  1. Thanks so much, @IMBerzerk! I had just about given up but now, although this sounds like a pain, at least it should work.
  2. I'm having a kind of similar problem as @Paul Lee above, but I didn't even get as far as he did. I am looking into getting a Bluetooth 8BitDo Pro 2 to work with my Ultimate Intellivision Flashback for Intellivision gaming. I got it to pair in Retropie Setup, but Emulation Station doesn't seem to recognize it. I tried the Configure Input option from the ES menu, but it just says 2 gamepads are detected as it always does. I'm guessing it should say 3 once it has recognized the 8BitDo. When I enter the Configure Input screen, I've confirmed the LED on the gamepad to indicate pairing is on, and there's no other machine around with Bluetooth enabled that it could be accidentally paired to. Another thing I checked in Retropie-Setup is a screen where you can configure the order of connected controllers. Long story short, the 8BitDo controller doesn't show up there at all. If anybody has any advice to get this working I'd appreciate it! I'm looking to improve my Shark! Shark! game with less hand pain once I'm 20 minutes in - my aging hands can't handle the original Intellivision controllers for too long anymore. ? Thank you!

    MenuMaker 0.3

@SpiceWare it works! To be a little more precise, the following was my test: Ran MenuMaker_04beta2.app on my M1 Mac running MacOS Monterey (12.1) Deleted all the .men files, as well as the .rtf file from the SD card. Clicked the make button and waited until it succeeded. Popped the SD card in the "new" (2019) VecMulti, powered on the Vectrex, and saw a non-garbled menu. Tried loading a game (Armor Attack) and it ran. Great to know there's a functioning, MacOS-native version for the new VecMultis. Thanks for the work you do for the Vectrex community!

Great - I'll give it a test run on my newer VecMulti probably tomorrow morning.

    MenuMaker 0.3

Wow, it's so simple. Apologies for the mixup. I take it you don't need me to send the .rtf file then? I have no problem doing so if you do need it; just sounds like you've got it figured out already is all. ?

    MenuMaker 0.3

Update: I got the MenuMaker.exe from the SD card to work in Crossover. I've attached a couple of screenshots to demonstrate, that may help somebody else out there. Before the first screenshot, I had created a Bottle in Crossover - I don't think I set any special settings - you can just do Bottle -> New Bottle and select Windows 7 or 10, or whatever. Now, when the MenuMaker app would launch, I would press the MAKE button and get a file write error. Turns out I had to grant "Network" drive access in MacOS to get that to work. But I wasn't prompted by the OS to grant such access when the MenuMaker requested the access. The way I got it was in the wine configuration editor in Crossover, I tried to browse the SD card mounted to /Volumes/VECMULTI, and THEN once I hit the Browse button, I was prompted to grant access, so I did. Smooth sailing from there. You can probably just go to your security settings and set up these permissions, rather than do so in a reactive manner. Not sure of the specific steps offhand. Screenshots don't show the error or the prompt to grant permissions - I didn't capture those. And of course, I confirmed that the VecMulti menu worked. That's all I've got for now!

    MenuMaker 0.3

@SpiceWare Here you go sir. Just to be clear: the attachment is a zip containing the four .men files generated by the Windows MenuMaker.exe included on the SD card that comes with the 2019 VecMulti (I believe I have that year right). MenuMaker.exe is also included in the zip. I only added four roms to the Games dir that I generated the menu for, as I figure for the purpose of reverse engineering the format, it might be best to have multiple items but not an overwhelming number of them. (I guess there's one .menu file per rom?) Let me know if you need anything else though. Below is a video of my test run. The generated menu seems to work, but I did encounter a separate technical issue that I'm just documenting here. In short, it appears I can't load any ROMs unless I hit the reset button once. I don't think it's the menu's "fault" but rather a VecMulti bug or limitation. Thank you! MenuMakerFilesForSpice.zip

Thank you for the response @SpiceWare and I appreciate you looking at this. I can borrow my wife's Windows laptop (I only have a Macbook Pro and a couple of Linux boxes) and run MenuMaker.exe that was preinstalled on the SD card packaged with the VecMulti. Hopefully it will work for me and I can send you the resulting menu files as well. Just as an aside, I also tried running MenuMaker.exe using Crossover (which I mainly use for games) but no luck there, heh. I'm kind of new to Crossover so maybe it just needs a config tweak that I'm not aware of. I've attached screenshots for the morbidly curious.

    MenuMaker 0.3

Hi @SpiceWare - I'm not having luck getting the generated menu to work. Might you have any idea why the menu is mangled as shown in this video? It was suggested to me by a member of the FB group Vectrex Fans Unite that I could try truncating the filenames to 12 characters each. I did so and had no luck. (The video only shows my attempt with the original, longer file names.) I'm on MacOS Monterey (12.1), using MenuMaker 0.3. I confirmed the SD card was formatted to FAT. Thanks.
  10. Hello, I am not too intimate with the culture/rules of this site. But I see some status updates being reacted to with hostility, like "stop posting this s***". One user, who is apparently now suspended, said he would react to all of the status updates with the "confused" reaction because they're stupid, or something approximately like that. I figured your own status updates were kind of your own personal space to post whatever you want, and people interested in the post can comment, so why would anyone bother poking their heads in and then getting upset? BUT I also saw that there's a Blog feature, so maybe that's more appropriate for random, personal posts? Just want to make sure I understand the correct, intended uses of these features. Thanks!
  11. Since I now have a working Vectrex again (YES!!), last night I revisited my original Youtube streaming style that I started doing in March 2020. It is called "Saturday Night Vectrex in the Dark." Like the title suggests, I play Vectrex games...in the dark!

I had so much fun and the stream was heavily watched by my small channel's standards! I will definitely do this again. I'm thinking of doing it the first Saturday of every month. Love that unique and crazy machine. :)

A glimpse at my Youtube stats shows how much more popular this stream was compared to my other videos/streams, in terms of hours watched! I've been over the moon today after the stream's success. Which is good because otherwise I'd be "blah" because I have to go back to work after two weeks off. ?

I am the strictest person I know when it comes to rigid rules about xmas decorations or lights.  That being said, lights are allowed to be left up until the 1st or the very next weekend.  An additional week may be granted for extreme weather /cold /snow hindering removal efforts especially with concern for ladders and the elderly.

      This is the way.

I think you meant to reply to a different status update, @Max_Chatsworth. ?

But regarding the Christmas lights, I am not strict personally. Whenever someone gets around to it within reason, I say. I did live across the street from someone who NEVER took them down though, and that just looks lazy. They just didn't turn them on until the Christmas season.

  12. For me it's the game that saved Christmas of 1991. Hah! Briefly, my story is I got the Neo Geo in Sept. 1991 (won on Video Power), and my dad generously bought me a game for Christmas that same year. It was Ninja Combat and I didn't like it as me and my brother could play through it so easily with the infinite continues. So I was disappointed. But my dad was able to exchange it for Magician Lord, which blew me away with its awesomeness. I played that a ton. It was so hard but I loved the atmosphere, the music, the bizarre-looking, enemies. Really fun game if you don't mind the difficult.
  13. I love Magician Lord! If you played the AES version, that's an impressive accomplishment. If MVS well that's still cool.
  14. Wow that's really beautiful! Should you ever do another run, I'm totally in. ?
  15. lol Anthony, if you had asked me to guess what you did on Christmas, I would say exactly this. ? Hope you had a great time! Have you tried XenoCrisis yet? I'm thinking of buying the ROM and playing it on a stream sometime soon!
  16. My sist--errr I mean Santa Claus got me a neat Neo Geo-related gift today for Christmas: it's the Magician Lord Original Soundtrack on vinyl by Wayô Records. Magician Lord features one of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time, and I've been bitten by the vinyl-collecting bug recently, so that works out nicely. Thanks Santa. ?

    Merry Christmas, everyone!

@NeonPeon Oh WOW!!! What a gift to receive from your sister Mark. I always wanted to have the Magician Lord soundtrack for my collection. So glad you have it bro.  :)

@Charlie Cat it's really beautiful to see the cover artwork in such a large form, and the rear side art is something I've never seen before. I love the translucent disc as well.

My only complaint is the disc itself looks like it has a bunch of small nicks in it. I haven't had a chance to listen yet but, but I hope these nicks don't affect the audio. If you zoom in on the last pic you can see them. For example there's a few right next to the center label, at about 9 o'clock. And more at the very outer edge of the disc at about 2 o'clock.

  17. Youtube sent me my 2021 stats for my small gaming Youtube channel, Mark W and Rob Bob Present. Most of my content consists of livestreams: I play emulated retro games on Mondays at about 9:00pm - that stream is called "Monday MAME," and a random PC gaming stream (new and old games) typically played with my son known as Rob Bob, called "Saturday Night Gaming" also at around 9:00pm. Other than that I have some videos of random kinds of gaming, even non-video games such as Tunnels & Trolls gamebooks. I also have uploaded two videos of the game show I was on in 1991, Video Power.

I look at the "Thank you for your 502 likes, 233 comments" stats and think, probably about 50 of each of those numbers are from our very own @Charlie Cat ! I always get comments from him a day or two after my livestreams, as he watches the archives, and he always leaves such a nice comment that makes me feel good about what I'm doing here! So huge thanks to Anthony and anyone else here who might watch and interact. For me it's all about just that - the fun and interaction. I have no delusions about making it big and I don't ever plan to monetize with ads. (BTW, sometimes Youtube throws in ads anyway and only they make money from them!)

Ah well, at any rate here are some of the neat stats!

Hard for me to wrap my head around 118,800 minutes of that single Video Power episode being watched...That's 82.5 full, 24-hour days' worth. lol

@NeonPeon Excellent work on a job well done Mark. Thank you for the thoughtful words and glad I can help contribute to your channel since you do plenty for us to enjoy. Always a pleasure to see you in action on your videos you provide. Also, a special thank you for participating with us on the Neo-Geo thread bro. We hope to see your AES unit back working again soon Mark. :)

  18. Awesome news @Mik's Arcade! I've never heard of the original, but I'll give yours a try sometime soon.
  19. I introduced my almost-three-year-old daughter to Intellivision yesterday and today. She had seen me play before, but hadn't tried playing herself until now. Her favorite seems to be World Championship Baseball so far, as she loves cackling with glee whenever the batter makes contact with the ball. She yells "BAM!" every time, imitating me the first time I got a hit. ? She can't utilize the controller too well yet but she's trying. I feel like I'm passing down the awesome to another generation. ? My son (13) likes playing with me as well, especially Utopia.

  20. Hey was just browsing this thread and I think you've got this wrong...I only have about 150 subscribers and I've been streaming typically twice a week since March 2020. I had even fewer when I started. I think you might be referring to the 1000 subscribers threshold for streaming directly from the phone app.
  21. I've signed up for Shark! Shark! I will likely do a livestream on my Youtube channel for the interaction, and play additional games as well.
  22. Thanks for the plug Anthony! What a game Nam 1975 is - it's intense and high pressure from the get-go and rarely lets up. ?
  23. Thanks for the plug, Anthony! I had a lot of fun and I'll probably play more Neo Geo games on my stream soon. Happy 7th to the big thread!
  24. Awesome. Thank you!! And thank you @Humblejack and @CaptainBreakout on the correction about lamination. That would've been an embarrassing purchase.
