  1. Hi everyone . I'm really interested in using an emulator for gameplay on my PC. I suppose what I'm looking for as a little advice, or a primer or something, because I've never used this method before. Which one is best? Is it difficult to configure on the PC, and is there a high rate of error? (aka, will I screw up my computer?). If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it...I'm very interested in this as I've heard so many talk about them. Are they stable? How do you hook up the joystick? I've visited the Stella website but it wasn't really clear. Thanks so much, Brandi~:-)
  2. The game is Fast Food, something I really wanted to play . This may sound dumb, but how do you go about opening it? I mean, without destroying it? There are no screws evident (well as far as I can tell) on this cart. When you get inside, what parts do you NOT clean? If its shot anyway, I guess I have nothing to lose by cracking the case. I tried another swab and alcohol cleaning today and got no results. It may very well be like someone suggested, a chip gone bad.
  3. I've tried continually turning off the power and retrying it, to no avail. Broncoeman said something about bit rot...could this be it? I also wanted to say that the man I purchased the cartridge from has refunded my money, and doesn't require my returning the game, which is very nice. Everything worked out. Meanwhile, I'm going to try different methods of cleaning, perhaps a light abrasive method, perhaps I'll open the cartridge, I dunno. I can't give up yet . Thanks everyone who offered advice! --Brandi~
  4. Hi everybody and thanks for your replies. In response to the nailfile suggestion--is that a nail file, or an emory board? An emory board has two sides, a darker side and a lighter one and can be easily bent. A nail file is usually metal with a plastic handle and is not as malleable. I'm willing to try this...will I have to crack the case? How would I do that? For Trey: I have no picture or sound, just the vertical multicolored bars and the usual strange, monotone buzz or hum. Sometimes just black screen and buzzing. As for my method of cleaning it, I used the alcohol and q-tip method listed here at atariage.com.
  5. No, it didn't say "tested and working," but it did say "this rare game is in excellent condition." Are there any other options for me to try and clean this thing, or might that be the problem? Any other things that might work? I plan on notifying the seller that it didn't work. I'm not an evil person, per se , but I think he needs to know it. Should I tell him I cleaned it, or not? He might think I screwed it up if I did that, negating any refund I might receive...whatdya think?
  6. ! I recently purchased Fast Food from a guy on e-bay. The cartridge arrived yesterday, and it wouldn't play. I cleaned it using the alcohol and q-tip method, and it still won't play! Can anyone tell me what's going on, and if I have any options? My 2600 is just fine, it plays other cartridges perfectly. Please help! Is there any hope, or have I just been had? I was seriously looking forward to playing this game . Thanks for any replies!
  7. Thanks for the reply. I looked at the back of my Atari and none of the pins are broken off. If it is these other problems (that you mentioned) then how do you fix it? Is it common to have two controllers broken at once, and have it not be the Atari? If it is the Atari, how do you fix it? Sorry for so many questions! --Brandi~:-)
  8. I have a "slick stick" joystick and a regular joystick that came with the Atari. BOTH of them are broken! The regular one won't go up and the slick stick won't go left. Sometimes it's the other away around, or . How do I fix this? Do I need knew controlllers, or can I just clean them? Has anyone ever had this problem before? Thanks for any replies...my atari is now hookedup via Monster cable and A/V swith. --Brandi~:-)
  9. Hi everyone. I'm hooking up my old system and I'm missing the RCA. I've tried hooking up with a standard red/yellow/white cable trio, none of them work. The plug seems to fit, but when I switch it on, there's a black screen and frying. Please help! What kind of cable do I need? I'm hooking up via coax using an A/B switch. The cable seems to be my only stumbling block thus far. Thanks a lot, Brandi~:-)
