I am talking the original Xbox, not the 360.... I have heard rumors that some of the PAL games will work on NTSC consoles.... Anyone have any experience with this? I am interested in getting Ski racing 2005 but its only a PAL game. thanks Kevin

Anyone Remember "wings of fury" for the apple IIe?
kondre replied to kondre's topic in Apple II Computers
I remember letting the plane go and go and go, and i never did the "fly around the world", the plane would run out of fuel. I never came across any platform either. maybe i didnt do it on the right level. I'm no programer, but i cant imagine it would be difficult for someone to write up the game. Chopper is a re-make of choplifter and it runs on OSX. its simple, but very well done. something similar but based on WoF is what I would just love to see. Kevin -
Anyone Remember "wings of fury" for the apple IIe?
kondre replied to kondre's topic in Apple II Computers
Well, I am glad that I am not the only one who played it. I am still trying to get my Color Classic up and running, it will have the Apple//e card in it, so I should someday be able to play WoF once again, which would be nice. wouldnt it be real nice to have a version that ran on OSX natively though? -
Anyone remember Wings of Fury? has to be one of my all time favorite games....I just wish someone would make an update to it so it could be played on say....OS X Kevin

One word- Beautiful! Followed up with.... I cant wait for it to be available. and finally.... whats the chances of the cart being compatable with the 7800 like most 2600 carts are?

I am 90% done on a Apple Color Classic machine that will have the apple//e card in it. That will give me a two in one machine. I have some nice games for the apple //e and a few for the old 68K apples. once that is finished and running with a new formatted HD, i could turn that over to him. But, friday night my wife told me that if i was going to show him computer games, i should go and get his jumpstart software and install it on his pismo. So i did. he ran that all night long. he liked it so much he HAD to take his pismo with him on our trip on saturday. Only thing i dont like is the jumpstart is classic mac OS not OSX native. 9.2 is installed, its just a hoop i dont like jumping through and it does run slower being an "emulated" OS9.2. it can boot in 9.2, but only i can navigate around in it, as no one else in the house has used OS 9.2 or earlier. So, I guess what i need to do is find some new eduacational games for OSX native. that SHOULD be cheaper than buying a GC and games right? I dont know if the jumpstart will run on the Color Classic, its only running at 33mhz, not sure if that strong enough for the jumpstart or not. Kevin

I was hoping for a handheld wheel controller. thats what the interact wheel i have is. I have two versions. one version where the wheel is on the top of the controller, and the second version is more like a R/C car, the wheek is on the side of the pistol grip controller. I see interact made the wheel on top version for the PS1....huh. Ok so that brings up another question.....can you turn a PC controller into a GC or xbox controller? Kevin

I have a 7800 system. I actually should bring that out. and since he doenst know any better, he would think that its top notch. hmmmm.... ok, so i bring the 7800 out tonight. and get the GC for his birthday....yeah, that will work.

OK, here is another question....... controllers....... Nicholas and I both love driving games. I have a game pad with analog sticks for my mac and i have used it for some driving games....not good at it so far... I have the old interact race wheels for my old windowz machine. I LOVE those. Does anyone make a R/C Car type steering wheel for the current consoles? my guess is no. but i hope they do. and I did find the pro racer by gamester.....anyone have any experience with that? Thanks Kevin

if microsoft pulls out of the gaming market, that would be a indication. no xbox = big problem in console world Now, before you beat me up, listen to my reasoning.... MS has TONS of $$$ and the fact that they lose money every time an xbox was sold shows that they didnt make the console for the money, they did it for the software income. ok, we all know that. now just picture what the whole console world will be like if MS says, "well, we arnt making the $ that we wanted to in software sales for the xbox, so lets pull out." if it was getting that bad that MS NEEDS to cut losses, then the whole console gaming industry must be hurting. I am not trying to imply that the whole gaming industry relies on MS. I just think that if they need to pull out, its a sign of bad times ahead. Kevin

the timer by the TV thats a super idea We limit all activity to end around 730pm. baths and then a book make up the last 1/2 hour of the evening for them. my daughter is 3, they both go by the same rules eventhough the age difference, she's been treated as a 4yr old ever since she could understand and speek english. the reward system is great and the timer, thats also a great idea, thanks Kevin

This was all good information...I thank you all I will make a stop at the local new/used game store tonight on the way home. I hope they have some refurbished GC's there if not, thats fine, i will place an order for one, as i dont need this until xmas anyhow. My only concern is that he will play this only, he will abandon the v-smile completly, and i bet my bottom dollar that the GC doesnt have any educational games. the v-smile is all educational games. How do you guys with kids keep your kids from becoming monsters when its time to put the game system away? I have a bad feeling he will, as he tends to do almost just that when its time to hop off nickjr.com or rescueheros.com and close the laptop. he gets pretty upset when its time to turn off the centipede clone game that my wife loves on the powebook. Or is he not really old enough yet to have a game system other than the v-smile? he will turn 5 in Dec. he is a typical acting boy for his age, i just dont want to create a video game junkie at the age of 5. Do you guys limit the amount of time allowed to play the games for the kids? thats what i was hoping to do. Kevin

I think all the points made to me regarding the choice of the GC were very objective. thats just what i was looking for.

What i REALLY want to do is get a 20th anniversary Mac, get that set up on a table, put a video source box there with it, put the following on the table too: Apple//c Atari 7800 GC Xbox v-smile That way using the video source box I could choose which console or machine pumps video to the TAM. Also I would be able to play some of those older mac games on it too as the TAM can only go up to OS 9. It would be a kick ass game center, it only has a 12" LCD with 800x600, but, it has a nice Bose sound system to it and it would be just nice to have the gaming center not take the TV away from someone else.

I just love the atari age forum as the answers i am getting here are just what i was looking for. unbiased. Thanks for all your info, I will check out the GC again. Kevin

how is the quality of the GC version of a game when compared to say xbox or PS2? is it visually different? better? worse? how about smoothness of playing? any choppyness? is there any choppyness in any of the current consoles? These are all basic questions, i know, but like i said, i havent played any current console games, nor owned one. I have got rally shift for the mac though. - i do like driving games. the son, likes them too, but he also really likes his toy story v-smile game thanks Kevin
-
I was thinking GC before as well, but every time we go to the video store to rent a movie, i kinda wonder to the Games section and look through it. not much. thats what i see. not much in that the amount of titles that is, not possible quality of games, just volume. I will take another look at the GC Thanks Kevin

Its been a long time since i was on this forum. I havent been playing many games for the last few months. Here is my question: I do NOT own any of the current generation consoles. I DO however hav a disc of Rogue Squadren for the GC The wife and I are thinking of getting a console for the holidays. Or son is now going to be 5 and is getting interested in games. he uses his pismo for now as well as his V-smile console. He has played a few Apple//e games as well. he is HOOKED on Asteroids (original version that i have on my dashboard on the mac) Should we go and get a used xbox, or should wait till after the whole holiday deal and get the 360? I suppose the question of the xbox's future game library development should be considered, as i am not sure if it will expand after the release of the 360. Thanks Kevin

Any really good Apple ][ or Apple ][ GS games?
kondre replied to courtesi's topic in Apple II Computers
Best Apple // games? Wings of Fury - Best game ever on the apple // Captain Goodnight - Very comical but linear, but comical Resue Raiders - very rare to find, stratigic Choplifter - runs perfect looks just like the A5200 version, or does Atai's look like apples's? Karateka - the version that every other system wished they had. Spy vs Spy - honerable mention -

big lot of 5 1/4 diskettes for trade apple II -on hold-
kondre replied to crsdawg's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Resue Raiders for AppleII................ Raid over moscow for Apple II......... If you got either of them, i would be interested. Kevin -
I figured i would just throw it out there, to see if anyone was interested in it. I never had the idea that i would get rich from selling it, honestly i would give it to someone who wants it, just the wantee would just have to pay the shipping thats all. Id hate to toss it out knowing that somewhere someone would like to have the box for the machine they have, some people like to have them complete. again, if you want it, dont worry, its free, just pay the shipping costs, and that should be low, it wont weigh much being empty and all. Kevin
