While not a traditional RPG, Zelda:Wind Waker was a good game. I think it's one of those love it or hate it games though. I'll second Paper Mario:1000 Year Door. I love that series.

I GOT ONE!!!! The long wait is over. My dear sweet wife had to go in to work at 4AM and got off at 7AM. She stopped by Targe on her way home and there was a line outside the store. She hopped in line and found out they had 30 systems coming in. She was about #20 in line. We had about 5-6 inches of snow last night, so it was a pretty cold wait. I have been setting it up and just loving it. The wife and I played some Wii Sports and she is hooked. I had a bit of a time getting the Wii on the Internet, but it was mainly because of my DSL modem. I upgraded the firmware and bingo, was on. I had really thought it was going to be later in to February or March before I had one.

I went to the local TRU over lunch yesterday and they still had almost a whole aisle devoted to GC. The end of the aisle (about 1/4 of it) was GC accessories. I was amazed to find a Donkey Konga 2 for $9.99, as I just got the bongos and was looking for this used. Of course the supply of GC GBA players they had were all gone. I just knew they would clearance them and they would fly disappear. I asked about Wii's and they had 6 come in that morning. They were gone in less than 20 minutes. I personally kind of like the end of a console game's era. You can start to scoop up the used titles. You know Block Busters are going to start clearing them out, and often have a buy 2 get one free or 25% off sale. Game Stop has a nice supply of used titles and they can be pretty cheap. My N64 collection was almost entirely built at the end of that era.

A Gamestop by me actually has a hot college girl working there! She has a nice lower back tattoo that shows up well when she bends over to pick things up from the lower shelves. She doesn't know much about games, but does that really matter?

What are the other 2? They really don't use the touch screen at all? I have been playing through "Mario & Luigi:Partners in Time" and it doesn't use the touch screen at all. It has graphics on both screens of course, but literally no menu navigation or anything is done via touch screen. You can't even start the game by touching the screen. Kind of surprising actually.

I must be in the minority that actually LIKES Gamestop. Their prices are very low on a lot of used games. I've been scooping up GBA games for my DS Lite at some really low prices. Plus there is the 10% discount on used games and they often run a buy 2 get 1 free promo on used games. My Gamecube collection has swelled because of this. And the staff is actually nice at the two stores I hit. I have stopped going to the independent local game store (Gamers) because their prices are actually higher than Gamestop. New games are a different matter completely though...

Console Wars It is so easy to get caught up in this crap. As with everything, you can't please everybody all (or any) of the time. Do what's good for you and try to enjoy it.

AAARRRGGHHH!!! I can't take it anymore! I have yet to find a Wii, and it isn't for lack of trying. My Christmas gift from my wife this year was a Wii, well, if she could have found one. I have been checking almost daily with Wal-Mart, Target, and even Gamestop on Wii shipments since before Christmas. It's always "we don't know when we will get them, they just show up, so call every day". I call and the typical response is "we didn't get any today and your the 25th call we got" or "we got 6 in and they were gone within an hour". This is insane. This is the first time I have ever tried to purchase a system at launch, so I guess this is to be expected. But it sure is frustrating!!! Has anybody actually seen them on the shelves?

I have been waiting for Toys R Us to blow these out. There are usually several on the shelves, but they are $60. Guess I'm cheap, but if they blew them out for $20 that would be awesome. Has anybody seen these being clearanced yet anywhere?

You are right. I can't believe I got caught up in a flame war over this. Sorry for derailing the topic. I rose to the bait and got carried away. I just need to step away, take a deep breath, and enjoy the gaming goodness that is out there so abunduntly. That's the thing, I think all three current consoles have something to offer.

Damn this game is fun! My wife was even getting in to it, and I think that makes the first time she ever played a Gamecube game with me. Now I'm starting to hunt down Donkey Konga and Donkey Konga 2. Are they also a good time?

You know damned well it is not a 'counter-point' to the discussion or even anything remotely productive. It is pure and simple trolling. It is beyond annoying. It is a Wii dedicated sub-forum, for crying out loud. What the hell do you expect would be the predominant tone here? If you don't like the Wii, stay the fuck out of the conversations or if you must contribute, do so productively. Calling people "Wiitards" is an outright insult, as you did in other threads. There are many people that like all the consoles. Why do you have to be so petty as to promote a "Wii sucks" attitude. I don't get you at all. I'm starting to understand why there are features on this forum to ignore and block other users. It can be interesting to hear other opinions, but not when someone is purposely just trying to be an asshat.

I'm really at a loss why there seems to be such an emphasis on "who will win the console wars" or what console is the "best"? I guess this has gone on since the school yard debates of "my Atari is better than your Intellivision", but it just seems so much more evident now. It's as if we are supposed to choose a console and hope the others fail. I personally think it is great that there is a choice, and each choice has its own strengths. You want HD graphics and solid online play - get an XBox360. You want a BluRay player, HD graphics and strong multimedia capabilities (and deep pockets) - get a PS3. You want a different way to play games and enjoy the Nintendo franchise games - get a Wii. I have always enjoyed the Nintendo systems and games, plus its affordable, so I'm getting a Wii. I sincerely would LOVE to get a PS3, especially after playing it at MegaManFan's place, but I just can't afford it right now. There's such venom going on about which console is the "best" and who will win the "war". I just don't get it. I enjoy reading the modern game forum and getting some great insight, but not the bullshit school yard fights that end up in most threads. Just had to vent...

*GASP* How dare you sir say that the Wii's online gaming sucks and the wiimote does not in fact take a dump on sliced bread. Maybe we should meet up for a a game of online deathmatch in Red Steel. Yeah that'll change your mind. @ Starscream and PuddWakkr - Have either of you trolls even played the Wii? If online play is important to you and you don't like a different control experience (sounds like you both prefer yet another FPS game you can show you l33t online sKillZ at) then don't buy a Wii. Thanks for the heads-up! I've wanted to pick that up for some time. Hope a GS around me has a set. I've been scooping up the used Gamecube titles at Gamestop. Some of the games are amazingly cheap. How can you go wrong with a $4.99 game, especially if you have the card that gets you 10% off. Plus all these Gamecube games are going to make nice food for my Wii (whenever they start showing up on the shelves that is).

That didn't last long. In big red letters, it now says OUT OF STOCK. I have officially given up hope for getting a Wii for Christmas.

I just left MegaManFans house and all I can say is WOW! I got to play both the Wii and the PS3 and we had a blast with both. I wasn't all that keen on the PS3 but I now understand what this console is. It was an amazing experience to see all the PS3 is capable of on MMF's hidef Sony TV. We watched part of a BluRay movie, listened to some MP3's, watched some AVI's, checked out YouTube, and oh ya, played a game. On the Wii side, we had a hoot playing some Wii Sports and Monkey Ball. It amazed me how the Wii controller is used much like you would perform the same action in real life. In Monkey Ball we played a darts mini-game and you actually treat the remote like a dart (but don't actually let go!). Apples and oranges. Two different experiences. The winner? The gamer is the winner. Damn you MMF. Where the hell am I going to come up with the cash for BOTH systems?!

I was SUPPOSED to be getting a Wii for Christmas from my wife, but she is getting frustrated about finding one. She had been talking to and going to Wal-Mart, Target, etc. with zero luck. Wal-Mart is supposed to be getting THREE in tonights shipment and they already have people camped for them. With only a few weeks before Christmas, I am pretty much giving up hopes of getting one. I'm sure after the holidays they will start appearing on shelves, but there is just too much demand now. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over to MegaManFan's place and at least get to try it.

Sounds pretty much like a Zelda game to me! Ocarina of Time up through Wind Waker seemed to have a lot of tasks you have to complete between fighting action. You know there will be action to come. You really didn't expect a pure 'hack and slash' did you? I'm just crossing my fingers that Tingle isn't in this game. I hated paying that bastard all my hard-earned rupees in Wind Waker.

Defender sucks ass. I love classic arcade games, but I never warmed up to Defender. Remixed graphics? You can spray paint a turd gold, but it is still a turd.
