The 1200xl has a very snug guide into the cartridge port, and some 3rd party carts do not slide in easily, or at all. Generally not an issue, but something to be aware of.

I would buy one, if the cart case will fit a 1200xl without modification.

I could kick myself for throwing out a half dozen or so of these (along with a bunch of other original boxes) during a move 20 or so years ago. Beautiful collection.

This may have already been asked, but are there plans to port Tempest to the 8-bit computers? Hopefuly with support for the Indy 500 paddles? I'd pay $50 for that...

Really enjoying the game on emulation and can't wait for an NTSC version. I'm puzzled as to why it won't run on my 1200xl with PAL ANTIC.. The 'up to jump' can easily be remedied in emulation by remapping the joystick if you prefer.. And nearly as easily with a real joystick by rewiring it. And I'd like to add my vote for the ability to turn off the music, not just in this game, but in general. Call me old school, but 99% of the time, I prefer just sound effects.

You're both right... I can learn to live with it. I can run Marbled without an emulator, and Dropzone is actually playable now! It's not like I have a shortage of other machines to use in stock NTSC form. I think I'll keep the tricked out 1200xl as my PAL machine, and when my Incognito board comes for my 800, I'll have a kick-ass NTSC box.

Thanks for the info, guys... I've bought my chip from Best and it does indeed work without swapping OS and syncs fine with my monitor. However, some games run noticeably slower (Yoomp! is particularly objectionable) now. Is there a (relatively easy) fix for this? I've searched the forums for posts related to ANTIC swaps, but I can't find an answer. The topic of timing issues is barely mentioned... am I just hyper picky? Ideally, I'd like to have both chips in my machine and be able to switch between them. I know this has been brought up before, but again, no definitive answer.

Is a Commodore 1702 up to the task?

I've been wanting to do the PAL upgrade on one of my machines for some time now... Dying to play Marbled, among others, on real hardware. The Nir Dary upgrade consists of replacing the ANTIC and OS chips - since my 1200XL already has the Atarimax Warp+ 32-in-one OS mod, can I simply swap my ANTIC chip out for a PAL version and switch in one of the PAL OSes from my Atarimax menu? Seems like a no-brainer to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

I just found out about this... I guess that's what I get for spending most of my time in the 8-bit and 5200 forums. Scramble was one of my favorites in the arcades, and I'd like to add my voice to the chorus clamoring for a copy.. Please make another run or make it available in the AA store!

This sounds like Candle's Incognito board, unless I've misunderstood something... Of course, the GUI has yet to be incorporated, but I'm hoping to eventually replace my upgraded 1200xl with an "Ultimate" 800 (with GUI) as my primary machine.

Can't pass this gem up, especially at that price. I'm in for one.
