  1. Got a few more games in tonight.... best I could manage was an 18:56 @ 147. I'm getting there! Just haven't quite figured out the right departure time to hit the traffic sweet spots.
  2. You can't beat 5200 Dig Dug! Or Centipede.. Or Qix.. Or Pole Position... Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club..
  3. Yeah, I hear some Kraftwerk in there, but honestly it reminds me of Frontline Assembly. Great track, looking forward to hearing more of your work. Thanks for sharing!
  4. Thanks for the extension, Bob! Feels great to revisit this game from a real Activision floppy on real hardware after years. I'd almost forgotten how "realistic" this game is - fuel consumption, police radar, weather, traffic... Unfortunately, I no longer have the reflexes of a 13-year-old! Here's my first two attempts, 22:45 @ 123 MPH and 21:01 @ 133 MPH. Crashed a lot, missed a few fuel stops and got pulled over once. I'll be playing more tomorrow and Thursday, I know I can beat this. I need to play around with the start time to figure out when I want to hit traffic. Thanks again, this is great fun and really takes me back. (Second pic is a bunch of my scores 'back in the day', circa 1986/87)
  5. Bit of a financial windfall this week... will finally be ordering a Harmony cart on Friday!

      Harmony cart is awesome.

  6. This track came up on my iPod at work today... My coworker asked me "Is that Front 242?".
  7. This is gonna be sweet... I'd preorder if I could.
  8. How did I just notice this?? This was one of my favorites, I spent DAYS playing this as a kid. Hopefully I can get a good run in before the deadline.
  9. Perhaps. I haven't tried them on my real machine, only emulation. I haven't turned my 1200XL off in days.. been playing RR on and off and I'm up to the 12th screen. I don't want to lose my place in case I can't get the codes to work. EDIT: That IS the problem... a quick program to monitor the value of CONSOL reveals that my PC can't deal with three function keys simultaneously. Both Altirra and Atari800win fail. Thanks, I was pulling my hair out! On an unrelated note, when and how do I pay for a copy of the SV edition of the cartridge? I sent a request and received a confirmation email, but no further information.
  10. I still can't get any level-skip codes (besides the first, SHIFT-OPTION) to work... Explain it one more time, for us dummies? If I understand the second one (SHIFT START SELECT OPTION) correctly: Hold down SHIFT. Press START. With START still held down, press SELECT. With START and SELECT still held down, press OPTION. Is this correct? The next one (SHIFT START SELECT OPTION START SELECT) is the same as above, but continues: ...with SELECT and OPTION still down, release START. With OPTION still held down, release SELECT. Correct?? So I need to keep SHIFT held down during the whole process, and every time a function key is called for, I press and hold it (along with any others that are already down) or release it if it's already pressed? LOVE the game, but the code system is maddening and needlessly complicated!
  11. The Tomek-8 cartridge will be something like that, from what I understand? I mean the additional computational power, it has no CF or SD storage capability...
  12. That looks seriously cool.. I might be interested in a complete, cased unit or a kit that includes a case.
  13. I for one would be interested in reading these, and I'd be grateful for a scan. Any of these old Atari documents should be archived digitally.
  14. Mine came safely in the mail this morning - it's a thing of beauty. Hope to have time to install it this weekend. Thank you, Sebastian!
  15. Take care of yourself, Curt.. Everything else can wait.
  16. 7800 Robotron is freakin' sweet! This console was made for this game!

  17. Thanks for the thorough writeup - I may attempt this myself one day.
  18. Exactly. Also, I'm assuming the prompt you were getting was a "READY" prompt? That's BASIC. Typing "DOS" from there will bring up the DOS menu / prompt and may allow you to load ML programs, depending on wether or not they get along with BASIC enabled. Anyway, glad to help. Enjoy.
  19. Are you disabling BASIC? Hold down the 'option' key when you power on the 800xl, or change the settings of your emulator.
  20. That is indeed a DOS prompt. You have to load the program by typing "TMC2" and pressing ENTER. (whoops! someone already replied while I was typing this!)
  21. Damn, I was hoping to purchase one of these beauties after the holidays... Guess I should have spoken up sooner! (Hoping for a second run)
  22. Pretty straightforward if a bit tedious repair that comes from long-term disuse. Another reason my 1200xl is my 'daily driver'. Congratulations on your purchase!
  23. Wow. I admit, I didn't spend a lot of time with RR on an emulator - I was waiting for an NTSC version to play on the real deal. Altirra or Atari800win with a modern USB gamepad is great if you don't have an XL, or to check something out quickly after downloading it, but I love hearing the SIO noise as the game loads from a floppy, and the look and feel of a composite monitor and a CX40. To me, it's much more impressive seeing something like this run on a 30 year old machine, than a PC. Now that I've spent a few hours playing, I'm blown away. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious or what everyone already knows, but this game is phenomenal! Brilliantly done - responsive controls, elegant, detailed graphics, crisp sounds, and a nice ramp-up in the challenge factor. Love the dual action / puzzle theme that demands both quick reflexes and a sharp mind. Fun, fun, fun! I'm glad this came out on a weekend so I have time to devote to it. I will definitely buy the cartridge when it's available.
  24. Enjoying Ridiculous Reality on my 1200XL
