You made my day ... works perfect again! Consider to be my hero of the day, I saw myself already working my way through the documentation how to flash this thing ...
Thank you,
Steve
No worries. This is the way.

@MacRorie I saw this on your site and really appreciate you making that disclaimer:
That is super cool of you to take proactive steps. I think the problem is actually with my Fujinet. The Sophia "noise" does not interfere with other WIFI or Bluetooth devices and isn't detectable using multiple WIFI adapters. Whether the interference is in spectrum, or a harmonic thereof, the Fujinet that I own should handle it better and as you point out, yours has no issues. I only suggest that anyone building these look at the network latency as part of your normal QA processes.
With a tremendous amount of babysitting and the tips described here (and not too little the application of aluminum foil LOL) I can get the Fujinet working "better" than it was and that opens a bunch of avenues for me to play and have fun.
Thanks everyone.
No worries. Am glad you got it working for you and we shall all keep a closer look at it. This is what means to be on the bleeding edge of technology (in a retro 80s sort of way!)

Hi.
I bought an assembled SDrive-MAX and screwed up the screen-calibration when playing around. I can't reach the CFG-Button anymore to correct this. Is there a way to reset to "factory defaults" or something? sdrive.atr loads and everything works from the Atari, but the screen is currently not usable...
Any help would be appreciated.
Steve
Press down on the screen with finger/stylus while applying power to the device. You will see "+" come up in a corner. Use the stylus to press the middle of the "+" on each corner. Some numbers will come up in the middle of the screen. press the "+" that you started with for a second time and the screen will return to the SDrive menu.

As a guy who’s expecting one shortly has anyone had this issue with the Sophia 2?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkLike I said, the 800XL in the picture has a Sophia 2 in it now (it had a rev C before) and have never seen the issue.

@Mark Simonson Mine it is not in between
@MacRorie If you have time, can you ping your fujinet and let me know what your latency looks like? If you put the Fujinet on a SIO cable and move it closer/farther from the Sophia DVI connection do you massive changes and/or drop outs from a continuous ping? I know that the weather app is supposed to pull ever X amount of minutes - but what would be the indication if it failed to do so? Does the weather app warn? Is there a way to test the amount of time it takes to pull that weather information?
If the weather app cannot pull data, it hangs. I have seen it do that with poor connections in non-Sophia machines. Time to pull: Dunno, didn't write it so no clue.
QuoteI for one hate intermittent failures - they are so hard to diagnose. What I can say so far is that moving the fujinet towards or away from the DVI port is measurable, as is turning off the monitor or disconnecting the DVI port.
Also, what wireless channel are you running on?
Huh. I cannot say I have seen that behavior. My impression was that the response was always the same no matter what machine I put it on and where I put the machine. Now, I will tell you that during the middle of the day when everybody and their sister has their WiFi up, it is decidedly more difficult to connect, but I attributed that to a general WiFi issue and not to any one machine configuration.
Channel is set to Auto select on all WiFi clients that connect.
EDIT: Did a ping of FujiNet with it attached directly and when on an SIO cable. Did not notice an appreciable difference.

@MacRorie Where is your WiFi router in relation to this setup? In my case, it seems to happen when the DVI (Sophia) connection is situated between the FujiNet and my WiFi router. When it's not, the interference goes away (or mostly goes away).
It is in the room that is adjacent to the entry hallway in the picture (on the far side of the building).

Hello all,
@mozzwald Let me know that there was a Sophia/FujiNet interaction issue. I will add this to the equation: I have an 800XL at the front door to the shop (it's my "Greeter" ;-)) that has had a Sophia in it for at least a month now with FujiNet. It goes on in the morning, I boot weather.atr and it stays on for 10 straight hours. It polls for changes every 90 minutes and runs like a champ. I have attached pictures of the setup.
The 810 sitting there is a relatively new addition and is only turned on for quick testing occasionally. The 800XL is powered via USB.
Now, does my one outlier situation prove that all is a) hunky and b) dory between Sophia and FujiNet? No, not in the slightest. However, it *might* indicate that it *may* be something else.

What I would love to see is an adapter for 7-pin Atari power input to a female USB-B micro or USB-C connector. There are a bunch of 2A-plus RasPi power supplies laying around here doing nothing, which would make great candidates for powering various bits of Atari XL/XE hardware. Purchasing another power supply seems redundant when there are ones here that could be reused.
@MacRorie: is this something that might worth adding to TBA's repower options?
I mean, sure. Give me pictures of what you want and I will go about making it.

NEW VIDEOS:
The first video is about the three different versions of The Guardians: Storm Over Doria I have. One is VERY playable. You can do things that advance the game, the shopkeeper actually sells things! You can kill monsters. DON'T DIE, however, as it resets the game! The GUARDIAN.02 version is almost a complete game, really.
The second one is . . . "Full Court Press"
It is a DEMO of a basketball game. You can dribble the ball up and down the court, look at screenshots of cheerleaders and a coach drilling a team, select different teams and do everything EXCEPT score baskets! "-)
All of them can be found here: https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-lynx

Very cool. I thought there were different levels! So much good Lynx gameplay there, wish it would have come out.

I cannot understand why people like this game or who beat it without going bald?
the maps are extremely large and overly complex- a maze inside a maze- the map is just bland with no different color to indicate areas already visited- no enemy or item or objective color coding- no number- no reference points .
i spent all friday night and most of saturday stuck on Sublevel 5b and Airduct 5c on alien campaign.
graphically, this game is the best but poor level design and missing map enhancement ruins all the fun. its just wandering around aimlessly looking for a clue.
Huh. I enjoyed this quite a bit. I did, however, map it all out back in the day. I have attached them in case anyone needs them. They are by no means perfect, but they got me through the game fairly easily (IIRC).

@Blues76 My xel has all the same spec (except the covox ), but in a smaller footprint, without a nice case.
Stephen and I can both fit a rapidus if we wish, I can also fit a covox like Stephen has.
Mine is a challenge to wedge it all in, Stephens has lots of room.
The Rapids *can* fit into an XEL, but if you want the CF2/CF3 in there, you will have to go with the modified footprint CF3. You cannot fit the standard CF3 and a Rapidus, it is not physically possible.

Mac, did you get a chance to check to see if the fullcourt room is truly the prototype of the unreleased Full Court Press prototype? Appears that may be another one as someone else pointed out.
You ever have one of those moments where you KNOW you answered an email only to discover you only answered it in your head?
Yeah, sorry about that.
It *IS* Full Court Press. It is an early demo and I will post a video of it ASAP.
BTW, I also tried Batman and BattleZone. Batman is, unfortunately, still @#$%^&*( hard to the point of being playable (you know just like the retail release).
Battlezone is a playable demo, but it is different than the other prototype I found.
Speaking of which, just to keep things straight, I am referring to THIS current batch of prototypes as Batch 2 or Second Batch. I will append a letter to that when releasing them in videos. The LAST batch of photos that I got (5 EPROM boards off of eBay after being first mentioned here) will be referred to as the "First Batch" or Batch 1. This is important because the prototypes are (so far) significantly different from each other even when their title is the same.
I will be posting videos as I have time. In the meantime, thanks for all the questions and stay tuned!

Hi. What is the difference between this and Sophia C? For the 1088 XEL, I see options for VBXE, Sophia B, Sophia C (two modes) ... but not this one... https://thebrewingacademy.com/products/mytek-1088xel
That's because the UAV is considered a daughterboard for the XEL. It is in the components options section. As seen below,

Thanks for all the answers! I'm not in any way trying to rush you. Even if you had no job and no obligations to take care of, going through all of these files somewhat thoroughly would take an eternity, and a helluva lot of organization.
I guess I have just two more questions:
1) If I hold off on ordering, say, the Guardians: Storm over Doria prototype for now, and wait until everything has been released in a year or however long it takes...will Guardians still be available then? Or are you just printing like 25 copies, and when they're gone, they're gone?
2) Do you think you might offer a discount for a bigger purchase, maybe of ten or twenty carts?
Thanks!
FYI: I now have three different versions of Guardians. I am in the process of making a video comparing the three.
1) They will always be available.
2) Not unless you want to buy 25 or more of the same title!

MacRorie, how many of these do you plan to put out on cartridge? If each one turns out to be a prototype, will each one get a cart release? And if I choose to wait to make a purchase until the last of these files are available on cart, will these earlier ones still be available to buy then? Or are you only putting out limited numbers?
That's a good question. Here's the deal: unless it is a true prototype that is either a) unreleased or b) significantly different from a released version, then it will probably not get a release from me until I release them into the wild in about a year. There are multiple reasons for this, but I think this is the most fair to all concerned.
Now, I *think* I have all of the "unreleased" ones out there. I could be wrong, but man, it's 95 files! With the files that had a retail release, I have to play them side-by-side with the retail version to see if there is a difference. Something I am slowly doing, but there's so much else that has to be done every day that it slips. I will get through them, but it might take a bit.
As for will I combine them into a "batch" like I did with the last set, the answer is probably not. The reason is that there is just not a good estimate as to a) when I will finish reviewing them, b) how many are actually going to be IN that batch, and c) how I would even logistically do it. I have tried to do batch deals on the ComLynxable ones, because that makes sense, but even then, like Spacewar is at least a 5-player comlynx game (I think it will actually end up being 8, but I need more ComLynx cables. Who knew I would need SEVEN?! I have four already). So, even making those a batch is proving to be slow.
2 hours ago, PFG 9000 said:I'm trying to decide which ones to buy, but I clearly won't have the cash available to buy every single one. Like the first group of photos, do you plan to release these roms to the community after a year? Sorry for all the questions, but my subtotal is already getting pricey and I'm trying to be smart about this...not easy for me when it comes to buying games.
No worries. I understand the situation and am trying to make it as easy as possible to get these into people's hands to play. A prototype sitting in a treasure chest is only cool to one person!
Thanks for the questions, and I hope IO answered them all. Feel free to ask more.

Sorry, life happened (as it is wont to do).
MORE are up. Even "Friendly." I get ONE complaint about "That's disgusting, why would you put that up there yadda yadda yadda" I will 3D print some effigies with avatars pasted to them and start making them play N64 Superman.
On a related note, there are more as I get time to make the carts and then compare them to other known versions. So far, I have three different versions of Guardians and two different versions of Daemonsgate. I have not even BEGUN to look at the Eye of the Beholder variations.

Video (No, I am NOT linking the "Friendly" video, you can find it up there and pass the age restriction test like everyone else):

Two different versions, both different from what I found before.
14 hours ago, 4ever2600 said:Daemons (if different than previous)
It is. The splash screen is definitely different. I cannot tell you if it is *substantially* different, however.
14 hours ago, 4ever2600 said:Hyperdrome (if different than previous)
I will try this one out today.
BTW, found one I have not seen before. I will get the video up for it today as well: Poker! I am pretty sure this is the Poker game that was attached to Lynx Poker kiosks that someone found a couple of years ago. It is definitely something different and is different from what I have seen before. In looking for stuff, I suspect it got made into a home-brew by someone else, but I need to pull that cart out and check it to see if it is similar.
