For me it's the "pew pew" sound when firing.? Also, the challenge from the lack of distance of the shots. Navigating the tight areas where the ground and ceiling almost meet while being swarmed by enemies from behind that also drop bombs as they move up and down in a predictable pattern but still doesn't help bc the gunners on the ceilings and floor not only launch random attacks but launch themselves when you get to them. Gets tough fast and I have to imagine peeps playing and beating this decades ago yet here I am, can't get past stage 1?

My highest Darius+ score? I was fighting the stage 1 boss, Fatty McGlutton? Don't know if I was even taking hit points off him but hung with him for about 3 minutes. And when I say 'hung with him' I mean 'got my ass kicked by him' Great game!

I was wondering the same. Seems B or C just resets to the Ocean splash screen while A does nothing.

Yes, the original, freely downloadable version in this thread: The 2017 full release is a bit different. Both are great though. I have the original on cart as well

Got the 3rd slot at 100%! Did this run in an hour and 51 minutes. First to beat it, first to beat it twice, first to beat it 3x on the cart and new world record speed run for one hundred percent

I got close! Have all the bypassable stuff mapped out. Only one missile you can't avoid but I can beat all the bosses, final one included, with the pea shooter so I'll be working on that next

Just murdered this on Game 2 save slot. Did this mostly as a speed run. Lost track of my actual time bc had to pause briefly. Tried to leave a few of the goals out that are required for 100% but decided having all three slots maxed would be more fun. Going for the last slot soon..

Got v1.4 a few hours ago and just beat it 100%. It worked perfectly. Used this (6th) playthrough to make an efficient guide with all the locations of upgrades, how to beat the bosses easily and info on health/ammo farms. I should've recorded it. Did some pro stuff this time around. Excellent game and hoping there's a sequel. Wouldn't mind a main weapon upgrade though. Flame thrower would be cool but a shotgun, even better..? That's right Baby, first one on the planet to beat the 'final' version!

Game drive with patched versions of both Doom 2 hacks.. to run on a game drive, complete with correct map names and an ending instead of crashing. Also hacked in a slightly more powerful shotgun to compromise with the power of the double barrel one since it's not available. Awesome.
