I have disable the "Add Vectrex" function in the hope the robot gets an errormessage and the script kid cleans its URL from the Bot list. Lets see - i start it in about 7 days again to see if there are still constant spam mails. Stay tuned.
-
Yes we have been spammed - again and again - within 24 hours about 200 new entries. Is anyone here that knows how to add a CAPTCHA to a cakePHP made Database ? Actually the Serial DataBase is spammed by robots - i need a way to prevent that. but do not know how. To sad.
-
Sadly the DB was hacked - again. I try to recover as much as possible. I hope the script kid does not come back.
-

Dear Vectrex Friends and Collectors - today is the launch of the Vectrex Serial Number Data Base! There are a few Serial Number Bases out there but i tried to create one for research and fun. Please add your Vectrex. It takes about 5 Minutes if you have your Vectrex at the side. Please take your time because once submitted your data can only be changed by the admin (only done periodically). And here we go: www.vectrexmuseum.com/vecsdb

Today is the launch of the Vectrexmuseum's mirror version of Darryl B's Vectrex wiki under the URL vectrexmuseum.com/wiki. All articles written by Darryl have been mirrored to this wiki and will be maintained by Darryl in the future. So far we have 90 Vectrex related articles online, including GCE and homebrew game reviews, biographies; including an authorized biography of Jay Smith, company profiles and Vectrex trivia. The mirror version has been set up to save the important content that Darryl and the other wiki authors created in the case that wikia stops their free services. We encourage all wikia Vectrex wiki authors to sign up also at the museum´s mirror and maintain the page. Please contact Oliver (system admin) to get an author account. We got a mail from the first official visitor: Please visit the new vectrexmuseum.com/wiki Greetings, Darryl B. and Oliver, the wiki admins

Many of us have missed the VGDB - Vectrex Game Database since it disappeared more than six months ago. At the Vectrex Google Usergroup there was a long discussion of relaunching the website. Manu, the original founder sadly had no copy of the page but luckily there was a backup at webarchive.org. I got the permission by Manu to relaunch the page at vectrexmuseum.com I host the page and usually a Museum preserves important data - so I thought about recovering the most missed Vectrex pages. Today the series starts with the relaunch of the updated Vectrex Game Database. Other lost pages will follow. The problem with a webarchive backup is the strange data structure because the archive backups all new content of a page in a new folder. This results in hundreds of folders within folders and an increased MB size. The first backup was 250 MB in size (!), after reordering and -linking the content I could reduce it to 18 MB including ROMs, screenshots and manuals. There has been an update to nearly every game entry, I list only the most important ones: ROMs added for: Ronen´s Game Cart, Spike Goes Skiing, Animaction, Revector, Nebula, Astro Demo and others Demo Videos for: Spike, Cosmic Chasm, Hyper Chase, Pole Position and the legendary "Scramble - How to beat Video Games" Manuals for: Revector, Nebula, LOGO Screenshots for: Spike Goes Skiing, Spike´s Circus, Thurst, Test cart, Astro Demo, LOGO and the legendary Android Graphics (animated) Overlays various, i am looking for MESS / ParaJVE compatible Overlays for all games. Thanks to Jeronen at www.vectrex.nl I add a collection of Overlays today, these are emulator compatible. VGDB is now optimized for the view on mobile devices, you can now visit the page with your mobile phone or tablet-pc. A home icon and start screen for iPhones has been added. VGDB submition form added to update and add new games. Programmers, please add missing games (only published ones) and check the data of your listed games. Please make any changes if needed. I tried to update the links as good as possible. VGDB banner for your webpage and for games that have been listed in the database. I invested four days in recovering the page and need a little rest - so I added a Tell a friend function so you can easily spread the word about the new VGDB. Please help me by telling your five best Vectrex friends about the relaunched VGDB. And now... the big moment we have been waiting for: relaunch VGDB at http://www.vectrexmu...om/mirror/vgdb/ Have fun, Oliver

Hi, with the help of a programmer i was able to create a Macintosh Serial Number Decoder, you can read out the date of production, manufacture, model ID and more from a Mac serial number. All informations are stored in a number and letter code. But what about the Vectrex Serial Number? Is there some information that can be read out of the number, like production date, manufacture (USA, UK, Japan?) and the specific model ID ? Does anyone knows something about a hidden code in the Serial or is it just from 00000001 to 01234355 ? Please have a look to my new project at http://vectrexmuseum.com/mobile/vecapp.php The first mobile Vectrex Locator App for mobile devices!

Greetings and Happy New Year from VectrexMuseum! I hope you had a good start into 2012 - the year of the 30´th anniversary of the Vectrex. I am looking for Beta-Tester for a Vectrex related mobile web-application. I often use the mobile eBay version (and do not like it) on my iPod Touch to look for Vectrex collectibles while on the road. I wanted to have an easy way to search for my loved Vectrex gems. Here is the result: VecApp - if you have an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or any other mobile device with a web-browser and Internet access - please be my Beta Tester. Please start your smart phones mobile browser and got to www.vectrexmuseum.com/mobile The web-app loads about 10 seconds. I don´t want to talk to much about it - I want to know the questions you might have. Please take a few minutes and check out the application. There is a contact function inside the app - it would be great if you could use this form for a short test mail. Please send your feedback and bug reports direct to my mail address curator@vectrexmuseum.com If i have some strange English inside the app - please let me know - I am no native speaker. Please keep this among us before the final launch - the app is actually in Beta Test Phase. Thank you for your time. Have fun, Oliver - vectrexmuseum.com ps: try to find the Easter Egg - figure out how to start a demo video for the Vectrex inside the app...

Hi from Berlin, I like to inform you that I sell a very interesting item for Apple Collectors. I hope its worth a news... An Apple //c PROTOTYPE from the FROG Design Lab in San Jose, about 1983. I bought it from an Austrian Apple collector in 2007. It was a case design model in the FROG Design Laboratories, the design was created by Helmut Esslinger. There are several differences to the later sold Apple //c, please see the photos - I compare the prototype with a German production unit that is not included). The plastic is smooth and shiny/ not textured like later production units. The prototype is booting, a complete hardware system is inside the case, possibly also includes prototype hardware parts - I never opened this museums item. I have listed the Apple IIc at eBay.com USA but am located in Germany. The shipping costs to USA are 40 USD for all states. Shipped from Berlin, Germany. The Apple //c Prototype (ending: Saturday, July 31 ) is listed at ebay USA eBay Auction -- Item Number: 260640397492 I also add a Macintosh 128k in original box this evening, this one will be listed at eBay Germany because of the high shipping costs to USA. It is more interesting for European Collectors. Please send a message to all known Apple Collectors you know. You are free to use my photos for the news. Thank you for your help, Oliver at http://www.myoldmac.net

Dear David, you are for sure much longer and deeper inside all the data and facts and I am thankful for the informations you gave. I got a more detailed email from Mr. Bear today which I include here and on pongmuseum.com: While the B&W movie of Bill Harrison and me was indeed taped in 1969, we played the first ping-pong games in December of 1967 in preparation for a January 1968 visit by Teleprompter execs whom we had invited and considered as possible licensees. We then thought that videogames would best fit the cable business. Teleprompter was one of the biggest cable networks in the 1960s. ... P.S. I like your website. Ralph H. Baer So you are absolutely right that the first video ping-pong game was held in 1967. Mr. Baer´s definition of 40 years was related to the video which was produced in 1969. The problem with inventions is: when did they really happen ? In the moment you first think of it - when you sketch it on paper - when you tell someone about it - when you patent it - when its first produced or presented to the public ? I don´t know the golden rule. Mostly its the patent I think that is defined as invention date. May you can help me with some historical details: Is it correct that Mr. Rusch invented the second paddle on the Brown Box ? Who invented the "angle" effect on the paddle ? Kind regards, Oliver -

I agree! Better to use "electronic game" than "computer game".
