  1. I hate how a dishwasher that normally does a great job just decides one day to basically take a crap on your dishes, no matter what dishwashing liquid/pod/rinse agent you use.

Absolute necessity for us.  My wife and I both cook, so the volume of pots, pans, dishes, etc. that we generate in a single day would be difficult to keep up with by hand.  Our kitchen also has what I can only describe as a somewhat crap layout, so not having a drying rack on the counter next to the sink is a huge plus.

What we did find was that in order for this specific model of appliance to do a decent job, it's absolutely necessary to use the prewash function - basically, add a soap pac to the usual spot, but also fill the prewash container with gel dishwashing soap.  Doing that pretty much eliminates the need to rewash items that don't get clean with just the pacs alone.

Also, as @thanatos mentioned, the Technology Connections episode on dishwashers is actually well worth a watch:

I love my Dishwasher!  Don't know what I'd do without it.  I'll sometimes throw in some pre-wash soap or even splash some vinegar around before using.  They say it prevents water spots,...Not that mine ever has those.  I just rinse a dish after using, or throw it in the sink...And once I fill and use my Dishwasher every dish comes out beyond sparkling clean,  almost without exception.

In fact,  my friend's mom sometimes makes me veggie lasagna and when I'm done the glass pan always looks...Thrashed! like it could never be cleaned,  but a couple of hours in my dishwasher, and it looks brand new and crystal clear!

Thanks for the suggestions folks.  I almost never have this issue; I don't get spots ever, but once in a great while it just doesn't remove food chunks.  I make sure to rinse the dishes really well before putting them in.  An hour might not be long enough sometimes I guess.  I hope Cascade is one of the better pod brands; that's what I'm using.  I'll look at the video and link; thanks very much!

  3. DEFENDER Wow, I guess there are some neat tricks to pull off with this one. You can fry at either the attract mode or after starting a game. If you fry and make the city buildings go wonky there are all sorts of different effects that may happen-- most notably, your score may be way higher! Also, you may have possibly infinite lives, start with different enemies or begin on the "mutant wave". Hard to get this to work right or keep the frying from crashing the game, but well worth trying.
  4. Happy Anniversary to the great NEO GEO thread! And thank you Anthony for the massively cool NEO GEO sign to put on my NEO GEO cabinet (in the background)! Would have fashioned together a celebratory video if I had time-- I will have to do that for the 10th anniversary. Cheers!
  5. He worked on the first anime that got me interested in Japanese animation: DANGAIOH. It still has brilliant colors and animation (especially for the 80s), and the "fanservice" aspect isn't as overdone as in other anime.
  6. Oh, I see. Yeah I had no idea you could pull it off with frying-- I'd never even heard of frying until recent years. I did know about the reset trick for double shots back then. What a lifesaver of a trick!
  7. I tried it a few times; I guess I didn't find it all that interesting. All I remember getting to work was a different position for your ship to start in when you begin your game, if you fry while starting your game. Maybe I should check it out again.

  9. Update: You will be unable to play the 2nd level unfortunately, since the edges of the screen are drawn inward to block off both ends of the "spider dungeon" and you are stuck below it.
  10. Nuts-- I went into Controller Input in Stella and tried to set up both "controller ports" to use the same inputs, but it won't work. So I can't just use the same controls when the game switches me to the other player. It is indeed very awkward to switch to another control setup during your game. And every time I fry to prevent enemies from firing it's the "swap players" setting. Boo!
  11. TENNIS At the beginning screen (the ball bouncing by your player) fry until you see the ball bouncing really slow. Serve it, and now you will have a much slower game. If you get lucky another effect is the computer opponent won't move at all!
  12. BREAKOUT Fry when the screen appears (attract mode where you can steer the paddle but not serve the ball, and it cycles through the colors). The walls may be missing many blocks. If so, hit game start switch. At the very least hopefully the far right column of blocks will be missing at the start of your game! The score and lives counter will probably be wonky though.
  13. Not a game box/cartridge but title screen.. and pretty dumb.. but oh well
