Maybe if I understood how to manipulate the monsters better, I'd enjoy the game more.  Seeing how low these scores are (Except Oyama has done pretty well), it can't be just me that finds 5200 Jr Pac-Man frustrating.

It’s a pretty famously difficult game.  The 2600 version is particularly known for being brutal.  I don’t think the two points you raised are unique to the 5200, I’m fairly sure they also apply to the arcade original.

That is a bad, bad bug.   It's stopped at least 10 of my games.   The other annoying bug is you'll pass through a bonus item sometimes.  Especially when there are some monsters in the same general area, the bonus item collision doesn't work.   Hate that!

10 games?!  Ouch that sucks, man.  I remember playing the "Glen the 5200 man" conversion ages ago and wondering what on earth happened.  So I at least wanted to give folks new to the game a heads up.

It would be nice if someone could fix this old annoying bug, but I'm sure if it was easy to do so, someone would have done it by now.

  7. Welcome to the ninth round of the 17th 5200 HSC season.  Jr. Pac-man was in a three-way tie with Galaxian and Koffi, but won the die roll.  Play using the default settings.  Emulation is fine, as are custom controls. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC wins and records.

Beware a bug in this one… if you die while a energizer is being destroyed by a roaming bonus item, you will be unable to clear the board.  Try to avoid this!

The high score was set by Mangia-Boy with 48,840 points.  Beat this if you can for a bonus point!

  8. RB5200 smashes another record and mashes the most mutants to take the top spot.  Kudos and a bonus point as well to Northcoastgamer for also breaking the previous record.

    Jr. Pac-man is up next.

I have a PC can you help?

    Sure.

Download the Altirra emulator from here...

    https://www.emutopia.com/index.php/emulators/item/271-atari-5200/1705-altirra

It's the first link under downloads.

Unzip the file to a preferred location.

Download the BBSB rom from here to the same location:

    https://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=718

    Unzip it.

    Run the Altirra64 program.

There's a startup wizard, choose the defaults other than to choose Atari 5200 instead of the 8-bit computers

Then use File->Open Image and select the Bounty Bob rom.  (I got some odd error the first time I did this, but it worked the second time)

BBSB should be running now.  F2 to start, arrow keys to move, Ctrl to Jump, number keys to use elevators.

    Hope this helps!

out of curiosity, if you submit a 0 score do you still get the last place points?

I don’t think it’s ever come up before, but I’m going to have to say no.  The whole world would be entitled to a tie for last place with that logic.  You gotta at least try to play the game.

I’m sympathetic that this cartridge is nearly unobtainable, and that the earlier Atarimax cart won’t play it, but as I said before, emulation is entirely an option.  Also, the recent Atari50 compilation release includes BBSB… that could certainly be used here as well.
