  1. Hi, I tried to retr0bright a 1040 STF. The concern is that with retr0bright, I read a lot of articles that talked about "blooming" effect, especially about STs. Many articles also talk about UV lamp with the risk of having an halo effect and others that swear only by exposure to the sun of California...Yes but...I live in Brittany (France), a rainy part of my country... So I made my own experience. Here's the process: The Material : Clairol 40 (ebay) Varnish powder An aquarium heater to keep the water at a constant temperature (40°). A kitchen thermometer And a big plastic box. The dip : Protection of logos (top + bottom label) with a so-called waterproof paint tape. Filling of the box: Water + 1/2 box of varnish + the bottle of Clairol, starting of the goldfish heater with and check of the temperature. Result : After three days stirring from time to time...The atari came out...whiter than white (ultra bright) To compare, another STF that had about the same color before treatment. If you look closely, there are still spots, for example above the keyboard in the middle, there must have been a star-shaped sticker? The two parts didn't bleach the same way. Mystery! The logo is dead Conclusion : 1 - It works...But... 2 - It's too white! Better than before...not sure. Before, the brown was more uniform. This Atari was carried everywhere by his former owner (a musician), and he obviously took a lot of smoke, that leaves some spots that have not left. I doubt I can get anything uniform with any other process. 3 - No blooming effect. On the other hand, some spots can still be seen. 4 - The California sun...the uv lamps...It works. But in a back kitchen without window with water at 40° it also works. 5 - It looks like there are several kinds of plastic on the same part A grey one underneath and one that ended white on top. Same between the two parts: Same bath and both done at the same time, the results are different. And yes I swapped the parts during the process to try to have something uniform (failed...). 6 - The tape didn't protect the top logo, I still have to find a new one. However, the label with the serial number below is intact. Morality : Funny experiment to do but that cost me the price of a used STF so...Well...Not awesome
  2. Thanks Umberto, i'll send them an email for the STF. But their badges are different from the originals (but if i don't find any i'll see with this seller).
  3. Hi folks, I'm looking for a 1040 STF logo to replace mine (top case). Thanks
  4. An "Ultra Pong Doubles by ATARI" from…1977 ! I wasn't alone on this auction.... And it works perfectly on a modern TV (@60Hz for the channel) , fortunately in 1977 « planned obsolescence » wasn’t a fashion word ! ? The colors are a bit psychedelic…but it’s by design (more pictures on my website)
  5. Nice but far from the original. I mean the best part with shufflepuck was humour, the simple but efficient sounds effects and the fact that each opponent played differently. The music here is good but... The Amstrad CPC version was also great for a 8 bit :
  6. Thanks Irgendwer, i've tried this version and...It misses something, maybe some good background music and indeed a different set of colors.
  7. Excellent ! Do you plan to include a kind of switch on it for the Low/Med/Hi-res support ?
  8. Logical (i spent hours ont it). Simple graphics but quite difficult ShufflePuck Café (screenshot from ST)
  9. Hi walter_J64bit, If it works well i'm interested, i could'nt find any in France anyway... Thanks
  10. Hi @ll, My STF mouse is broken, so what's the best alternative ? - A jerry (USB input) - A TOM REV2 (USB input) - A Retrocable (PS/2) but it needs an old PS2 mouse... - A Stock Atari mouse as seen @best electronics (but 40$+shipping it's quite expensive), or a truemouse - A PeST PS2 to ST MOUSE INTERFACE as senn @exxohost (PS/2 also and out of stock) Or...something else ? Thanks, Marsup
  11. Really cool, do you intend to implement support for long file names in the future ?
  12. Hi Atari8bitCarts, 2 german cartridges are "missing" in your list (catalog #): MiKrosoft Basic (aka Microsoft Basic II) and Microsoft Basic II - RXG 7075 same reference, same content but different covers, both containnig the RX8035 (US) wich is in your list indeed
  13. Hi folks, Since some of you found this post usefull on my website, i've improved visibility : It's now here : https://atarinside.dyndns.org/blog/index.php/tutorial-how-to-dump-an-old-atari-cassettetape-to-a-cas-or-wav-file/ It's also the 1st birthday of atarinside and the 100th software release, thanks for your loyalty ! Best Regards, Marsupilami.
  14. Glad to see it helps, feel free to use it and share
  15. That's true but in that case you can use a8cas to transform your data track (only) from wav to cas then open the cas in Altirra, Cload then CSAVE your program in Altirra, convert it to wav again with a8cas and sync the result with your audio track in audacity. It's a long process but pretty reliable.
  16. In France, Atari sold "PAL" XLF first but they had problems to deliver enough quantity, that's why the XLF Pal is the rarest. The SECAM (XLF) was produced a few month later and the quality was better. If you want to know if it's an XLF Secam without opening it, just look at the rear, ie search the "TV switch (Color/B&W)" or the lack of coaxial output. This is a NTSC : http://atarinside.dyndns.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/AI/photo-gallery/NTSC.jpg This is a PAL (not XLF - no Freddie) http://atarinside.dyndns.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/AI/photo-gallery/PAL_001.jpg This is a SECAM XLF http://atarinside.dyndns.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/AI/photo-gallery/SECAM.jpg
  17. Try this : http://atarinside.dyndns.org/blog/index.php/tutorial-how-to-dump-an-old-atari-cassettetape-to-a-cas-or-wav-file/ If you choose the Altirra method, keep in mind that you must disable "C: patch cassette SIO" before Csaving. As the doctor Said, if you have audio on the left track, you can't convert your program to a cas file, so keep it as wav, but check the result : sometimes the "stop" signal is missing or not loud enough (used by your Atari to stop playing the tape while waiting for an input), you'll have to replace it. If you have no audio, a cas file will do the job.
  18. Hi, any news about Iridis 1 ? The snake game "ZAP" was published in Hebdogiciel, a french newspaper (here : http://download.abandonware.org/magazines/Hebdogiciel/hebdogiciel_numero028/03.jpg ) You'll find an ATR and the Basic file here : http://www.hebdogiciel.free.fr/hd-roms/atari/HEB28_Serpent.zip(http://www.hebdogiciel.free.fr/ATARI.htm). Unfortunatelly, there must be a problem in translation. Can someone find the error(s) ? Thanks
  19. Hi, Try to reload the home page CTRL+F5, this should be fixed now
  20. Welcome to the new Atarinside re(CLOAD)ed web site, here’s what you’ll find : As previously, the HD pictures of 800 XL’s motherboards which generated over 50,000 views on the old site, thank you all for your loyalty My tribute to these beautiful white and silver plastic boxes, many of which have never been preserved and are not -yet- even listed on the respected Atarimania. This is my current Atari France / Benelux / Deutschland / Italy /UK collection (72 boxes) including each : Dumps of cartridges ( French Logo …) and disks ( .PRO format). The stereo tapes containing audio data : I patiently restored audio, retimed and even repaired when the Atari masters were defective but sold as is ! Some tapes like « Initiation à la programmation en Basic 1, 2 et 3« are now 100% usable for the first time after 30 years, and available at .cas or .WAV format. The scans of my booklets (1200 pages). The scans of my covers. The transcript of the back covers in the original language. Advertisements (France only for now). The screenshots. The videos. The price in the 80’s in France. Anecdotes:Do you know that Atari Germany used a lot of music for its software? You will find Barry White in the BASIC learning cassettes (Programmieren leicht gemacht), Jean -Michel Jarre in « Time Bandit« , The Beatles in « Yokyu II« ? Can you recognize the music of Karriere ? For France, only « Des chiffres et des lettres » has a well known music … well … in France Will you be able to find the only program which was translated in 6 languages by ATARI? Do you know that Atari has made two versions of the Microsoft / MiKrosoft BASIC in Germany? Do you know who are Dagmar Berghoff, Seymour Papert or Essoukan Mouangue? The full reference list of those white/silver boxes for each country. For France only, the history of the Atari 800 XL linked to Jack Tramiel through the 80’s press. You can try to use the google translate tool on the right if you still want to read it. The list of what I have to share and the list of what I’m looking for.All this represents hundreds of hours of work, only one dump comes from the web (my original box has blister around), all the rest, except a few scans of newspapers, has been done by myself. Help yourself, have fun, however for the respect of the time i spent on this, a reference or a link to this site would be appreciated if you reuse something. Do you want to help me to find prices in newspapers, advertisements for your country, add a story, trade a box against another? Contact me here. I hope you’ll enjoy your stay, please subscribe and leave a comment ! A last word: english is not my native language so thanks for your comprehension with my mistakes, drop me an email/comment if you see any correction to do.
  21. Indeed. I made a binary file compare and both are identical. And i did it with the 2 Deutsch release : There is an alternate Deutsch « Microsoft Basic II » version (second release, labelled "MiKrosoft Basic") with : a different front cover (the back is the same) a different DOS disk. The same content (cart & docs) To take another example, the Deutsch release of LOGO wasn't translated either (or because of a lack of time from Atari ?): In the french release, all the instructions (ie "show turtle", "repeat", "forward"..) are translated in french (ie "montre tortue", "repete", "avance") but the deutsch cartridge is also the same than in the USA with everything in english (But the included booklets of course).
  22. Thanks Phaeron for your very clear answers (and your patience), i will try. Since i'm currently trying to backup some old tapes missing at "AM", i'll wait for the decoder tweaking
  23. Looking for Atari France, Germany, Italy And Benelux software
