Just wondering why you would make this suggestion.  The controls work amazing (when working) and really utilize the 5200 analog advantages.

I don’t know that the cx-52 stick is quite as good as a 2600 paddle with a 2600 Breakout game, but its certainly not bad.  My 2600/5200 hybrid paddle seems to have become rather prone to glitches, so I stuck with the stick.

  3. Welcome to the eighth round of the 16th 5200 HSC season. Zaxxon won the poll by a single vote.  Play using the default settings.  Emulation is fine, as are custom controls. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC wins and records.

The high score was set by Gabriel with a score of 103,100 points.  Beat this if you can for a bonus point!

For this game, I'd suggest opening a controller and just using the L-R pot to turn like a paddle knob. If doing so, note the directions will be reversed. Switching the outer wire to the opposite side terminal, will fix that.

I don’t suppose replacing the 5200 pot with a 2600 paddle pot and attaching its knob would be considered legitimate?   Still all OE Atari equipment, just with some of it originally meant for another console.

On the first 2 difficulty settings, there is only 1 dreadnaught to destroy.  Maybe next time we should bump up to a higher one.  There is an explanation in the instructions:

No one has even entered a score yet, so let's go ahead and bump this to level 5.  My bad, I forgot that the default was just 1 dreadnaught.  How dull!  Let's do level 5, with 10 dreadnaughts, that should get the blood racing!  I edited the top post accordingly.

Well if it is true that most atari flashbacks systems including the atari flashback 7 wich i do own now are just based on nes hardware

No, only the very first Atari Flashback, the one shaped like a 7800, is based on NES hardware.   All the others do use 2600 roms and either Atari-on-chip

    hardware or emulation.
