  1. Normally I woudln't even ask, but I figured with collectors here, I might be in luck. I'm looking for the katana DC dev system. Yay for taxes being in your favor, and I'd like to see this finally on my shelf.
  2. I've seen dev systems before on ebay, like the dreamcast tower several times. I don't think he should have a problem selling these there. I'm not happy with the decision either, but I guess we all get an equal chance of getting the systems. He probably had no idea what the charge and wants top dollar, hence the auction... or he just posted it here to get us all interested so he'd have guaranteed bidders. Meh.
  3. Sigh, wonderful >_>. Figured as much. Thanks for the response at least. I *wish* Sony took more charge with putting psone titles on there. Live has xbox titles going. Sony has it easy as they don't even put ps2 games on there to dload. PS titles should be a walk in the park. That is one thing I think Nintendo has done a very good job with, and it's paid off for them.
  4. Ok, fun times.... As most of you know, I have a Japanese white 40 gig PS3. I bought it not only to play ps3 games, but to also play my psone games, which I love. I decided to put a copy of Need for Speed II in, one of my favorite games... and it says "This disc cannot be started due to region restrictions"... crud. I seriously feel a bit jipped here.. what can I do to make this system play it? I've already sold my ps2 and psone in anticipation of getting the PS3, so please don't say the typical "play it on a playstation" I guess when I heard "region free", while I knew it didn't apply to ps2 games on systems that play those games, I never thought about the psone situation. Anything I can do here? :-/
  5. Standard. I don't really need the movie disk or the figure, ya know?
  6. Being a Wii owner myself, I'm not at all offended. Just because there are "core" gamers playing the Wii doesn't mean that, for the most part, the Wii isn't casually oriented. To be honest, even Nintendo markets the thing to first timers (watch their commercials.. all family and older people and kids). So if anything Sega's unnamed employee is echoing what Nintendo proudly boasts on a monthly basis. I'm sure there are lots of kids and first timers playing PS3 and 360s too, but it doesn't mean the systems are made with them in mind. You can have an audience on the Wii that is core, but numbers don't lie... most of the core market is NOT on the Nintendo system, and neither are the games. I love Nintendo, I've loved them from the start and they will always be special to me, but there's a major something missing from Nintendo this gen, and others have felt it too. While this is not the first generation I've had more than just a Nintendo system while those systems are new, it's definitely the first generation I felt like I *needed* more than one. Your personal opinion is valid, but if Nintendo's console isn't casually oriented, then the Wii has a serious identity crisis and Sega better stop making games like Tap Tap (or w/e it's called) that gear towards that market.
  7. oh I ranted good and long about ssf2thdr here. and I haven't really played it since. it was good for a morning worth of annoyance... In short every fighting game you've played since 1995 or so was worlds better than ssf2thdr. careful on the ps2-ps3 converters--some have limits about simultaneous presses. I actually already have one of those, though I've never used mine to see if it has the problems. Believe it or not, I don't have a good ps1/ps2 arcade stick either. I have bad arcade sticks for them though, and maybe that'll be good enough (prior to this gen, I haven't been a heavy sony gamer) There's a REALLY nice Hori PS3 stick out there. It's black with light up blue leds. I know sticks are expensive, but like I said, they made cheaper pads at least . You can get a "saturn" type fighting pad for the PS2 I'm sure. Thanks for the info about the converters.. I'll do my homework before I buy one. If you know of any brand of one that's good lemme know.
  8. Hydro thunder 2 - under a different name -- has recently been revealed, from the original HT development team. Haven't you seen it yet? For me, the last time I was truly excited was probably on 9-9-99. I've picked up other systems since the Dreamcast, but never had quite the tingle as then. I remember being very excited at getting all my Atari and Sega systems over the years. Yea, I hated the PS2 because of what it did to the Dreamcast. Anywho, no I haven't seen "hydro thunder 2" under a different name. What would the name be? And I'm assuming the original team doesn't work for Midway anymore. What system is it on? Link?
  9. Ahh Dreamcast.. I've said it before and I'll say it again: If Midway wants to get out of bankruptcy, make Hydro Thunder 2. Bam.. instant money.
  10. Just curious, what was bad about SSF2THDR. Never got to play it. Also, you don't need to spend 100 bucks to play street fighter. The ps3 controller should suffice. And if not, I know there are PS2 to PS3 adaptors out there. I'll be getting one so I can use my Street Fighter RYU controller from my PS2 to play this game. (nice pad btw ).
  11. oddly I have more problems with grid's 'brownish' style than how it plays. though I've only raced the cars in the demo, more powerful ones may be more of a handful than what I saw. (great demo, btw--online enabled, everybody at similar skill level) GRiD's based on the engine used for Dirt, which is hands down the worst rally game *EVER*. no power sliding--what the heck kind of rally game cuts that out? Both arcade and sim rally games have it, but dirt's so 'inbetween' them that it just won't allow sliding. That's in addition to the 'ultra brown' effects in the game. I wish codemasters would just go back to the graphical style they used in Toca 3. Yea really, I totally agree with you on the Toca style. I'd like to know why it seems every racing game needs to specialize at only one time of day and one type of weather condition. Need for Speed (not when it was good.. once Underground and Carbon started "blessing" our presence) had the whole night time and wet streets... everywhere.. because that is how driving ALWAYS is... And then I have no idea what is with GRiD.. it's like sunset or dawn, yet it still seems like mid afternoon. Maybe it's the worlds smoggiest city Either way, it's like the tightest control as it doesn't really allow sliding of any sort, yet at the same time, if you try to steer like you would in any other racer, you spin in circles out of control. And god forbid you hit an inch of grass even for a second.. steering basically does the opposite of what you want to do. I can't wait to get rid of this monstrosity... and that says a lot concidering racing games are my favorite genre.
  12. I just started playing GRiD last night. UGHHH what a horribly put together game. It seriously has some identity problems! It doesn't know if it wants to be a sim, or an arcade racer.. If you drive like you do in Gran Tourismo, you're too slow. If you drive like an arcade racer you spin out uncontrolably and crash all the time. In fact, it's like the developers knew it was hard to figure out how to drive well in this game and tacked on the replay system at the last minute. Horrid. Racing the 3rd or 4th race in the campaign where you're in the orange lambergini is like pulling teeth. I'll be trading this game in when I get Street Fighter 4. Ughhh!.. maddening....
  13. Honestly, the last time I truly got that feeling you're describing was when I got my N64. I got the jungle green DK 64 one with a copy of my favorite game... FZero X. It was the system I used my own money on to buy, and I just remember exactly how I felt when I brought that home. Newer systems still were special, the Wii was very special (as it seemed like such a different machine) but I think when you get older part of that magic is kinda lost when you get a new system. Yes, it's great.. I'm excited about it, but it's no longer like it used to be. I think the only other time I got that excited about a system was when I was younger and really wanted a Saturn. I never got the system, and unfortunately had to wait till years later when I was older to get it once the system was well dead, but that system will always have a special place in my heart because it was the only system I can recall that I got THAT excited about.
  14. CURSE OF THE CUBE! I keep getting PMs saying people want this thing, then no one replies... is this a game O_o loool. Sigh, anywho, still available. Would rather not put it on evilbay. Thanks guys.
  15. Now THAT'S gotta be a good bar story
  16. Been playing Warhawk, Little Big Planet, and Gran Tourismo 5. I have so many others to dive into, but I just love these games so much, I want to finish them/have my fill with them before I move on.
  17. Oh common though.. it's bloody street fighter! You don't get the main sequels to come along but almost every decade haha .
  18. One week! :D Who else is getting this?
  19. Good lord, how did you do that song!? My problem is, I don't know the best way to strum the plastic guitar. It works well pushing it down and if i need to back and forth.. but when it gets harder, i swear i get the squeak all the time. I just cant time it well i guess, and my hand gets tired really fast in the harder difficulties. Also, doing all 5 notes is REALLY hard for me. That looks impossible.. I tip my hat off to you sir!
  20. wait wait wait.. you're saying the boxes I have from my childhood (sold the carts a long time ago) with manuals are actually worth something if i get a good cart to go with it? sweet!
  21. The first Rogue Squadron annoyed me when it came to escort missions. That is, until a few years later when I got the N64 version, which made it infinitely easier to play the game .
  22. "You ever going to tell anyone what the ****ing G stands for" "No" LOL. I might pick this up. The only thing I'm worried about is that I'll then have 3 lightgun shooters for the Wii.
  23. I'd love a seperate iPhone/iTouch forum. I never thought I'd say this when I bought the iPhone, but it really is a competent gaming machine. I have dloaded countless games, and since it's always on my person (unlike my PSP or something) as it's my phone, it's always being played. Heck, it gets more playtime than my consoles and I've never been a huge handheld guy at all.
