I wouldn't go that far but many people just seem to just want another PS360 and I'm of the opinion that the world really doesn't need 3 near-identical consoles on the market. I've never really been a Nintendo supporter but thank god one of these companies is at least trying to do something different. On another note, here's a piece that came out today from a little website called Forbes- http://www.forbes.com/sites/johngaudiosi/2012/09/30/nintendo-already-has-a-hit-on-its-hands-with-sold-out-wii-u-consoles-nationwide/

MS seems to be going full bore with Kinect and PS4 will probably support 4k resolution. That's about it so far.

Same here. While I may eventually add a 3DS, the Wii U is the end of the line for me. The next MS and Sony consoles could come with the ability to give the owner head and I still wouldn't buy one, I just don't care anymore. While I'm being a bit flippant, I can't picture anything those 2 companies could do or feature that would possibly make me support them in their future endeavors.

Here is a very lengthy article on the gameplay differences between the Wii U's Ninja Gaiden 3 and the previously released version- http://www.2d-x.com/ninja-gaiden-3-razors-edge-wii-u-it-doesnt-suck/

Latest news is that just about everybody is completely tapped out of preorders of both bundles, both online and in-store.

GameStop , the world’s largest multichannel retailer of video games, announced today that it has created a Nintendo Wii U wait list exclusively for members of its PowerUp Rewards loyalty program. Due to overwhelming demand, the retailer recently stopped taking pre-orders on the Wii U Deluxe Set and Basic Set. The new wait list program allows PowerUp Rewards members to sign up to be notified when additional quantities of the Wii U become available for purchase after the Nov. 18 launch. “Demand for Wii U has been off the charts and we know many of our PowerUp Rewards members are anxious to get their hands on one,” said GameStop president Tony Bartel. “We’re happy to offer our customers this exclusive opportunity to join the wait list for this must-have item.” PowerUp Rewards members can visit any U.S. GameStop store to join the Wii U wait list (limit two per household). Once on the list, customers will be notified when a Wii U is available for purchase and will have 48 hours to respond. There is no deposit required to join the wait list and enrolling does not guarantee a Wii U on or by a specified date or at a specific price. http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=186151&sid=727ecdef37664d63919336602253db21

"All that talk about the Wii U being “weak”, “underpowered”, and not capable of outputting graphics like the Xbox 360 or PS3, is apparently hogwash. Unity Technology's CEO David Hegalson squashes the rumors by acknowledging just how far the Wii U's tech can scale and what developers will be capable of utilizing with the Unity alone. So, for those of you who don't know the Unity Engine is like a poor-man's equivalent of the Unreal Engine. It's not an insult, it's actually a compliment. You get many of the same or similar features from the Unreal Engine but at a fraction of the cost and with a lot of less “coding bulk” found in the very efficient but top heavy Unreal Engine. Recently, Unity Technology announced that the Unity Engine will be supported by Nintendo and the Wii U across the globe, opening up development via the indie-friendly engine for developers both big and small. On the upside, at least it's confirmed the system can make use of the higher end functionality of today's generation's game engines, which should be a sigh of relief for a lot of gamers out there who were afraid that the Wii U just wasn't up to par. In fact, if what Hegalson says coincides with the actual specs of the Wii U, that could put the graphics card at least two generations ahead of the Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of shader capabilities, shadowing and lighting effects, since neither current gen console is capable of producing DirectX 11 equivalent graphic effects. Perhaps the $350 price tag isn't so high after all? " http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Wii-U-GPGPU-Squashes-Xbox-360-PS3-Capable-DirectX-11-Equivalent-Graphics-47126.html

ZombiU:The Dark Souls of zombie games http://www.vg247.com...f-zombie-games/ if somebody told me a year ago that a hardcore survival horror/rogue-like game was going to be a launch title on a nintendo console, i'd have called them a dirty liar.

Two game systems acquired...thanks to the wife

your wife sounds like a keeper good finds. -
according to this, no- "The Infinity Engine that redefines the game’s physics on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3? MIA. That means what you’re playing are the tired old tackles and movements of “Madden 12” while the older systems get the groundbreaking goodness of Infinity. Also left off the features list are popular modes like Madden Ultimate Team and Online Team Play. " http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/tech/post/_/id/1471/madden-nfl-13-wii-u-qa

I preordered the black one, along with Super Mario and Zombi U. Mario in 720p and HDMI is going to look eye-meltingly awesome. I also have a new found love of the wii so this just seemed like an obvious choice. The backwards compatibility and stuff like the tv features sealed the deal. At this point in my gaming career I want different experiences and Nintendo is offering them. Except for maybe adding a 3DS, this will probably be my sole "next gen" console for the next several years.

ooh, got some bad news about rayman legends according to a poster on another site- - World map shown - New level shown - In the single player mode a good portion of the game will be played as Murfy. Rayman will be AI controlled and Murfy (the player) is his protector - There will still be some "classic" levels where you can play as Rayman in single player http://www.neogaf.co...245&postcount=1 i want to actually play as rayman, not his protector like it's some lightgun game..

Rayman Legends looks ridiculously good.

stories are popping up that gamestop has hit their preorder allotment so places like best buy should be out soon too. thank god i got off my ass early for once. i usually snooze&lose on everything under the sun.
-
i originally was going to get the white one. i don't download games so the memory isn't a big deal to me (i could always add an external drive to it later on if i wanted to) but the wife decided she wants nintendo land so i ended up with a black one. the u.s. is getting hosed on the pack-in imo, japan gets monster hunter and europe/u.k. gets zombi u.

nintendo commissioned pretty much an entirely new game for the wii u version, from what i've heard they actually had their hands in its development/port. http://www.thehdroom...-and-More/11222 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIBw5M6f_YA&feature=player_embedded it looks like real combos are back instead of that button press nonsense. http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/9/13/3326858/ninja-gaiden-3-razors-edge-for-wii-u-adds-ayane-as-a-playable

a tad off topic but the producer of bayonetta is now receiving death threats for making part 2 a nintendo exclusive. (ignoring the fact that theres only a part 2 because of nintendo. sega was perfectly content to kill off the IP)
-
i pulled the trigger and preordered one (the premium version), SMBU and zombiu. like xeno, this is the first console that i've actually been able to afford at launch. the price, plus zombiu and playing super mario in 720p was simply too good for me to pass up. (plus the wife just about shat herself when i showed her the lego city game). it's an odd thing to say but nintendos prices and power are just about as much as i care about the hobby anymore.i don't care about bleeding edge, i don't care if the ps4 can give me head, i just want to play current/future games at a reasonable price. plus even when the ps4/720 are released in a year or 2 (at god only knows what MSRP), it's still going to take another year or 2 for those consoles to show their worth. by then the wii u devs will be at the top of their game.

Nintendo is doing a final reveal of the Wii U so I'm just sharing stuff I come across. http://www.nintendo-...ram-disc-speed/ .ugh, sorry for small size of quotes, i don't know how to fix that. for further comparison, the 360 reads discs at 15.85mb/s http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Wii-U-Japanese-Release-Set-December-8th-46857.html

it'll be fun until somebody hacks it and does instant kills on everyone or somesuch.

Made my purchase tonight...but it's not what you think.
xg4bx replied to Unbeliever's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
i need to get myself some type of handheld. there's so many good ds games and i just pretty much skipped that whole segment of gaming for some reason. -
ouch. screw that, i don't have the patience for obscure games and spending hours trying to advance all because i can't figure out a puzzle. that's more of a turn off than merely challenging bosses would be.
