Usually it would be a regulator chip blown when the (correct) PSU is unregulated, although is there a regulator in the Jag? I really can't remember, been ages since I looked at the schematics! Don't use Nintendo PSUs by the way, they give out AC instead of DC!

I was having a discussion with some friends on Japanese Jaguars. Some believed the system was never released over there, others proved that Toys 'r' Us were to stock it in all stores there. Some said they have seen Jaguars there, but assumed them to be imports. What is the real answer? Were systems exported from the US to Japan, or did they have their own systems? What did the boxes look like?

That's what you get with RF and modern TVs. Some don't like playing old consoles on at all - best off in such situations to keep an old portable! The atari CAN'T output hi res, so you're not getting any advantage out of this TV.

DON'T just reheat the solder. This is lazy and sloppy, and ends up in dry joints. Always clean off the pad where possible with a desolder pump or desolder braid, then using good soldering practice resolder the component. Go for a good 60/40 fluxed solder, try to get 22swg if you can as its thinner and easier to use.

First thing to do would be check the solder joints of the connector to the board. Redo them just in case. Check there's good continuity through the connector - do it by opening the system and joystick if necessary. Did the 7805s look like they were replacements? Perhaps not all models followed your diagram EXACTLY.

You'll need to make an adaptor to get it into the pc, and write some drivers. I'd say its not worth the hassle, unless you're technically minded

PLEASE throw away any cardboard boxes you are using NOW! EVEN those magazine ones you get from stationers. Cardboard has acid which attacks the inks and the paper itself, causing yellowing and other problems. Get down your local comic store and get some archival safe bags, and acid-free backing boards if you don't want spine roll. You can get an acid tester pen from the same store, if its a decent one.

First, u using an official PSU? If not u could be damaging the machine! Replacement switches are easy to come by - myatari for one should stock the real deal, or get a replacement from your fave electronics store. IF its the switch.

ok, you'll learn I usually recommend you don't use this stuff. DON'T use keyboard cleaner. Use potentiometer cleaner. Real keyboard cleaner is foaming, contains ammonia. That's no good. Contact cleaner is no good. Pots need to be lubricated, pot cleaner does this. Is the console PAL? Is it Australian PAL or UK PAL? There's a difference! The TVs do multi-standard IN RGB, maybe composite. Virtually none do multi-standard WITH colour through RF. The system MUST be OZ PAL!!!

Don't mean to sound pessimistic, but there are lots of things to consider. Firstly, size. A 7800 and 5400 in one is bulky. Then there's component availability - several chips were custom chips. Sources aren't infinite. This involves having some incompatible hardware, so you may as well emulate. But the biggy - copyright. Don't forget Atari copyrights DO still exist, and I dunno how the holder would feel about people making things like this. Royalty payments would make the project expensive. Why is the paddle controller a problem? Its just a pot FFS! If you're making a system, make a pad as well. Don't go using PSX pads, the ports will cost you a fortune! Not to mention being sued by Sony

That headphone bit would be where the PSU goes - a pretty important part of the system! 9V DC 500mA REGULATED try eBay or myatari for genuine ones, or radio shack/mcmelectronics etc for a replacement.
