I've had two Trooper II joysticks... I like the feel of them, very much like a CX-40, but I broke the first one within a week and the second within a month. Debating whether or not to try a third.

 

The stick itself is a piece of plastic that screws into the base, and both times the stick snapped off right at the threads. I'm not a particularly aggressive or violent player and this makes me question the quality.

Trying to devise a more robust solution to rebuild the one I have.

[Favorite Cart style?]

My favorite 8-bit cart style is the modern XL/XE style reproduction used for Laura, Flob, Last Squadron, Scramble, onEscape.. and others. Looks great and fits every 8-bit, including the 800 and 1200XL.

 

BITD, the Activision carts were amazing for their small form factor, nice grippy sides and large picture labels. Also can't fault the old-school brown/metal Atari carts.

Atari should've built this into the 1200XL instead of the useless Fuji rainbow screen, or into the other XLs and XEs as part of the self test code.
