  1. Is there a solution to playing some of Champ's games on RetroPie? Off the top of my head Mappy and Wizard of Wor do not work. And now that I think of it Spiceware's Draconian doesn't work either.
  2. The problem I have with Demons of Death is if you would put the arcade and NES game side by side you see how much closer the bad guys in formation in the NES version.
  3. BITD I played the piss out of Galaga and considered it one of my favorite arcade games of all time (and still do). But in recent years I've been playing Galaxian more. And now in recent weeks I've been playing Galaga 90 (translation of Galaga 88) on the PC Engine and I'm really digging it. I've largely ignored Gaplus (although I've played it in tournaments) and Galaga 88 (up until recently). I wanted to keep this poll limited to the arcade games of the 70s and 80s. But feel free to discuss the abominations released afterwards whether it was arcade or console. I had Galaga Legions I think it was called for the Xbox 360 and it sucked ass.
  4. Got to play it tonight for the first time. I would say ditch the first 3 waves and start the game with what is now the 4th wave. I didn't lose a single ship in the game I played so in that regard it's too easy.
  5. Seconded. When I saw the announcement in status update I thought ROM purchases would also now be implemented. Leaving disappointed.
  6. Is there anyone here capable and willing to hack Tetris for the NES such that it never speeds up? I would desire to spend hours listening to the music and putting pieces together at the slowest speed without the stress associated with the game speeding up.
  7. OK but I look at it from the software side. The 5200 and CV library had a lot of translations of the golden age of arcade games, which I would define as being 1978-1983. While the NES had some translations of golden era arcade games, the offerings were largely moving forward from that era. Same could be said of the 7800. This may be totally incorrect according to what a technical definition of a console generation is. But it's just how I view the early consoles if I had to classify them.
  8. Probably the best Coleco game released for the system. I like it.
  9. 68K tonight. I was an outstanding opponent.
  10. Yes. Given that it's 2019 and games are more accessible nowadays.
  11. Easily in the top 5 arcade games of all time. I still play it today although I prefer to play speedup chip. I'll never forget the first time I played at the roller rink and how all the other kids in line in front of me were gushing about the game. My first impression was that it was very new and not something we've seen before.
  12. A friend of mine told me that a 32-GB SD card would be sufficient for Retropie. He was wrong. I upgraded to 128-GB SD card and because I didn't format the previous SD card FAT32 I couldn't just create an image and copy that to the new SD card. However copying the Retropie image is pretty quick it's just copying the ROMs back over which takes long. I started a file copy of the ROMs overnight via FTP and then for some reason the 5-GHz WiFi crapped out in the middle of the night and I had to reboot the router the next morning. So I restarted the file copy and Retropie was back up and running by the time I came home from work. Right now I'm emulating Atari 2600, 7800 & Lynx, Game Gear, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, MAME (two different ROM collections), Master System, Genesis, N64, NES, PC Engine, Playstation, SG-1000, SNES and Vectrex. I think I'm up to like 10,000 games or some shit. This thing is awesome. I haven't been out of the house in 3 days and haven't showered or brushed my teeth either. I've just been playing video games with occassional breaks to get on AtariAge.
  13. Yes I was a big fan of this game BITD. I remember our local Two Guys Department store had a Space Fury and Star Castle side by side. Two kick ass vector games. Whenever I get in a hypomanic state I like to play some Space Fury and just kill everything in sight. What a great shooter this game is. The games released for the ColecoVision and Vectrex just don't do it for me. According to Aurcade.com my high score on the arcade game is 68K which I put up at the Funspot tournament years ago. Just put up 40K on my Pi.
  14. I'll take two. One to play and one to put on the shelf.
  15. It sucks. Pause the video at 16 seconds and look at the sparse playfield. Boring.
  16. And if it doesn't sell next stop is Craigslist/Facebook marketplace where someone can pick it up locally.
  17. r/food was a disappointment today

I've never been able to get into the Reddit thing. I've tried, though.

It's an acquired taste I guess. Took me a while to warm up to it but there's a ton of subreddits out there. With the off topic forums here on AA in the decline the last couple years just makes more sense to post on Reddit instead.

  18. It's gone. BTW, this is my last week of auctions until after Xmas. USPS sucks this time of year with long lines and always only one postal worker behind the counter and it's just not worth the frustration. I still have a bunch of stuff to get rid of so stay tuned.
