  1. Next step: get the 7.16Mhz '816 out to the world, and we'll see another 4x speed increase...
  2. The OS jumpers, from my understanding of the docs, should be toggled to ground to select one of four OSes: Both high = OS #0; One high = OS #1; The other high = OS #3; and Both grounded = OS #4. A pair of small switches should do the trick - but I'd recommend against changing settings with power on...
  3. Provided a Z: handler with the same functions can be written, is it really worth getting worked up about 100% R-Time compatibility?
  4. I should have specified that my machines are all NTSC.
  5. To use this OS you need a 65816 CPU in your Atari. Run it with a stock 6502 and you'll probably end up in never-never land. I've yet to install it in my 65816 800xl, but my understanding is that it is intended to provide easier programming access to 65816 features and to speed up stock Atari OS routines with some that are optimized for the '816. Once I dig out my UV eraser, a few 27128s and my EPROM programmer I'll let you know...
  6. I just picked up one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.17894 and have no complaints to date. Tried a few 800xls and an 800; looking at the 800xls reminds me that I need to do the SVideo upgrade...
  7. We're both right - it was Orion Microsystems that put it out, in a cart made by ICD (including the internal logic set so it would not conflict with SDX or Diamond). (Well, OK, you're more right than me).
  8. Looks like the Express cart is missing - as I recall, another ICD stackable cart - plus, Action! is missing as well.
  9. That's 51 boards right there. But no, I overordered quite a bit above and beyond the orders + ones that I'm holding on to for myself and friends. I also had to take into account the possibility of overage/underage, becuase I didn't want to come up short on boards for personal use and orders and such. Overordered? Hmmm... tempting....
  10. So about 52 or so were ordered?
  11. Plus, those doing the work now are doing it as a labour of love, not as a full-time job. So their families and full-time jobs come first - and understandably so. Frankly, there are about 4-5 projects I'm dabbling with right now that may never see the light of day - because my full-time job demands a lot of time, as does my family, plus a part-time job on top of that - all before I sit in front of one of my Atari 800xls. So many thanks to those who make the time to work on projects like this!
  12. I have a few old external SCSI to Ethernet Adapters, targeted in the day at Mac users (requires System 6.0.3 and 1 Mb RAM, as I recall). Never tried them out (part of an EBay lot). The old Mac drivers are on the net (plus I've got them downloaded). No idea of whether one could be hooked up to an MIO or not - nor of what the Atari-side software would have to do. That being said, anyone interested in obtaining one to play with can PM me.
  13. I decided to go for a low start, with a "Buy It Now" that would seem appealing. Sold with "Buy It Now" for $99.98 (shipping included).
  14. And it's up on Ebay. Starting bid $49.99, Buy-it-now at $89.99, shipping $9.99. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270366355464

  16. I am considering auctioning off my SDX 4.21 cart, together with the manual. Purchased at the TAF Atarifest in '94 or '95 from FTe. Is there any interest? What would be a good starting price for the auction?

  18. Have you cracked the hood yet? Sounds like you may have a different OS installed, with reversed OPTION for boot, and possibly some other changes.
  19. Come now! Priorities! Which is more important - a vacation, or us Atarians?
  20. Bump. Any more news on this? Lots of interest...
  21. Someone has 10 motherboards for 1200xls, fully populated (no keyboard) for sale on Ebay, starting at $9.99: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 330310517666
  22. One I never saw but was always interested in was from DataQue, who were supposed to be releasing a bank-switched cart with a spreadsheet that was 65816 aware to support those who had purchased their '816 upgrade. Never seen a copy anywhere, so I don't know whether it was vapourware. (from http://www.atariarchives.org/cfn/05/11/0182.php)
  23. Most other term programs will support it with the proper R: driver. I have a full set somewhere, with a software disk, a copy of the term cart, the modem and power adaptor. If only I'd saved the box!
