Faceplant always seems broken to me.  Have you ever tried to use it without logging in (which is what I do, because I don't have an account and don't intend to)?  It's a miserable experience.

I don't know how badly Facebook works without a login, but I know you can't get anywhere on Pinterest without a login, and recently Instagram limited your viewing to a handful images per browser session if you're not logged in. I think that may be the trend of social media, to keep "peeping Toms" out of it as much as possible.

That's a side effect. They want to track everyone, everywhere.
