NES High Score Club Week #17 - Trojan
ToddRogers replied to vdub_bobby's topic in NES High Score Club
First off Happy New Year everyone, Rj, you mentioned that I had a problem with Keilbaca, that statement is wrong, I dont want to make any more enemies so let me set the record straight. A few years ago I took Keilbaca under my wing and tutored him on a number of video games as he was very interested in bettering his skills on. I respected him for that and thats why I gave him inside tips on how to play more like a champion not that he wasnt one to begin with. I skimmed thru the postings here and there is a lot of muck going on, but then again you got to expect that from time to time when you razz other gamers. Rudy no one takes away from your prowness but on the other hand don't rub it in peoples faces, your scores speak for them selves and people will notice this with out being reminded. As for people teasing you......well what can I say, its a part of being a record holder, so you take the good with the bad, and believe me thru my 30+ years of playing I have had many instances where people trash talked me and I came thru everytime and the crowd was awed and then quiet because they had to play harder to try and tie one of my scores. I hope this new year of 2007 will bring a lot of gamers together and we will have a lot of records made that we ALL can appreciate and compliment our fellow gamers about. -Todd Mr Activision Rogers -
Greetings all, I have a question for " tantone56 " you say you beat the game, just how did you do that feat? And you also said it took you hours, how many hours to be exact? I played this game till exhaustion or 85+ hrs to be exact and I never beat the game. I think what you are refering to is after each 5-waves of saving each of the band members your game recycles thru from the beginning until YOU the player submits or looses retrieving the scarabs, or runs out of time, and as we all know that can be redundant and boring. My score/money was over 105 Million, It should take 45minutes of normal game play to reach 1 million pts, and you said you played for hours, what was your final score? As I recall the second place ranking on Twin Galaxies is Robert Mruczeks at a little over 2 Million did you beat his score, then it should be recognized. -Todd Rogers

Greetings, As for cheating .....NOT... the reason why i put the tape on the screen was at the CGE2k2 i have to compensate for the difference in #1 the size difference of the TV #2 The lighting because of reflection #3 for me standing and not being at a correct angle , #4 to show Refs/People/Players that were new to the game how to get started, " Hello" sort of like training wheels....you see you have to be at a parfect angle to get that great of a score, and the time that i had achieved at that event was 32:50 "Not" the score that TG presently recognizes, due to some internal discrepancies. The simple fact that I had played in front of 3 TG referess and 30+ people you would think that would have been enough to be verified. SO thats my slant on the Barnstorming issue, Enjoy. Enclosed is an example of a 32:67 that was done on a previous HSC week. -Todd Mr Activision Rogers

Greetings, You are correct I did say that Activision gave me that jacket for holding ALL of the StarMaster records at the same time and I also have said on a number of occasions that Activision did not publish some of my records probably due to lag time on the post production of their newsletters. But that is fine to I had made plenty of records right in front of them that were never mentioned in the newsletters such as Oink, Pressure Cooker and KeyStone Kapers. The jacket that was given to me has the StarMaster Special patch on one sleave and on the other sleave another patch from the Astronaught Neil Armstrong who I met in the 1980's of a Space Shuttle . I hope this sheds a little light on the StarMaster Patch. -Todd Mr. Activision Rogers

Greetings all, Ive sort have been under the weather so to speak i just had a tooth pulled and i have an encapsulated abcess, so sorry for the dealay on this topic but we all know how dental matters can be. First off i would like to say is that the only reason that i had entered the HSC in the first place was the prodding of the 5th Ghost saying that no one would mind my entering because after all its about gaming ...and so it is but i was hesitant about entering because of my past involvement with making high scores for fear of driving other gamers away and surely that wasnt my intent. Secondly i appreciate all the compliments and comments that were made from all my fellow gamers positive or negative as they may be perceved, it also puts into context how a player is judged by his peers. The HSC should be judged and perspected by all the competing players for the basis of setting rules and who plays and who doesnt for various reasons and so on. If players dont want me to compete im good with that and no ill feelings and if they do want me to compete thats cool to. If you want to impliment a point value if you beat one of my scores if i am still competing weekly it sounds like a good idea and a great initiative. If you want to use me as a Ghost Player that too sounds like a great idea im all for the Ghost idea as i dont want to see "ANY" player get discouraged from my participation. I was also thinking that in leiu of the double point values that i would consider throwing in a cash bonus every week for "ALL" participating players who beat me in that week thats right i said "ALL" but they must be competing on a regular basis meaning not skipping weeks at a time. I also may perpose this idea to ties as well in case of a 999,999 game on certain titles. Give these ideas some thought and i hope all are happy with my perposals after all its about having fun. Greetings The answer to your question is like this, at 99,999 "Km or Miles" how ever you want to look at it they roll over at that point back to -0-. At 99 days the days roll over back to -0- .The tough part is trying to remember how many times you flipped the days. There is one thing that saves you from going crazy and that is your miles you can have a score like 33,000 miles and have 104 days but the score will look like 33,000 - 04 days. But when they roll over the MILES thats when the madness starts. You could have a score that looks like this 173 Miles at 82 days. My final score was 118,000 miles and 398 days after 45hrs of game play.I guess Activision never expected anyone to play that game that long. Todd Mr Activision Rogers

Yes there are games that im not good at . Its just no one has picked them yet... LOL. Todd Mr Activision Rogers

Hey Goochman, That sounds like a bribe to the players not a Luxury Tax...LOL...But never the less im sure it would make the gaming world very very happy and me very very broke. Gosh could you image how many players would line up to complete and then to collect it would look like a welfare line. Lets not forget what if i dont max out that weeks game...LOL..do you pay me? Sounds sort of like being at the horse track. But Damnnn its a great idea Goochman. Well..... I'm just glad to see ZE_RO back into the swing of things i look forward to all of the future game selections of the week. Todd Mr Activision Rogers

Greetings All, "The BOX Strat" is, Where ever you start from you do a series of movements like such: Down-Exit, Left-Exit , Up exit, Right Exit. So you are using this Square or "BOX" series or movements through the whole game. Never mind shooting ALL the robots becuase your score will increase as you perform. To take chances by shooting all the robots for a measly 50-70 bonus points or what ever point values are is risky if you are in a game where OTTO cant die and OR you get NO extra men.So my logic is shoot, evade, exit , shoot, evade, exit. This may seem redundant but your score will eventually be where you want it to be anyways it just takes a little longer. Todd Mr Activision Rogers

Original Atari Joystick controllers - what are they like?
ToddRogers replied to sharopolis's topic in Atari 2600
Greetings All, Well the first atari joysticks that i have from 1977 when you open them up have springs inside them instead of the plastic inserts for where the movement tabs are. This gave you more mobility for games like Dragster for its shifting and the newer atari joysticks were better for games like Skiing becuase of their lack of movement or stiff movement. I endorsed three joysticks for Suncom in the early 80s i was in TV commercials promoting these sticks and they were the Slick Stick, StarFighter, and the Tac2 even though i endorsed the Slickstick and the starfighter i hated those two. The buttons were tough on your thumbs and they were useless or games like Pitfall. The company Suncom billed their joysticks as Unbreakable but you know me..I used ALL of them on Decathlon and ALL of them broke. The Tac2 had a metal rod inside the shaft of the joystick and it just simply snapped easly under the Decathlon games torture. The Wico sticks i called them the Wico Sico sticks...i didnt like them either for what i had to due to get a high score back then. Im a firm believer in the traditional Atari Joysticks they are the best. Todd Mr Activision Rogers -
My submission for week 27 on Berzerk Gm9 956,300, Ron eat your heart out once more. But you know one thing , Is that the patterns are the same no matter what level of game play that you are on using the BOX strat. will work every time its just a mattter of IF you have a good joystick of not.
