  1. Yep. Even though I'm no longer a regular part of the show, I will be contributing interviews as I'm able; including more with Tom & Braxton.
  2. Intellivision Productions / Keith made very little on the original Flashback. Let's just say the "deal" AT Games was proposing for a Flashback 2 was even worse (laughable, really). That's what ultimately led IE to do their own thing.
  3. Not true. I can't discuss details yet (NDA), but I was in the meeting with AT Games about the possibility of a Flashback 2 (and it was after Keith passed away).
  4. Since I'm stepping away from the show now - with Rick and Chris taking over - the episodes should come out much more frequently, as they will be in a much shorter more succinct format. Rick will be taking over production on these. He may chime in here with more details.
  5. This feels a little silly, like I'm placing more importance on this and myself than it warrants, but I've been getting PMs here, on social media and in email asking about my apparent departure from the Intellivision community. I'm not quite sure where that started, but after getting so many, I figured maybe I should post something. As most of you know, I've been doing The Intellivisionaries Podcast - along with @Rick Reynolds, @cmart604, and in the early episodes, @BurgerTime - since September 2013. It's been a fun and entertaining ride for me, and hopefully for the listeners too. Along with my co-hosts, I have put a tremendous amount of time into the show, and for the most part, I've enjoyed the process. But the whole thing has started feeling more like a second job than a fun hobby. And I realize a lot of that is my fault, since my style was to do a lot of editing and production, silly bits, sound effects, 'corrections robots', time travel, etc. etc. etc! Oh, and I'm also a perfectionist, so that just adds to the mix, so to speak. But at this point in time, I'm completely burned out on it. It's partly down to the current workload of running my IT business, but also because I've been getting back into writing and recording music again, after a very long break. I've been reworking my studio setup, repairing and upgrading synths, drum machines, samplers, cabling, mixers, acquiring new gear, etc. I'm also considering another podcast project with a long time musician friend of mine, discussing these very things; electronic music production, gear and repair. Sure, The Intellivisionaries was an outlet for me to use some of my music, but most of the tracks are things I wrote years ago. And even though I've wanted to write again, because my free time was taken up by the podcast - and because my studio was configured for podcasting, not music creation - I wasn't writing or recording anything new. And I missed that, even if, ultimately, I'm just doing it for myself as a creative outlet. I think like most of us, my hobby interests wax and wane over time. These days I'm definitely in a 'waning' period when it comes to retro-gaming. And some of my feelings about it have to do with my previous involvement with Intellivision Entertainment, and the way everything went down with Amico and the retro-gaming community. It really soured me on a lot of things in the space, and my participation in forums and gaming groups fell off a cliff, and hasn't really come back. But I don't intend to leave the community, and I'm not currently selling any of my collection (I've been getting offers and requests about that). As far as The Intellivisionaries Podcast goes, after I get the Atlantis episode out (some time soon), I'm stepping away from the show. Rick, Cmart and I are still talking about what will happen after that. They'd like to continue doing it, in some form. And I may have some level of participation, since I still have a lot of interviews in the can, but I won't be producing or editing the show. I'm also not planning to make any of my Flashback adapter cables, ColecoVision Y-adapters, or Dual Action Controllers any time in the foreseeable future. Yes, I still get a lot of emails and messages about that too, and that's also entirely my fault, since last year I bought a boatload of supplies to make hundreds of them, and I posted here - and mentioned it on the podcast - that I would be starting up again. I'm not saying that it will never happen, but right now, the thought of sitting in my garage for hours and hours soldering cables has zero appeal. So that's it. Feel free to reply if you have any questions or want to offer your thoughts on the podcast going forward. Just don't ask me about selling my Intellivision collection, that's not happening!
  6. Just finished reading through this great thread. I managed to find a picture of me using my 800XL. The back of the photo says February 1984 (I was a junior in high school). This would have been shortly after I got the 800XL, since I'm using the 410 cassette drive (borrowed from a friend). If I remember correctly, I had to wait a few months for my parents to get the Percom AT-88 floppy drive. I still have all my Atari 8-bit gear, with many additional items acquired over the years. Got into the Atari ST after the 8-bit around 1990, then moved on to the Falcon030. That was my main machine until the early '00s, when I finally went kicking and screaming into the PC/Windows world. I still have my ST gear, but sold the Falcon (to a fellow AtariAger around the mid '00s). EDIT: I don't remember all the details, but the desk was something I assembled with spare wood pieces and paneling, and some wood grain contact paper. I know the monitor stand was the top part of an end table my parents had.
  7. I haven't tried my [two] Dell 27" with my STE yet (although I'm using one of them right now on my home PC as I type this, and it's got a great picture). I'm waiting on a switchable monochrome/color VGA adapter I ordered from an ebay seller in the UK: https://www.ebay.com/itm/266052626971 I do have a monochrome VGA adapter I got several years ago, but didn't manage to find the time to dig out the STE this past weekend. I also have a friend's older 1040 STf in the garage I'll test with. I'll report back with screenshots once I test everything out.
  8. I just ordered two of the 27" model from my local (1+ hour away) Micro Center. They were $159.99 each. I'll pick them up in-store today or tomorrow.
  9. Thanks, Steve! Hope you liked how the Intellivision FAQ segment turned out. And 100% agree.. big thanks to @DZ-Jay for Christmas Carol! I love playing it at Christmas time too. It was the inspiration behind this episode.
  10. Very nice work, dZ. The drum sounds are particularly impressive! Clever optimization there with the kick drum and bass sharing a channel. We should work together on something some time (hint hint)...
  11. Thanks, llabnip! Glad you enjoyed the episode and indirect 'shout out'. We all know Rick doesn't do NAMES, so the fact that he even remembered that "some guy" did it is pretty impressive. 😜
  12. Yes, I accept full responsibility for taking a joke farther than most people would think possible. You're welcome! 😜 ...and a big thanks to my fellow podcasters who participated in the silliness. I won't name names to spoil the fun for those who haven't listened yet.
  13. I received my 2 "DISC on the LEFT" controllers a few days ago. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet but they look great! I'd like to be added to the list to get 2 of the "DISC on the RIGHT" versions as well when they are available. Thanks!
  14. I left in September 2021 on my own accord. The NDA is still in place. Perhaps one day I'll tell some stories, but yeah, in general I have moved on and don't feel compelled to talk about it. And I don't really participate in or read threads about it here, but this popped up since you tagged me.
  15. Thanks, Lathe. I was feeling kinda down about missing PRGE this year. Now I'm not.
  16. I have considered having the cables custom manufactured, and have reached out to a couple companies about doing that. Never got a response. The cables aren't particularly difficult to make, just time consuming. The part I dread the most is packaging and shipping (and customs forms). That is pure drudgery! If I do start making them again, I may end up partnering with Blue Sky Rangers (Steve Roney and Emily Rosenthal) for sales and distribution. I did that in the past, and it worked well. Sure, I didn't make as much from the sales, since they were getting a percentage, but I really don't make that much selling on my own either. DIY kits are an option, but in all the time I was making them, no one ever asked. It seems that most people don't know how or want to solder and do the assembly. And in other threads here, I've posted the part numbers and source for the components I use, so anyone here is free to try making them. I know some other folks here have already done that.
  17. I haven't made my adapter cables in quite some time. I do have the parts needed to make more (A LOT more), but the fact that there are probably 120+ people who have been asking for them over the past few years (and most are asking for multiple pairs), the idea of sitting in my garage making 600+ cables is more than a little daunting. I honestly don't know where I'd find the time to do that. In the meantime, I'm maintaining a waiting list. If the mood strikes me I will start making them again. I can't give any kind of ETA though. As Morrissey said... "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday"
  18. Yeah, there were a lot of staples. They were removed last week. I took a couple pictures of that process, but I'll spare you those images!
