Am I the only one offended by the title of this forum?
Why would you feel it neccessary to use the Lord's name in vain and violate a commandment that is followed and revered by millions of good people (many on these forums I would hope).
Surely there are many ways to express your frustration with a video game without taking the Lords name in vain.
I would ask that we all try and be more sensitive with our language. The fact that I like to play video games is one way that I connect with my children (and others) and gives us something in common. I try to set a good example when around children. I am sure many children and teens use these sites - let's set a good example for them as well.
Thanks

Best Electronics carries the european style CX78 control 'pad' for the 7800. It was only sold in Europe with those 7800 systems. It is spookily like the NES control pad, works great, and is bulletproof. Get a pair from them and put your original pads on the display shelf for looks. No one knows why they sold the crappy joysticks in the US and these great control pads in Europe. But Atari was doing a lot of stupid things back then...

You nailed it!
It is the subtle differences and being able to master them all that is the most fun.
I don't like arcade asteroids that much, but I can play on my 2600 all day long.
Game console Battlezone ain't so hot, but it is dynamite on my MAME standup arcade machine.
Nothing beats having the best of both worlds.
When I was a skinny little kid spending all my quarters in the arcade back in the early 80's and saving up my allowance for the next game cartridge, what I have today was not even a dream.
Life is great and even more so with video games!

In it for the chicks?!?!
That's great. My wife loves me dearly, but even she rolls her eyes and walks away when I start playing video games.
I just love old stuff that does stuff. Old radios, old cameras, old crank-up record players, etc.
I remodeled my basement with the jukebox, the pinball machine, the pool table etc, - but it is our collection of old video games that the kids go nuts over.
Nothing like grabbing a joystick, siting down to a game of Space Invaders on the old 2600 to bring back your youth.
So what if it is on a big screen LCD television

I pumped way too many quarters into Galaga and Tempest. Amlost all of my meager $3.25 an hour paycheck from Hardees.
Unfortunately - These are also the hardest to find and the most $$$ arcade games now.
I am leaning toward getting one of the muli-game systems. A guy near Chicago sells on with 4600 games (you name it, it is in there). I can get a multi-game for just a little more than a Galaga or Tempest.
It may not be the real thing - but I will be able to play whatever I want.
Anyone have one of these?

Don't get me wrong - I don't blame the kids. I love kids! I am still one myself.
I am 45 years old and I got a 2600 for Christmas. I work as an engineer and I go to a used video game store at lunch to buy games. And no, I don't live in my Mom's basement and yes, I am married to a real live woman (who puts up with me most of the time).
I blame CEC for having the wrong kinds of games, not having enough good games to play and the parents for not teaching their kids to share the games with OTHER KIDS.
And I don't type swear words in my posts. Kids read these posts, too. :!:

WE don't do CEC anymore - it has degraded into a kiddie style Las Vagas where kids kill themselves to get those stupid tickets. What kills me is all the adults fighting over the machines to get the tickes as well - Grow up!
I can understand the frustration of standing next to one of the few fun video games that they DO have and enduring some brat with a cup full of tokens that will not get off of it. After all, he is the center of the universe and can do anything he wants, just ask his endulging pea-brained barely past adolescense mommy who is on the other side of the room trying to win those stupid tickets.
Now knowing that they wontonly destroy the video games even gives me more reason to avoid them now.
Boycot CEC!

Hello there. I am new to this forum (and to collecting video systems).
We just refinshed our basement and my son and I plan are building a video game 'museum' next to a big screen TV where we and our guests can select a game console and just start playing. My 15 yr old son even bought me an Atari 2600 for Christmas - it was really neat playing space Invaders and Kaboom with my son 30 yrs after getting my very first one! He has a Wii with all the stuff and he goes into the living room and plays the 2600!
So far we have an Odyssey 300, Atari 2600 four switch, NES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii.
I think an original Atari/Sears Pong game would look great in between the Odyssey and the 2600, so I am thining of adding one to the collection next. I am looking for the two player pong with the attached knobs. I am seeing them on ebay, but the prices look kind of high. Is Ebay a fair place to get one, or would anyone have any other sources they could steer me toward?
Ebay is great, but the only problem is that if there are even a couple of people out there that want the same thing you do, the prices climb. It is sooo much easier finding something in a garage sale or goodwill (I got my Odyssey game for $2 at an antique store and I can find 2600 carts for 25 cents each at garage sales).
Anyway - Any help or feedbsack would be appreciated.

I post a repectful suggestion that forum members consider their language and it is met with instant hostility.
There is no moral equivalence between taking the Lord's name in vain and a tonge-in-cheek username.
I have seen several posts on other threads that use vulgar language of other sorts.
I would be willing to change my username if others would be willing to stop using vulgar and obscene language.
