  1. I know, I hate to simply throw out ANYTHING that is old Atari. It's not like they still make these.
  2. I have an Atari 410 cassette drive that I am about to dispose of for, lets just say 'cat-related issues'. Is there anything in one of these worth cleaning and saving besides the SIO cable? And can anyone tell me the pinout/ wiring color code for this? Its late here and I can get out my Fluke tomorrow...
  3. I had completely forgotten Z*Mag until you just reminded me.. having trouble finding it on archive.org... edit: Nevermind, I found Z*Net.
  4. Lode Runner - A 'construction set' game offers literally limitless entertainment. Great American Cross Country Road Race - my favorite A8 racing game with many different options Planetfall - gotta include a text adventure Alley Cat - Synapse's finest game and cats are awesome! Star Raiders - duh! Runners-up include many excellent recent offerings, such as Bosconian and Stunt Car Racer
  5. Are you positive (pun intended!) that the battery is oriented correctly? https://forums.atariage.com/topic/209651-incognito-post-install-problem/?do=findComment&comment=2709959
  6. Satan's Hollow Juno First Aquatron Are three oldies-but-goodies.. Highly recommended. Aquatron requires OS-B (not XL/XE) to run, but there is a fixed version out there.
  7. From left to right, the wire colors are red, (skip), black, white. So it would appear that yours should translate to: Black = Red cut white = no connection Purple = Black Grey = White With your Black being closest to the asterisk on the board. AtariMax 800XL installation instructions link
  8. You owe me a Coke, x=usr(1536)! or maybe I owe you one! ?
  9. The second jack is smaller than the others, 3/32" vs 1/8", like those used for start/stop control on a tape deck. This could be an internal cassette deck interface? But that wouldn't explain the other two.. No way to really even guess at this without opening her up and seeing what's what.
  10. Not at all, just answered my own question and deleted the post. Enjoyed this episode quite a bit, I'll have to set up one of my larger CRTs and revisit some light gun goodness!
  11. Caps Lock, my friend. Please stop yelling.
  12. Doesn't DOS need more than 16K to load to a usable state? Booting DOS 2.5 in Altirra set as a 16K 800 machine results in exactly what the OP describes. This appears to be normal behavior, and can be fixed by upgrading the machine's memory. Oddly, if Altirra is set as a 48K machine, DOS does not try to load the RAMdisk handler.
  13. Just tried this in Altirra set as an NTSC-50 machine, and am very excited to see that it works! Can't wait to try it on my PAL ANTIC swapped real hardware!
  14. Very nice! Enjoying this in Altirra and looking forward to an NTSC compatible version.
  15. The Intec board with the MSM5832RS chip appears to be a real-time clock board. Never seen one of those before. It's a shame how "modified" the case is! In shipping, I presume?
  16. RIP this unit: I bought this one a while back on eBay and as too many of us can relate to, it was horribly packaged and arrived with a badly damaged case. Now becoming an organ donor to save others.
  17. Any chance you'd share the source code for this? I'm very interested to see how this is accomplished.
  18. I hear that. I have a nice, clean working 1702, and I'm in SE Michigan. Picked mine up at the curb about 20 years ago. One of my best finds.
  19. Looks and sounds fantastic! So much life is left in our 40+ year old machines...
  20. This is awesome! No more hoping that the official A8 prototype ROM will be discovered and dumped.
  21. Or the cassette itself could be corrupt. Not exactly unheard of.
  22. Simple and fun, what an 8-bit game should be.
