  1. Bomberman gb3 is the best of all the gameboy bomberman games. At first, I didn't like it as much as bomberman gb2, but after playing for a bit it clearly won me over.
  2. Most of the games will run on an msx1, but a lot of the more well respected games are msx2 only. I'd probably recommend a msx2 for most people, as it lets you play more games, is more likely to have a disk drive, and supports 80 column mode which is good if you want to program on it.
  3. Maybe it's just because I was a huge Gilligan's Island fan, but I remember absolutely loving the Gilligan NES game in my younger days. I still think it's an OK game.
  4. The OG gameboy library covers a huge spectrum from ports of old arcade games to demakes of 16-bit games with everything inbetween. The best part for me is discovering all of the obscure gems I never heard about before and seeing so many games with 'experimental' gameplay and unique design approaches to compensate for the weaker hardware.
  5. Thanks, Fixed. I'm well versed in MS basic, especially for the MSX, but editing on the TI-99 is quite a challenge for me.
  6. Here's a simple game. Let me know if it doesn't work, as I reformatted it in this post and might have possibly made a mistake renumbering and changing values. Press any key to shoot at the @ for points.
  7. I've been peeking in every once in a while over the last decade to see if any progress has happened with this game. I hope you continue with development at some point, but I do understand how life happens and interests shift over time.
  8. Thanks, but I was thinking more of the classical "demo" that includes music, visual effects and a text scroller. Maybe I'll just have to try and make one in BASIC myself.
  9. I play around in BASIC a lot. I enjoy the challenge of making fast / small / efficient code with it. So I was wondering, is or was there ever a demoscene for BASIC? Or is that more of an ASM only type if thing?
  10. Hey, I just re-read through this entire topic and noticed that I had never suggested two amazing hidden gems on the gameboy: Momotaro Dengeki and Momotaro Dengeki 2 Also if you haven't played it yet, you need to give Cavenoire a try.
  11. I really like programming in MSX BASIC... But only in 80 columns, which means you'd have to use an MSX2 which is rather pricey.
  12. SnapJack. I love this game, but no home ports. Also, Super Pac-Man has come up in this thread multiple times, but no one ever mentioned the Gameboy Color version included in Ms. Pac-Man Special Edition. Just FYI.
  13. Am I watching the beginnings of a new "knight rider 2600" in this thread?
  14. I wouldn't say that retro games are "better" than new stuff... But they are quite different. Mostly, I appreciate the pick up and play simplicity and how the earlier games tended to be more experimental in nature.
