  1. Im a big fight stick fan, but something like this is always going to have challenges commanding the funds needed to actually make it worth the time and money that goes into these. Someone who doesnt love fight sticks is not going to pay $350+ for one and someone who loves them enough to pay that probably already knows how to make them on their own. Then theres the problem that the Jag has 2-3 arcade style shmups and like 5 fighting games? It would essentially just be a stick for playing Raiden.

What's the lowest resolution refresh rate you tried.  Some vga monitors in the early 90s were fixed scan and couldn't do better than 640x480 at 60 hz.

If your laptop doesn't detect it than you have to manually enable the external video port on.  Then you have to set the output resolution and refresh to one that's compatible with the monitor.

Finally got it to work, before I got a black screen from enabling the video port but this time instead of duplicating the monitor and changing resolutions I tried telling it to only use the external monitor, which did the trick. Thanks for the help my bros.

  3. So the thing is, yes I am using a VGA to HDMI adapter, and with the exact same adapter I have no issues using a 2007 LCD monitor I own. Also I tried every single resolution available and none worked. So we can rule out a few problems.

...if an adaptor maybe it is not a very good one...

Im hoping its just this. Apparently CRT monitors require a bit more voltage for a steady signal and most adapters are made cheap and will not work. So I ordered a $45 expensive one on Amazon to test this theory, it comes in the mail tomorrow. If that doesnt work I will get my slow as molasses 2011 laptop from my moms garage, which may or may not have been the furniture of racoons and squirrels for the past 6 years.

  4. Another helpful tip for playing Battlemorph: The passwords will bring you to any solar system and from there you can choose any planet. You wouldnt be able to access the bosses, except that as luck would have it the final solar system is a boss rush. The boss levels seem to be a lot more stable than the other levels too. So basically the game is already fully playable, as long you dont mind some interruptions.

Fantastic product.  I can get everything to load except for "Hover Strike - Unconquered Lands".  I've tried different SD cards, reformatting a dozen times, various flavors of the image, defragging, etc...  Can someone recommend a fix for this one game?

    Thank in advance!

Thats a CD game. Check the gamedrive support subforum for info on CD game issues.

  6. 10 years ago I gave up the idea of collecting most games and the few affordable options left eventually went the same way. The future of actually enjoying games is flash drives and emulation. Times are changing and we have to invest in these new paths.

  7. In my experience basically you can get it to run in a limited state where you cant fly too fast or crash too much or the game will freeze. Explosions also often trigger freezing, as do transitioning to the "tube" areas and that one part where it teleports you into a small room. Often you can complete a level before it crashes and my record is finishing all but one planet in the first solar system, which I achieved through some glitchiness working in my favor.

If you cant get it to load at all here is my general method: get at least 3 memory cards and at least 2 versions of Battlemorph. Format a card and set up multiple folders each with copies of the files. Try loading each and when loading do not press anything during the Jagcube animation. You should get the start screen animation scene about 30% of the time and one file location will usually be more reliable than the others. If its not working at all, format card #2 and try everything all over. Et cetera. If all three dont work format them and try again. When this is working and you get the title screen pay attention to the message at the top about not having a memory card. The sweet spot to press A is shortly after that message disappears. The crashing that happens is in some way related to the audio, so when on the menu dont make any selections until the game has finished playing the current Scottish accent quote. Once in the game fly slow and dont let the screen get too busy. Learn the maps so you can strategically avoid large groups of enemies and coast through the levels as peacefully as possible. When crossing a teleporter or into a tube area go a snails crawl pace and cross your fingers. The playable state of the game is degenerative, so generally you will get about three solid attempts for each time you reformat the card.

Quick update: the first and second batch of samples had a defect, so we are now on our third run of factory samples. I hope I will have this resolved by end of September, but don't know for certain yet. Thank you to everyone for their patience!

No, because the source code is not available. Even if it was, it would all be 68000 and Jaguar RISC assembly which would not lend itself to porting.

Ah okay gotcha. Whats the story with the source code? Lost in the chaos of Atari's bankruptcy?
