  1. Cool! I'll try to submit one this year. I had a great time making a few for the b*nQ contest last year.
  2. I use Sega Genesis controllers, they're the best I have used yet. My joysticks went shitty, and I didn't want to buy any more controllers.
  3. I know, it really does, it's an incredibly fast game. I never really realized how fast it was until I watched this video of myself playing it. The game doesn't seem nearly as fast when you are playing it.
  4. Very fine playing. Yes, those single bucket recoveries were amazing. I don't believe I've ever done that. Game is over when I'm down to one. What a fantastic game in general though. Thanks, it took about 5 tries to get over 10,000 that day, so I don't play that well all the time. And yes, Kaboom is as close to perfect as a game can get. Nothing comes close to Kaboom and H.E.R.O. on the Atari.
  5. The first few misses you see were intentional, yes. After that, they are likely mistakes, Kaboom is not the easiest game. I try to just relax my eyes and go with the flow of the bombs instead of trying to catch each one. My highest score to date is 22,653, but it looks like quite a few people around hear have gotten much higher.
  6. Nothing all that exciting, but I had never seen any pictures or video of the post 10,000 points Kaboom Bomber's face before I shot this video today. For anyone that has never seen it or might not know, here it is: Sound is a tad out of sync and video quality is bad, but whatever.
  7. Ha, like I said I try to collect good, playable games. I have owned E.T. and several other games at one point but traded them in for others.
  8. Very cool. I see you also have Pitfall II, a Picture label Code Breaker, and a Picture Label Space Combat. Very nice. Thanks, that Codebreaker even has the black electrical tape over the misprint. It's basically a mint cartridge, found it locally for a quarter.
  9. Anyone know the current estimate of unique, individual games for the 2600 out there?
  10. Well, technically 98 unique titles, I have a label variation of Kaboom!, and a non-working Boxing. Nothing really rare or exciting but here it all is... I think Tapper, H.E.R.O, and a few Braizilian carts are the rarest I have, but I try to collect playable, fun games, not rare ones.
  11. Sky Jinks is pretty good, it's just not traditionally "enjoyable" gameplay. Freeway is good enough, it just doesn't last long. Laser Blast is quite terrible.
  12. Go the Brazilian games route, easy way to get those weird games to work on an NTSC console.
  13. Yeah, Tac-Scan is awesome, I would have never guessed the game would be that.
  14. That video about the making of Atlantis and Imagic was great. Imagic was surely one of the best companies at the time.
  15. Looks like I have a Sears Heavy Sixer. (Has round molding at the front and says it was manufactured in Sunnyvale) 77777U
  16. Could you post of picture of it? I'm sure most people here would like to see it.
  17. Past the deadline, don't worry about adding this. I'm not the best at this game, but here's my personal best: 46,420 on my 3rd try for the day, then I gave up after that, the game takes too long.
  18. I have ditched the joystick route. I just use a Sega Genesis controller, much easier. (Plus my joysticks were going out)
  19. Very nice, it's great to see those old commercials. Are these links to youtube, or how did you set this all up?
  20. Thanks (I'm Thomas), I've been drawing all the characters by hand with a sharpie then scanning them into photoshop. I'll see if I can produce another label design by the deadline. Looks like I have some serious competition.
  21. I'm assuming Venezuela is NTSC like Brazil. Right?
  22. Yeah, I've been trying to get a cart of it for a while, but had no luck. I like the game, but I give up quickly as it's pretty hard.
  23. Wow, very nice setup there, I have heard that's a nice projector. I'm not too serious about the whole projecting thing, so I don't have it mounted anywhere. I have taken it out in the backyard and projected on a white building. City of God at nearly 14 feet across is quite impressive.
  24. Projectors do not project black, only light. The blacks in the image are only as dark as the room you are projecting in. That's why people use projecors in the dark. My projecor is pretty nice in a dimly lit room, but of course, much nicer in a darkened one. No projector, no matter how good, will look amazing in a fully lit room. There is a new projection screen material out there for daytime watching, but it's something like 3 grand per foot.
  25. The Zoombox is a complete p.o.s. I still went with a budget projecotr, but still quite a good one. The Optoma DV10. 1000 lumens and a 4000:1 contrast ratio. Specs are never accurate, but still it's a much better projecter than even the high level ones of a few years ago. Not to mention, the built in dvd player is all hard-wired, so much better than any set-up (also it's region free). All the games shown there were emulators running through the pc. Hopefully soon I will find a way to hook up the real thing.
