  1. Very nice ! I think you're right indeed I also found this : "The [Microsoft] 1981 year-end sales total $17,331,000. The 1980 Calendar Year employee headcount totals 129 people. Notable employees hired: Tandy Trower, Jeff Raikes, Chris Peters and 100th employee Ellen Aycock." And here Byte Magasine P144 (1983) "Chris Peters is a system software engineer at Microsoft Corporation (..). In addition to the Mouse Project, he worked on Microsoft's Softcard and helped develop MS-DOS 2.0".
  2. Hi, Put your tape in your 1010. Press fast forward until the end of the tape. Now press Rewind and wait... Then try to load your tape. This will give the tape a better "standardized" alignement and the same "resistance" so If the 1010 motor / belt are tired, this will help a bit. I may not work but sometimes it helps
  3. Hi @ll, i've dumped the Deutsch Microsoft Basic II Cart, in fact it's exactly the same than the US release. But i'm a bit curious, so I opened the ROM it with an Hexa editor : Near the end, just before the copyright which is printed to the screen after boot, there is a hidden name : C PETERS›ATARI MICROSOFT BASIC II V2.0›© 1982 MICROSOFT› Was "C PETERS" the nickname of Bill in the 80's ?
  4. Nice, The documentation is huge (~300 pages) so i'm not sure i'll be able to do it quickly. But i have some pictures for you, see below. Regards, Marsup
  5. Hi, I finally managed to dump my first ROM ! First i had to use the same version of cartdridge dumper. There is a 2.0 release vailable but it killed 2 floppies.... Then - i formatted a blank floppy with Mydos45. I took some time to find because the Cartdridge dumper seems to write to this format only. - i followed your video - Used APE to transfert the floppy to an ATR File. - Opened the ATR with ATADIM (in windows 95 compatibility mode) - Extracted the ROM file from the ATR. - Renamed the file with .ROM extension - Loaded the ROM in Altirra...Victory ! Here's the result : The French Atari Logo Cartdridge (not yet referenced in Atarimania) is now saved for the first time ! LOGO - French Cartridge - dump - Marsupilami.ROM
  6. Thanks, it works with windows 7 but not with 8.1 (there is no "unblock" button in 8.1). I don't think the tape is protected, it's not an "autoload" tape, just a CLOAD one. One loaded, I can list the Basic program and it's a "real" (vs "encrypted") basic program. Once the program "Cloaded", i tried to use a 30min blank audio file (Audacity/fill with silence/then saved the wav file.) Then i loaded the blank virtual tape in Altirra, and i tried to csave the basic program. And indeed you can hear the "real" saving noise. If you go to File/Casette/Tape Control while "Csaving", you will also see the cursor moving forward, but there is no waveform inside: It remains empty. "Rewind" the virtual tape or Cold reset to basic, CLOAD and...It fails with an error 143. That's why I also tried to record the audio directly from Altirra (Record/Audio) but the record is not usable (And B.T.W recorded in both stereo L/R channels while it should not). FYI: Here's the .Wav file (345MB) : https://we.tl/QCcSBQtDpl
  7. Hi, Fisrt thing, thanks a lot for your excellent work on Altirra. I'm trying to backup some original tape with audio on the left channel and datas on the right. Once recorded with audacity and saved as .Wav files, i open the result in Altirra. But then i have this behavior : - If i use c: patch (cassette SIO) then CLOAD, everything is OK, the BASIC program is loaded and complete. - If i don't use c: patch (cassette SIO) then CLOAD, the sound is distorded and/or the loading fails with an error. Do you know why ? I've checked the signal level in audacity and it seems good. Second question : Is it possible to do a working CSAVE with Altirra ? I've tried but the virtual tape remains empty. Recording audio in Altirra after typing CSAVE does not work : if you reload the saved Wav file in Altirra. Maybe i'm doing something wrong. I can send you the wav file if needed. Thanks. PS : The help file seems...empty (Altirra.chm). I can open it, i have the index but no content at all (Vista and 8.1 both 64bits).
  8. Thanks a lot for the video Ndary. I will try this and post the resulting files here. The next question is : Is it possible to run the file you obtain with this method ? I know that converting the result to ATR needs some work on the binary file because of the R/W protection method so i hope someone will be able to do it with my dumps. I also found some threads here saying that it's doable with some emulators but this solution seems to easy to be true. Regards.
  9. @Ndary : Thanks for you offer but i live at 300km from Paris @Madi : Thanks i will try your tools.
  10. Hi @ll, i'd like to dump a few european cartridges which are still missing @Atarimania (MiKrosoft Basic (germany),Microsoft Basic II (Germany), Atari Logo (France -not even listed- and Germany). Do you have a "Dumping Cartridges for dummies" somewhere ? Digging the web leads to a lot of 404... If found this (https://sites.google.com/site/ataripal/cartdump) but it's not really clear. I'm looking for something simple, step by step guide since i'm not a programmer My tools : A PC, An Atari 800xl + peripherals, a SIO2PC and APE Pro. Of course i don't have any soldering knowledge either. Thanks a lot, i know we have a lot of guru here who will find my question...well...stupid. I assume Regards, Marsup.
  11. Unfortunatelly, In w8.1 you can "switch to" a process only on the child process. But ATR Tool has no child process so it's not possible. See here for details : http://www.nextofwindows.com/10-windows-8-1-task-manager-features-you-may-not-know Regards.
  12. I cant edit my first post anymore so : When i load a sound+data wav file : - Do you know why Altirra: 1 - with the wav file - gives me an "error 143 at line 0" if i cload it without SIO patch (to ear the bytes and the music) - load the program if i cload it with SIO patch (but i can't ear anything) 2 - with the .CAS file (produced with A8cas and without any errors) - gives me an "error 138" if i cload it without SIO patch. And produce strange "bip" noise while loading. - load the program if i cload it with SIO patch Thanks.
  13. Hi, i'm currently trying to transfert some unreleased original Atari tapes to my PC with A8cas and Audacity. My first attempt is to convert "Atari Energie - TXN 4121" - an atari game from Benelux (1983), wich is a translation of CX 4121 – Energy Czar (Atari US -1980)). On this tape, the left track has music while the right track has the datas as usual. Of course the audio levels on each tracks are not the same, so if i want good audio and good datas, i have to record each side twice 1 - First recording pass, i adjust the audio level to have the data at the best level. 2 - Second recording pass i record the tape again, adjusting the audio level to have a good music sound. i save each .wav file/track as "mono" then i combine left+right channels into a good quality stereo wav file. Then i load the .wav file into Altirra AND i convert the wav to .CAS but i loose the music. My questions are : - What is the best format to share the result with all the Atari fans out there ? A - .CAS + a MP3 of the music. Light but we loose the original synchronisation. B - Stereo Wav File (~50MB for each side of the tape). Heavier but it keeps the original format. C - Just the CAS, we don"t care about the music D - Just a CAS to ATR conversion and no music. C - Something else. Thanks for your answers. Regards, Marceau
  14. Hi, i've tried this release on my Windows 8.1 x64 : The programs seems to run because i can see it in the task manager. But that's all, ie program does not shows any window. I've tried to run it as administrator : same problem. There is nothing in the window's logs. On another PC : Windows 7 Pro x64: Everything is fine.
  15. HI Sanny, Yes, just dig here : http://atarinside.dyndns.org/atarinside/

  21. The 800 i don't know. I would say the 400 (PAL) landed in France (country of the SECAM) between Christmas 1982 and March 1983 ! Here you can see what is probably the first review in "Tilt" #4 (March 1983) : http://download.aban...1983-03-04).jpg According to the journalist there was only a few games available in France : http://download.aban...1983-03-04).jpg ...Compare the "Atari 400" software/games prices with other systems on the same page and you'll understand the poor succes of this computer here And for the Secam 600XL: January 1984 http://download.abandonware.org/magazines/Tilt/tilt_numero009/TILT%20-%20n%B009%20-%20janvier%20fevrier%201984%20-%20page020%20et%20page021.jpg
  22. Some of my PAL 800XL are CO14795-12 (here), a few are CO14795 (here), same thing for SECAM and NTCS. IMHO it's just the rev. or part number. More pictures here : http://atarinside.dyndns.org/
  23. Cavelord 1st edtion / 1984 from atari Germany (Atarimania Link) If you have any other games/utilties with the same silver boxes, let me know Picture credits : Atarimania.
