  1. It's all about priorities. I'll post scores on Saturday and Sunday. The only scores I will post will be "medal worthy" ones, and I'll start on the games with weak scores then move to games I'm good at. Just trying to get my name in your "personal attack signature". And as is the case with Halo, it's hard for opponents to "kill" you when they don't know where you are or what you're doing. As previously stated, I hope to dig out all of these games Saturday and start playing/posting then. ò¿ó
  2. All of the root beer, soda pop, milk shake, ice cream cone stuff was confusing me, so... ò¿ó
  3. My success came from keeping the balls in pairs. You have a few seconds before a ball you're holding is automatically released. By holding a single ball as long as possible, you can increase your chances of pairing it with another single ball. Once you have "paired up", slam to either the left or right side and release both balls. If one ricochets, grab it and wait for another "rogue ball" to come along, then do the same thing. On every board (which all seem identical in difficulty), you can reach a point where you're throwing balls, from the sides, in pairs without hitting anything. Then you can take one pair and throw them from the middle of the screen while targeting single blocks. It's a great way to slow the momentum of the game and take control of a chaotic situation. And if you lose a ball with only a few blocks on the screen, you're almost positively screwed once all six balls approach the bottom of the screen unhindered. ò¿ó
  4. Hmmm... That's a good question, since I spent all of about 5 seconds on the "red board". Does the multiplier go up to 6x, or did it stay at 5x? Honestly, everything beyond the Green Board is spent concentrating on the next free ball. I never pay attention to the score, because I'm too busy hoping to get a "free ball" before I "gimp out. And once I rolled from the Orange Board to the Red Board, I knew my score would be good, but before I got a free ball, my current one was gone. ò¿ó
  5. Close, but you're missing one. It's actually Magenta, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, which are the same sequential colors of the drop targets, from right to left (excluding magenta). And if you can make it to the Red Multiplier (6X), your score will soar. ò¿ó
  6. I'll have to check online about the pricing, but that's really not that much if you price NES consoles on eBay. And I love MCM, especially their catalogs. Those are like the Sears Christmas catalogs to me. MCM is where I got my large and small NES bits. ò¿ó
  7. Dang. I've been hesitant about doing it since I thought you had to desolder and resolder. The Game Genie really "wallows" out the pin connector, so I try to use it on only one of the consoles. Looks like I'm going to be ordering some pin connectors. Thanx for letting me know. ò¿ó
  8. Do the 72-pin connectors require the use of a soldering gun? I've considered installing some new connectors in my NES consoles, but I'm not handicapable with a soldering iron. ò¿ó
  9. He probably just never removed the printed picture that came in the frame. Any ideas as to what game that is? Didn't some Brazilian carts also have similar labels (i.e. Hand drawn picture with the bubble-type font, typically yellow or white)? ò¿ó
  10. Does the cartridge look like it's not plugged in all of the way? Even though there's a game on the TV screen, that cartridge looks loose. And is the game Black Hole or Space Raider? Neither seems to match the label. ò¿ó
  11. After looking at both the box and the cart art, and reading the description, these guys would at most be princes, but not kings. Based upon the art, I believe the object is each Warlord's own catapult within his castle walls. However, the manual says... so it's really hard to determine what they are, since the arcade game used "good guy / bad guy" heads. ...and to contradict that (I just got back to typing this reply), www.klov.com has... So it's likely we can call them whatever we want. ò¿ó
  12. This has been the most unenjoyable game for me since the 2600 HSC started. Of course playing on an emulator with a Nintendo-style controller doesn't help either. Some games really are better suited for a joystick. But since one of the purposes of the HSC is to expose everyone to games they haven't played before, it's good to know now not to pay too much for this game. ò¿ó
  13. Ahhh... the spoils... After letting bcprs1 know what my choices were... All "Music" purchases... • Cabana EP+ • The Bad Method • Binary Noiz Series "01"... ...all items were received within 3 days in a very professionally packaged and documented USPS box from AtariAge. Besides the fact that the CD's are fantastic (anyone into dance/trance should buy these up now), everything about this order was well handled, packaged securely, and very commercially appealing. Anyone that has doubts about the quality or delivery of the AtariAge store should not doubt; The AtariAge store delivers! And to bcprs1, thank you so much for this contest and the store credit. As soon as I can scrape up some bucks, I'm ready to order something myself... (like Pleides). ò¿ó
  14. This score took 61 minutes to achieve. The key is to totally avoid the blue and green moons. They're nothing more than a low-scoring hazard. Even for the blast-off points, they're just too risky. And the Orbit screen is another hazard to avoid. Keep the throttle up until you see a red or yellow planet, then dive in. And most importantly: Always listen to the sounds. The Launcher Ships have a very distinct sound, so when you first hear the sound, be ready to move to their location, pull back and fire. The Surface Destroyers are truly dangerous, so totally avoid them by taking out the Launcher Ships post haste. Unless you're in PCB, I'll "see" you all Thursday. ò¿ó
  15. If Thomas has more time to look over the code, it would be interesting to know if there are calculations performed inside the joystick input routine. Sometimes, it's difficult to hit the lane you want, even if you bump the joystick. It seems like at times the game will move Taz accordingly, but at other times it overcompensates. And by the way; this was a great game. I didn't know I even had it, so I looked at my list, then it was in the last case I checked. ò¿ó
  16. To quote one of my favorite "School House Rock" segments... "Out of the frying pan and into the fire" Well, here's my score for the week. And it is, in fact, the previous world record score. After the arrogance and pompous attitude I've shown towards other scores and photos, no one here would surprise me if they rejected it on sight. My hat's off to Todd and the 5th ghost for being able to merely see anything beyond 327500, much less being able to navigate it. "Cut lose the sand bags, but the balloon wouldn't go any higher" Please trust when I say I've tried to do better than this score, even if it was merely by 500 points. The time and the drive just hasn't been there for me, by my own fault. I'm sorry to everyone here, not for raising questions, but for the manner in which I raised those questions. I'm glad the skeptics commented along the way, but equally appreciative that others didn't jump on the bandwagon that has quickly and decisively burst into flames. And as arrogantly and unnecessarily suggested to another person here, I'll shut my mouth now. Thanx... Jeff ò¿ó
  17. Todd, thank you very much. You've apparently put a considerable amount of time and effort into resolving this issue. Your efforts are appreciated by me and most definitely and by all others here, I'm sure. You've not only revealed an apparently undiscovered anomaly, but you've reinfirced the integrity of the representatives of Twin Galaxies itself. As Thomas mentioned, it would be a bonus if we could all try the dumped ROM from the game, as well as have Albert "electronically document" the findings. However, I'm sure everyone would agree that it would be a luxury you can perform at your convenience since it's not necessary. At this point, removing or invalidating your score would be ridiculous. You've done the work of making the score, researching the anomaly, and posted the results. I'm assured Ze_ro has already determined all of this. Thank you for describing the validation method for TG referees and employess. It's not common for employees of a "reward service" to be included in the competition process, and a protocol of this manner should always be set up, which it is. I hope you can can understand my explicit concerns regarding your score especially after you've now done all of the work to determine the problem. I apologize for my harshness of presentation, but will always maintain a skeptical viewpoint of any erroneous situation, regardless of the individual claiming it. In time, hopefully everyone here can forgive me for throwing a grenade into our tea party. This (HSC) is a lot of fun, and to make "such a fuss" here is disruptive at minimal. Please review the data and try to understand my concern. Accepting my concern is at your mercy. As for sku_u, two facts are evident: either you point blank lied about your score or. Jeff ò¿ó
  18. At the end of Wave 5, Chriss++'s score would be 52500. Then... 52500 + 19600 : (49 food items at 400 points each) = 72100. His score would be legit. Once again, it's after Wave 6 that all scores will and must end in ???500 or ???000. ò¿ó
  19. The file below is the binary file (zipped) that was downloaded from AtariAge today at approximately 12:00 noon CST. It's been modified using ShowGFX and EditGFX to blank all of the dynamite (zeroed out). Thus, there's no visible collisions to be detected. Essentially, you can play this version forever. The only changes to the file were the two dynamite graphics (left and right) have been removed. If you have the time to play until it rolls over, you will confirm what Shannon has posted. The last highest score displayed is 999500 then the score reverts back to a single 0. Since a PAL version is considered inappropriate, a never-seen-before additional version should not be allowed either. Unfortunately, the next "photo" displayed will probably have the correct score that's already been thoroughly discussed. Ahhh... It's fun when you're cheating on people, but not when you're getting caught cheating. Please, whatever sent you away before, find it again. You've apparently come back to bark; well, I bark back. ò¿ó taz_no_dynamite.zip
  20. I was in post edit mode so I missed the last message. I look forward to your reply. ò¿ó
  21. 50 items per wave at ??? points each First wave item = 50 pts. each Second wave items = 100 pts. each Third wave items = 200 pts. each Fourth wave items = 300 pts. each Fifth wave items = 400 pts. each Sixth wave items = 500 pts. each Remaining wave items = 500 pts. each You play wave after wave until you die. Here's the score after each wave... Wave 1 - 50 x 50 = 2500 Wave 2 - 50 x 100 = 5000 + 2500 = 7500 Wave 3 - 50 x 200 = 10000 + 7500 = 17500 Wave 4 - 50 x 300 = 15000 + 17500 = 32500 Wave 5 - 50 x 400 = 20000 + 32500 = 52500 Wave 6 - 50 x 500 = 25000 + 52500 = 77500 From this point, your score will go up 25000 per completed wave, in increments of 500 points each. That's 100000 per 4 waves, thus after Wave 42, you will have 977500 points. Then it takes 44 items at 500 points each (22000 points) to make the score 999500. The next food item you pick up will make the score a single 0. The screen shot has been puposely modified. The previous mentioned score was just "misinformation. ò¿ó
  22. That score cannot be achieved on this game. Furthermore, for that photo to display that score, the image itself would have to have been modified with a graphics program. I'm going to ask for the help of all the coders here to help verify this please. ò¿ó
