In my city there is a new homeless 'tent city' of maybe 200 tenters in a public park near me.  They used to be scattered around the city, but this park has been recently reserved for homeless tenters and has cleaning stations, porta-potties, etc. to maintain health and cleanliness.

On Sunday I stopped by a dollar store across the road to buy some cheap cleaning supplies. I was surprised to see sheets of plywood boarding over the windows. When I asked about it, I was told that the store has suffered several smashed windows and break-ins over the last 10 days. Before the homeless campers arrived, nothing.

Now the province and city have made agreements with several cheap hotels and motels that are sitting empty.  The tenters will now move out of the park into these rooms.  I hope the hotels are prepared for the onslaught.  I'm guessing that some of these places were dumpy to begin with, and the owners see this as an opportunity to get these rooms trashed - and then renovated on the taxpayer dime.  

The cops are too busy with sting operations so they can arrest women for cutting hair in their houses. No time for drug dealers.

@TwentySixHundred @RodLightning Been there, done that. I've given the cops more than enough info to have taken care of this scumbag a long time ago. Descriptions, license plate numbers, names. Beyond frustrating.
