  1. Btw, I have one of those street fighter ps2 pads that look almost identical to these except it had a holographic image on it. If I got one of those adapters for my ps3, I should be able to use my Ryu PS2 controller instead, right?

I used to use that thing every once in a while when I played Street Fighter 3 on my Dreamcast since I had a controller adapter for it :D

  2. Yea, now that I've had all 3 "next gen" systems, it is a bit hard catching up with all the software. The good news,.. well.. in a way, is that the Wii and PSP are kinda on a dry spell atm. But yea, I used to buy the remaining systems I didn't have yet when they were about 90 bucks used. This is the first time I've had all the systems from a generation while the hardware was hot. Lots of games to choose from, for sure!

  3. They're still around.. at least there's one where I live. However, since they swap with the Gamestop employees in the same mall for different shifts it's not like it used to be.

Still good times. I got my Dreamcast from them and my first games: Daytona USA (the remake), Space Channel 5 (which I could never find a properly working disk after getting 5 different ones.. I just gave up after a while), Sonic Adventure, and Hydro Thunder  .

  4.

So is the joystick an extension of the 360 joystick, or the original Atari one somehow wired into the 360's controller board? Pretty interesting none the less, though I think he could have made it easier on himself to convert the Atari joystick with the numeric buttons on the front. At least he would have been able to add the bumper buttons that way :).

  5. Btw, quick question.. I have an opportunity to get the Time Crisis 4 game with the gun. Is that any good or should I pass it up? I like the old shooters like Virtua Cop and such, but admittedly they don't seem to have a lot of replay value. It's also really hard to see how good the graphics are on the back of the box.

Skip it. It's pretty bad. I think I did a review of it somewhere on the forum.

Thanks bud, that's a shame. They really should come out with a new Virtua Cop. Heck.. a disk with HD conversions of all the old 3D Sega games would be amazing. I'd love to have 16 player online Daytona USA :D.

  6. After being wowed by Bionic Commando Rearmed and it's amazing translation into 3D while keeping the original game play, look and feel of the original, it got me thinking.. which classic games would you like redone in this style? IE: Same game and view point, but refreshed graphics

Some games I can think of that would be great:

    Sonic (duh)

    Castlevania Symphony of the Night

    Metroid

    Contra

    Metal Slug

    Knights of the Round

I'd also like to see some redos in the same vein as the Pacman on XBLA. That was really well done as well even if it's not a side scroller ;).

  7. Lastly, judging from sales numbers, I wouldn't call LBP a flop my any stretch of the imagination. It's sold out locally around here in many stores, and sales, while lower than expected maybe, are still nothing to laugh about. Certainly not in the low double digits like poor Zack and Wiki. I mean, LBP just reached 200,000 units sold in Europe alone. That's nothing to laugh about.

LBP was Sonys big game this Christmas, so anything less than 2 million copies is probably considered a flop.

Even Zack & Wiki, a small niche title, sold over 500.000 copies on the Wii by now.

Hmm wow ok. Besides the exercise equipment and virtual instruments, I guess I've been following a bit too much of Nintendo up till now. A million in sales is like a freakin celebration in software usually :) haha.

  8. I actually really enjoyed Factor 5's games in their prime. However, Rogue Squadron 3 was a major disappointment for me and im sure many others. Then Factor 5 kinda took a long vacation and made a flop. With no other games in development, there was no more money to bank on. But like said above, I'd hardly blame the PS3 for this. If they bothered making more than one game every 3 years and made good ones, they might still be around.

I will forever be thankful to Free Radical for the battlefront series, but even the most fanboyish of Sony fanboys would tell you Haze was an embarrassment.

Btw, if you want some examples of SUCESSFUL companies developing on the PS3 that aren't necessarily huge powerhouses, I'm sure you won't have to look very hard. If I were a dev company that was smaller, I'd create one HD game and maybe 2-4 Wii/DS/PSP games. That way if the HD game was successful, big money... if not, the other small low budget titles would back me up for future projects. If companies like Factor 5 weren't so damn stingy with making Rogue Squadron games, they could have easily ported the N64 title to the VC, and done a "made for wii" port of the other two games for the Wii and made millions of dollars. Not that hard...

  9. So what did I do? I bought a new copy of Motosport PR to avoid this. Instead when I got the game, instead of being brand new, it had a sticker on there which wouldnt have been an issue if it wasnt for the fact the clerk ripped off the sticker quickly, leaving the white paper residue on there. He tried to get then pick it off with his finger nail, leaving a big dip in the case where the clip hole is.

I'm not quite following you. What exactly happened here?

    Chris

If you press on the front over, there's two holes in the case on the top right and bottom right where the clips are that clip the manual against the inside of the case. Since there's no plastic there in those spots, if you press hard here you can warp and often rip the paper cover and the plastic that holds in the cover of the case. By him scratching off the sticker residue with his nail, he left a HUGE dip where that spot is. The game looks like trash and looks used because of it. When I confronted them about it, he scoffed saying that it was new, I already paid for it, and that since I didn't ask them (he never asked) to have the clear sticker on it saying it was still new (even though i was in the store and hadn't opened it.. i was right in front of him), he wouldn't let me return it for a different copy. Next time let them prep the game before you swipe your card. I will NEVER go back there period. Was a horrible experience.

  10. That is horrid. I had problems with the "free gear" they promise you when you preorder as well. I think almost everyone will agree that the free gun in CoD WaW was a joke.

Game trade is horrid there. I got 450 bucks in trade at a mom and pop place for my ps2 slim and games, while gamestop was offering only 25 for the system, 5 cents.. you heard me.. 5 cents for the stand that cost 20 new, and 5 bucks or less for games like Disguea.

I used to love the store for one main reason though.. and that was to buy used games. Like them or not, their selection is usually nicer than that of a small mom and pop place, and the condition of their games is usually higher...until now. I went in there yesterday, and much to my surprise, every game now had the bind price sticker ON THE DANG COVER ITSELF and not on the clear plastic part of the case.

That's right. That means that if you are a collector like I am, any game you get there is practically junk to you since getting those annoying yellow stickers is impossible to get off of a piece of paper. It's horrible. I complained to the manager in the store and he basically said "it's our policy. Too bad".. he honeslty coudln't have been any less concerned about the matter.

  11. Eye of Judgment looked pretty interesting actually, yea. I liked how the playstation eye followed where the cards were. However, I'm not a big card game fan.. would I still like it?

I've always thought card games were for dorks and wouldn't go near them--but I like Eye of Judgment. Made myself a corkboard setup for it and I'm waiting for my usb light from dealextreme (being a projector user, lighting can be an issue for me, especially with the set 2 and 3 cards)

check walmart, mine had the whole starter setup for $30--which is quite a bit less than the camera alone.

Wow ok. I've seen the kit used at Gamestop, but it didn't come with the camera.. making the used price not really make much sense at all. I'll check out Walmart.

  12. You need Uncharted, Folklore and Eye of Judgement.

    All exclusives and all good!

Uncharted looked interesting.. kinda like Indiana Jones or something. I can't seem to find it locally though, and I was considering waiting as the new sequel was coming out soon, right? What is folklore? I've never heard of it. Eye of Judgment looked pretty interesting actually, yea. I liked how the playstation eye followed where the cards were. However, I'm not a big card game fan.. would I still like it?

  13. New here, I just got a new PS3 a couple days ago and thought I'd check around here to see what games are good and keep up with news and such. It's the white 40 gig PS3 and it's a great machine.

It's kinda funny that now my wii, 360, ps3, psp, and ds lite are all white, and all sit besides each other . I purchased the Wii first, and while I have over 30 games for it now.. to say the games have stopped being produced on it is kinda an understatement. I don't think I've purchased anything since Mario Kart unfortunately. The 360 was pretty good and I loved the controller, but there are so many PS3 exclusives that are already out and that are coming out in 09 that I had to get one. Little Big Planet and finding a new white PS3 online basically finally convinced me to make the plunge and getting 450 clams for my ps2 and games didn't hurt either. Besides, I think it's a great idea to get all the systems that are out there any way so you don't miss out on all the software available. Also considering I have a great HDTV, it was pretty exciting to finally purchase my first Blu-Ray movie. I've gotten accustomed to the unscaled DVD playing on the 360 (which looks surprisingly crisp), but this is definately an improvement.

Currently I have the following games.. if you guys have any suggestions as to other ones, please let me know! Obviously I haven't gotten to play these all just yet.. but that's what weekends and nights are for, right?

Nice meet you guys in advance:

    Little Big Planet

Lair (yea yea.. but I'm a huge Rogue Squadron fan)

    Heavenly Sword

    GT 5 Prologue

    Motorsport Pacific Drift

    Warhawk

    Ratchet and Clank

    Dynasty Warriors Gundam

    SOCOM Confrontation

    F1 Championship Edition

    Grid
