  1. Commodore 1702 is the way to go... Yeah, I'm 'sleeping with the enemy', but the display is so crisp.
  2. I'd go with the intro song for Alternate Reality, the driving music in Electraglide, or maybe the background music in Ninja. I still catch myself humming all three.
  3. Love the graphic design... simple and elegant.
  4. I was hoping for at least $150... I paid $200 a few years ago on eBay, but I honestly don't know what they're going for today. If I'm being hopelessly optimistic, please tell me. adam
  5. Looking to sell my SWP ATR-8000, if current market values are high enough. It's a basic model (no Co-Power board or HD interface) but it does have a 64k print buffer. The hardware works, I used to run 3.5" floppies with it, but for several years it's just been a display piece in my collection. Includes the owner's manual and CP/M supplement, and five 8" floppies: -MyDOS V3.18 -MyDOS V3.013 (these first two disks are in the same sleeve, that's why there's only 4 in the photo) -CP/M update disk -ATR8000 Sysdisk CP/M v2.2 (this one has "bad disk do not use" written in ballpoint on the label) -ATR8000 Auto-term I cannot verify any of the floppies, I don't have an 8" drive. Please ask any questions, or PM me with an offer. Thanks!
  6. Damn... that's disappointing - I was really looking forward to this one. Wish I had the skills to pick up where you guys left off, but I'm a mediocre TurboBASIC programmer at best.
  7. Got a 600XL for Christmas in '84 after loving my friends' 400 and 800. I'm 38 now and still rocking a 1200XL Representing the 313!
  8. Back in the day, it was a 130XE with stereo POKEY, function key mod and upgraded video, two 1050s, a Supra 1200 modem, a 1020, a Seikosha dot-matrix with an ICD Printer Connection, Atari touch tablet and a (different) Competition Pro with self made rapid fire and remote Start button mods. Oh, and a self made speech synthesizer. All hooked up to an Amdek monitor and stereo amp. Miss those days.. good times.
  9. Here's my setup: Atari 1200XL with 32-in-1 OS upgrade, 256K and Super Video 2.1 Stock Indus GT 1050 with write-protect override switch Commodore 1702 Competition Pro joystick Home-built SIO2PC cable There's a lot more in my collection that I rotate in occasionally, but this is my actual working setup. Not overly elaborate, but it qualifies as 'dream' to me!
  10. Loving the 32-in-1 OS upgrade in my 1200XL!

  11. My three cats and I like this.

      Same here! Great mod!

  13. You could have a go at the "super IRG" mode games like Gem Drop as these are hard to get a clear capture of without flicker. Nice picture quality on the Dark Chambers one btw. New Breed Software Cheers, Simon Wonder if they'll ever finish Cat5Walk. That game's been "coming soon" for a few years...
  14. The way to go is picking up an XL or XE and installing the AtariMax 32-in-1 OS upgrade. This gives you software compatibility with the entire range of Atari 8-bit machines, without the need for a 'translator' disk. Easy to install, easy to use, the price is right. And if you want to be able to run all the latest current releases, a memory upgrade isn't too hard to do either. You forgot to list your Atari cat in your tagline:) His name is Julius... that's his favorite place to hang out, on top of my collection.

  16. This is the first number here similar in format to mine (945 3375). The hand-written paper sticker says 948 5663. Are you sure whether the embossed number starts with 8 or 9? If the early numbers have the format YWW NNNN then yours was made in the 48th week of 1979. Could be an '8', a '9' or maybe a 'G'... the stamp is weak... Probably a '9' as you suggest. I just don't get the "G" stamped where most owners have a model number. The 400 is especially near and dear to me, as it was my introduction to Atari 8-bits. A friend down the the street had one (with a 410 tape drive), and playing Star Raiders and programming in BASIC was nothing short of magic to me in the early 80s. That's why I de-converted mine back to the membrane keyboard... complete nostalgia. A friend of his was lucky enough to have an 800 with an 810. I was hooked and begged my parents to buy me a 600XL. Sorry if I'm rambling... up late and enjoying a few cocktails. Probably edit this post in the morning.
  17. I picked up my 400 in a box of other Atari stuff at a college-town thrift store a few years back... It has a weird (monochrome) composite video out mod, 48K (I think) and had a full-stroke keyboard that I promptly replaced with the original membrane the previous owner had thoughtfully held onto and included in the box. I don't quite know what to make of the label on the bottom. Here's a pic: It also has "8 48 5663" embossed at the very rear middle of the case bottom.
  18. Here are most of my rare (or at least less common) ones...
  19. I've slowly built up a pretty good collection of cartridges I'd like to post a picture or two of... How do the rarity ratings of Atarimania compare to those of Digital Press? Some I have don't rate that high on DP, but Atarimania considers them much rarer. Which is more accurate? Also, I didn't know the K-byte version of K-Razy Kritters had become so valuable. Is the same true of K-Razy Shootout?
  20. Not eBay, but a good find... How about Super Zaxxon and 8 other carts (bunch of commons, but a few I didn't already have, including Star Wars the Arcade Game) for $35 locally on craigslist? I thought it was worth an hour-each-way drive...
  21. Facebook is the biggest waste of time on the internet... or maybe a close second to Twitter.
  22. Just came across this from a Google search... is this still available to download somewhere? I'd like to check it out...
  23. Wow! I picked one of these up on eBay a few years ago for quite a bit less... perhaps I should throw it back up!
  24. Here's a clean NTSC Revision B: And an NTSC Revision "X9B" modified with 64K and composite video: Sorry I can't help you with a revision 3, my third 600XL is also a revision B..
  25. but not with a standard 400 or 600xl as they only have 16k, barely enough for DOS never mind loading a game:P and the _nuxx are all sold out True, but a upgrading a 600XL to 64k is super cheap and easy. You then have a smaller 800xl essentially, with the ability to use disk drives and later XE cartridges.
