  1. No, its stictly Japanese. Owned it. Was impossible to play...
  2. Get a DC with a 2600 emulator burned disc. Best of both worlds haha.
  3. I'm confused...3DO games were all long boxes. They just had standard jewel cases sometimes inside them.
  4. As someone who's owned both, I honestly can't understand why anyone prefers the PS4. Now, I can't comment on Battlefield (though from what I hear that whole release was botched from the beginning...), but hardware wise I think the Xbox One outshines my PS4, and is played all the time in comparison. To base performance of the two on a poorly constructed third party title sounds like poor judgement. First, the controller is honestly just.. better. From the joysticks, to the triggers, to the general shape/feel. On top of that, the rubber finish on the Xbox One controller doesn't lose it's texture. I've owned 3 PS4 Dualshocks and each one lost it's "bumpy" texture in about a week. One creaks where the tip of the handle/stick is, and two had to be sent back due to sticking R1 triggers. In fact, my system itself was sent back as it's disc drive made a horribly loud noise when booting a disc based game. While I understand launch hardware isn't perfect, and even the launch X1 had it's issues, from my personal experience Sony's hardware just doesn't hold up right now. And considering the controller is the only thing I actually touch while playing, to have a controller that feels slick, without texture, just feels... gross. I also felt the UI is MUCH nicer on the Xbox than the PS4. The PS4's felt dated. I will say, I do like the share button MUCH better than yelling at my Xbox to "record that". I do wish the Xbox One had that button feature. Although, I do like how Xbox only records a short segment, where as PS4 records well more footage than I need, which fills the hdd. Not critiquing too much. At the end of the day, whichever you pick, you'll be happy. And while I like the voice controls, you don't really need the Kinect. With both being the same price right now, I'd say the Xbox One is honestly the best choice of the two. But again, that's for my tastes and my opinion. I like the exclusives that Microsoft has been showing this time around more than what's on Sony, so... to each their own. That said, I've been a Sony and Nintendo gamer for as long as the two have been making systems, with me only taking a "break" from each during the Wii era and the PS2 era, as I didn't much like either system at the time (I thought the GameCube rocked, and I hated Sony for a bit for killing off the DC with an over-hyped, weak system). So I hope that's taken into account. I've owned original and 360 Xboxes, but I never really liked them... still don't. In fact, I've sold them. For me to say I MUCH prefer an xbox product over a sony one... well, there's got to be good reason behind that for me to feel that way. Call me crazy. To each their own.
  5. There's something about the 3DO that you just won't understand till you play it. Gameplay footage on Youtube.... just doesn't cut it for some reason. It's a GREAT sounding system, first off. In fact, most of the games feel more amazing than they are purely because of the astounding sound coming out of this machine. I just love it, and I can't think of any console that "sounds" like this. Hard to describe... Also, there's a certain fluidity when it comes to many games. Particularly Star Fighter. If you've ever played the Saturn version, it's honestly a heap of crap compared to the 3DO one. Games on the 3DO in general just feel smooth. NFS is also like that, for me. I donno, I used to be such a huge fan of the Saturn. I played all the 3DO "ports", and figured the 3DO was just a piece of junk as their ports never felt quality to me. But the originals (speaking of Star Fighter here) feel like a generation ahead. And considering it's on older hardware, that really makes me scratch my head. I'll be honest, I bought the system just because it was an interest. It was there for sale, I had nothing else to buy, and I saw a couple games I wanted like Road Rash, and figured... what the hell. A slight "interest" has turned into near obsession. I'm not saying the system is the best of all time. The game library is full of duds. But it's also full of great games that I'm embarrassed to say I've missed till my current age of 29. If you're smart, and don't buy a lot of the crap on the system, the console will reward you with a metric ton of gameplay. Even games like Gex just feel better. I donno, hard to explain. When I play the 3DO, I feel like I'm playing an expensive console that just is leagues better in several ways to it's contemporaries of the same generation. It's a system that will surprise you, and for me, that's more than I ever expected from this little grey box. You can find deals on eBay if you're patient. Like I recently posted, I just got a Japanese 3DO for 42 bucks plus 5 shipping. That's just a no brainer, right there. Avoid giving in to buy it nows if you can, unless the price is uber cheap. Oh, and there ARE FMV games that are good on the system. Something I can't honestly say about any other home console. I've taken some risks on games and been pleasantly surprised. If I were to recommend a starting point, I'd recommend Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It was my first game I put into the 3DO, and it quickly changed my opinion of the system almost immediately. Samurai Shodown is also nearly as impressive. Enjoy, and let us know if/when you get one!
  6. Games are a fair price..... loose. Cherish those boxed games. They just go up and up with time. Fantastic portable. I'd still own one today, honestly, if someone could mod one for me to have a backlight. Just can't play on those old non-backlit screens anymore. Best joystick/dpad of all time.
  7. aaaand I just got a Japanese 3DO FZ-10 for 42 bucks!
  8. Been a while, but still absolutely loving my 3DO! Hopefully others will find this thread and share, but I've been getting back into the system once again with some new games I picked up fairly recently. I got Star Control 2, Space Hulk, and the Need for Speed for pretty cheap, locally. Can't say enough about Need for Speed. Makes the Saturn version look/play like a piece of junk. It's funny, I always hated the Saturn and PS1 game, but I love this version probably more than NFS 2SE on the PC, which is my favorite NFS game. It doesn't play like 2, but that's a good thing. It actually feels like a real racing sim (well, compared to 2 and the Sat/PS port of 1). Star Control 2 is interesting. I've only played a little bit, but I think I'll like it. The gameplay is fun, and the presentation so far is top notch.
  9. I'm not arguing... :/ I hope it does turn out well. But I've had too many non-name brand accessories like this in the past that end up jacking up the system, psychically, for me to trust it out of the gate. I'll wait for reviews. But personally, I'm pretty happy with the circle pad until then.
  10. Yeah I have a Pikachu edition. Wouldn't give it up for the world Still , this is a close second for me.
  11. These aren't mine, so I can't speak for the quality of the seller (though he has good feedback). I've been looking for a way (as you saw from a previous thread) to be able to see what N64 games I have from the top, as Nintendo (and every company from that time period) thought NOT having a top label was a genius idea... I ended up stumbling across an Etsy page where this guy made a complete US collection of top labels. I found his eBay page, where he sells them as well, and figured it might be something to share to my fellow AAers who are in the same spot as me. He claims they won't harm the carts by leaving residue behind, which is good. I hope that's true, as I HATE sticker residue. But this might be a good solution for you guys. I personally have a lot of import carts, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do about those ones. He only seems to sell the US ones, so I'm not terribly sure what to do atm. But either way, enjoy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-N64-Cartridge-Spine-Top-End-Labels-ALL-U-S-GAMES-/291218250551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43cdf5db37
  12. CeramicSaturn (daytonausa) Hope to see you guys on miiverse.
  13. 3DS isn't heavy enough for this thing not to flop around. Plus, it's just a damn dpad topper. And then there's the matter of portability. Which this basically makes ... useless. Not to mention, devices like this usually scratch up systems. No way I'd put this on my Pikachu XL.
  14. Yeah, it's going to go quick, I'll tell ya. I see the mods are asleep though... any chance of a transfer of this to Modern?
  15. I have a feeling that while the adapter might be made for a while, those controllers will become highly sought after. Just preirdered it. They don't charge till release day so if the situation changes I can always cancel just prior.
  16. And I'm in the classic gaming area. God I hate phones... Can someone move this please?
  17. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/08/beautiful_limited_edition_super_smash_bros_3ds_xl_console_bundle_revealed Only for Europe so far, but something tells me we'll see it here too. For 209, that's not bad, and its available for preorder right now. Comes with the game preloaded. Can't say I'd part with my pikachu 3DS for it, but its certainly one of the better looking limited editions we've seen of late.
  18. I feel the Xbox one has enough unique games to justify the purchase. I'm not sure I could wait till fall of next year to play what it has to offer. That and a next gen platform is a good idea if you're excited for Destiny. With an expected ten year lifespan, do you honestly think you'll be playing on a ps3 or 360 then? But yeah, in the interem, the Wii u offers quite a bit this year. I don't feel its quite where the n64 or even the GameCube was at in terms of content, but I'm very happy to own the system none the less. Regardless if their idiotic moves, having a Nintendo system from the current gen is basically a necessity.
  19. The Xbox One is losing in terms of overall sales to the Wii U. To be fair on the Xbox One, it's not been out NEARLY as long as the Wii U, and its sales have been picking up quite a bit as of late. I don't expect the Wii U to be in 2nd place for long. Don't get me wrong, I love my Wii U, and I"m VERY excited about this years offerings, but if you guys think a system can do anything but last place without third party support, then I don't know what else to say. Personally? I'm happy this happened to Nintendo, just so they learn their lesson. I love them, they're my favorite of the three. But this whole "wii" route, catering to the casuals crap, with underpowered hardware that ensures ports of PS4 and XB1 games rarely come over to Nintendo, while their great non-mario IPs sit and rot in never-never land, is unforgivable. It's nice to see them waking up a bit with the announcement of Starfox, but I just don't think they're going to be able to turn around the Wii U in the eyes of developers. Public? Maybe. But we'll never get third party support for the Wii U. That ship has sailed...
  20. Yeah, really. Seller offered me 50% discount on the item, but claimed he never felt any sticker residue. Apparently the seller is Gex the gecko, and has naturally sticky paws.
  21. Because sometimes it makes sense. Blue Gamegear, for instance, it looks much better to have a blue LED. While not "blue", a purple LED on a PC Engine Duo R (or RW) makes sense as all the lettering on the console is purple... not red. No, on an NES, it's not a good fit. I agree. But not all systems "go" with red lights. Just a fact.
  22. Sega of America... throwing away countless potential sales, one day at a time...
  23. I'm a pretty lax guy when it comes to eBay auctions, and I know there's a percentage of time you will get screwed when buying on eBay. But this one really got under my skin. I just purchased a "mint condition! no wear! like new" condition Rocket Robot on Wheels for the N64. The crappy pictures sure made it seem like it was mint, so I bought it. I just got it in today, and there's nothing but old, gunky, half sticky sticker residue on the front and back labels. Not on the cart... no, no, they missed EVERY bit of plastic. But the labels (that you can't wash/clean without stripping the label of it's print) are completely covered in nasty sticker residue. Needless to say I'm ticked. If he had let me know, that's one thing. But really? Do eBayers even know what MINT CONDITION even means? I'm not going to complain about a scratch or some minor damage, but this thing literally feels nasty in your hand. Frankly, I wouldn't even both with eBay if it wasn't for the selection. If an AA member had the game for sale, I'd have bought it here instead. Ticks me off...
  24. If you like this game, try out Tomodachi Life. It has its flaws, for sure, such as not really being able to control the actions of anyone. But it's actually quite a bit of fun, reminds me of Animal Crossing in many ways, and is a very addicting time waster like Animal Crossing.
  25. Basically, yes, same premise. Game mechanics are different, though. They've been upgraded, which makes the game easier to play and collect items faster (including paying off homes). Also, there are more areas to explore. In the 3DS game, you have an island where you can do mini games, fish, and get tropical fruit, along with "beach" items like wetsuits and the like.
