One soundtrack edition, please! I'm in the US.
Love this game and looking forward to playing through it again with "real software".

Shadow or Pokey would be fine with me
Ken
Pokey seems the more appropriate choice for an Atari.

Lode Runner, and Championship Lode Runner artifact.
Lode Runners Rescue was 3D improved color and sound effects, you could make your own levels and screens etc. too.
There are modified versions of Lode Runner and Lode Runner II that use ANTIC mode E for proper color without artifacting.
Lode Runner is another favorite of mine, a 'desert island' title for the endless replay value due to the construction set. Great game.

When I got my 130XE, I got a bunch of cartridges (20-ish?) with it. Star Raiders and Shamus were the only two I couldn't get to work. Star Raiders eventually sorted itself out and lived up to the hype, but I've never been able to get Shamus to work.
For me, I think I've had the most fun with Rescue on Fractalus, but Star Raiders is a contender. If I've got a second player, though, I think Ballblazer clinches it.Shamus on cartridge only works with OS-B on the 400/ 800. It's a fun game and definitely worth seeking out a patched version.
Oh, and my vote also goes for Star Raiders. Star Raiders is the defining game of the Atari 8-bit experience. So immersive, really plays to the system's hardware, endless replay value.
Other personal favorites are Millipede and Defender for arcade action. Yoomp! is a fun visual stunner and ADAM is Me is a fantastic unique puzzler.

I bought a 1030 modem on eBay for absolutely no reason other than nostalgia (it was the first modem I ever owned, and I sold mine decades ago) and because I wanted all of the XL-designed peripherals.
I wonder how many phone calls my family missed due to my adolescent self tying up the line with my 1030.. I miss the days of BBSes and warez!

You've certainly come a long way from those humble beginnings...

You should also plug it in and verify that both the head and platen move on power up. 1020s are notorious for two small plastic gears that have a pretty much 100% failure rate.

Okay, hardware newbie question here... what model EEPROM would I need to burn this on to try on real hardware?
And would it be possible to flash this into one of the AtariMax APE 32-in-1 OS slots?

That's a good deal on the Amdek drive.. wish I had the spare cash at the moment.

Feature request: could you please change the default left margin to zero? Setting it to two was only marginally useful BITD, and useless and wasteful in this era.

All is good, now we can chill to the dulcet sounds of Baker Street.
"Dulcet". Now there's a word that doesn't get enough use these days.

Thank you for your kind words, and I'm sorry for your loss, Doctor. The pain never fully recedes. I still lose it with little warning over McLaren. Pictures, memories, a bump in an old thread mentioning him...
Besides McLaren, we lost his brother Julius earlier in the year. McLaren was 15 and in failing health, Julius was an unexpected shock at 14. Two of our female cats gave birth last summer and three of the four kittens did not make it. 2022 was not a kind year to our cat family.

BASIC on Commodore PETs in elementary school in the late 70s and early 80s... Turned to Atari BASIC shortly after on a friend's 400 and my own 600XL. Eventually picked up a little 6502 assembly, though I'd never call myself a coder..

I'm assuming that the 7800-Mini will also play 2600 carts, so it gets my vote.

That XL power supply is the dreaded 'ingot' variant. Not to be trusted. Their failure mode is overvoltage and they tend to take most of the chips in the computer with them when they go.
Belongs at the bottom of your nearest body of water, or at least your trash can.

No XEGS cartridge requires more than 64K of memory. The XEGS had 64K RAM stock from Atari.

Agreed. It's always a bit disappointing when programmers don't even bother to stray from the gold/ blue/ green/ red default palette. Still not a bad Kaboom! clone. I would've enjoyed this one as a kid.
