Hmm okay. So the phase with the weird screen is it sets back to regular graphics mode to do file updates to restore the SG files (0-3) to start game state.
I had to change graphics modes because my experiments found that even though the VDP should have been able to deal with it it in practice didn't. The fact the game remains stable and returns you to the main menu means its not crashing though. Just a graphical glitch.
I'll have to test it on my hardware configuration to see. It doesn't replicate in Classic99.

Is this on hardware? Do you see the creating new adventure followed by the intro? Please describe the exact set of events.

Thats odd... let me know if that happens again. I like seeing it on the classic TI monitor!

Nah, it's more that they didn't provide any assembly support on the base console.
-
They're just loaders.

Attention all: First bug reported!
The scare spell crashes the game. I've already got a fix ready, now I just need to work with Greg on getting it out to the public... or waiting to see if other bugs come up first.

This looks amazing but I am curious why it requires the following:
If you don't have a FinalGROM to load the ROM on, you'll need one of those three cartridges to play the game.
-
The last tester who completed the game took 191 hours.
If new versions are released due to bugs and updates, anyone who purchased the software will get the update, probably through notification via email. If the changes necessitate an alteration to the cartridge ROM that gets a bit trickier but it can be fixed.

Sick. This is awesome. I have a sams card from when krsaul made them, I regular 90k 5.25" floppy drive, a 180k 3.5" drive and a TIPI (as of today), and a final grom 99, and a 384K horizon ramdisk hooked up. I think these are the only relevant HW for this game? I prefer to run as much off OG hardware as possible. Recommendation to on what to buy? Is there like an 'all in edition' where I can get all the floppies and the cart? Also...what does the cart do if I have the floppies and/or vice versa? Like can I just straight up run this off the cartridge? I definitely want the physical edition, just want to make sure I can actually run the physical edition I order off my system ? I just do want to buy all the cool stuff and then have to xfer it to tipi and run the digital edition if I can avoid it -- I need that disk drive grinding away to satiate myself!
The TIPI is the best way to play the game, honestly.

Well I didn't quite make Christmas... But I did get it done in 2020!
Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown is now released! Digital edition is available immediately, collector's editions are in pre-order and will ship late January/early February.
I've put together a website for it here, you'll find links to the store to purchase it on the product page:

If you have questions, check the FAQ on my website for answers, and post here if you can't find what you need. I'll update the FAQ accordingly!
Excelsior! Time to see how long before I have to release a new build...

Well our closed beta has only been going for a year... I had old demos from way WAY back. Was it one of those?
As the software is being commercially sold I must respectfully decline to include it with the GameBase. However, I could make a demo version of the finished game that could be included.

Small oops...
I'm sure Matt will be amused to be credited as one of the original developers of the TMS9918, but I don't think he was one.
Shhh! You never know, he may be a Time Lord.

5 1/4" Floppy labels! And I do have 3 1/2" ones as well planned... however, I will have no means to actually create 720K 3 1/2" floppy disks, as I don't have the disk controller on the TI that can do it.
Unless someone has a means to create them on a Windows 10 PC using a PC floppy drive but it will format for the TI?

You are aware... that when you have a single binary(which may include G, C, and perhaps even D, files(all with the same name prefixed)) in the root DIR, that FG99 will act as a dedicated cartridge. So, the FG99's menu will be superseded?
Also, if the 8th character in your file name is not G, FG99 assumes it is a ROM type .bin!
Yes and yes. I have a bin file at the root. And it once loaded the final grom menu.

And on the subject...
So today I received from Amazon a small set of 512mb micro SD cards. These have more than enough space for ALL the game data, and could potentially be used directly in a FinalGROM.
Maybe. My experimentations haven't been working out. Either my FinalGROM cart is just flakey as hell or it's not working.
If I put the cart binary on it's own SD card it works... sometimes. I've had to repeatedly press reset and insert/re-insert the cartridge for it to take.
But on my microSD card, either it shows nothing or ONCE it showed the FinalGrom99 menu but it showed nothing I could execute. Even with the cart binary at the root level.
Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I need a better FinalGROM, I don't know. I am just trying to figure out how to store the data on it in a way that's the easiest to use directly.

I didn't mean run from cartridge, just an installer program. Maybe a project for someone else; no changes to the game, just a floppy maker. On your poll, was the "cartridge" option just a trial balloon?
No, the cartridge is something that will be provided as a BIN file so you can use your FinalGROM to load the game binary faster than you can from disk. (It runs marginally faster than most disk systems.)
A cartridge would basically just be something pretty with a label that does the same thing.

I'm with Ksarul - this is in the league with Dragon's Lair and I will order multiple copies. (Not profiteering)
I was thinking, if you were to make a cartridge for the main program loader, could it also create the floppies, if the flash were big enough (I guess 2048K?)
That way, making floppies would be all in-system for TI-99/4A owners.
I'm disinclined to re-engineer the game at this point for that.

Something important to note, it's not "a cartridge or disks." It's "Disks or a cartridge AND disks. The game will not run on a cartridge alone.

New Release: Realms of Antiquity The Shattered Crown

Curious myself but its definitely an edge case. I know the routine to create a target unit list pretty well. And whatever causes it is very rare.
