  1. call me silly but it seems to me that maybe they should try reinvigorating their old franchises like strider, dino crisis or ghouls n ghosts/demon's crest to fill in gaps instead of milking the others into dust.
  2. http://www.eurogamer...ing-development *sigh* in other words, quickly pumped out games that are chock full of dlc, every year, that we get the pleasure of dropping $60 to buy into. people say another industry collapse is unlikely but i don't know anymore.
  3. modern games have killed my skills. was playing smb3 last night and flying into a rage at how difficult it was.

  4. i got one a few months ago and don't regret it one bit. except for nintendos first party titles, many of the good games on the system can be had for the cost of a big mac these days.
  5. rumors have the system launching november 11th in 3 skus ranging from $250-$350 http://www.videogame...tributor_2.html if i had to guess the $250 would be the base console, $300 with a game, $350 with game and pro controller.
  6. The Diamond Trust of London is now available for purchase outside of its Kickstarter origins. And for the collectors out there, this will probably be the DS' rarest title. http://diamondtrustgame.com/buy.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDcLmpgF_zk&feature=related
  7. La-Mulana, a Symphony of the Night inspired game starring an archaeologist, will be seeing an American WiiWare release next month. http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=184369 footage from the japanese version- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W4f69Qd6Bc
  8. maybe not right at launch but i'll see how the landscape looks around christmas i.e. finances/availability.
  9. got the last story last week and i absolutely love it. it seems like a much nicer mix of east meets west game design than anything i've seen lately. it's action packed, the characters are interesting and the graphics are great. i usually hate jrpgs but xenoblade and the last story are great games.
  10. There ya go. If you're liking the Wii, the Wii U is going to be more of the same. Hopefully, maybe even a little better. If you're not liking the Wii now, well, the Wii U is still likely to be more of the same, so dust off those old "Gamecube 1.5" jokes! pretty much. i've been absolutely loving the wii and i'd like to see what the new controller can bring to the table. plus, like i mentioned, being able to use all my current controllers and games is a massive plus. the graphics boost doesn't hurt either- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI9DaepJ_fk&list=LLm5L-Y4E67-j53k7h5MW6tg&feature=mh_lolz
  11. nintendo pretty much cemented my purchasing of a wii u with the backwards compatibility of both games and controllers. it'll be sweet bringing it home and being completely ready to go without having to drop $60 on another controller.
  12. Batman:Brave and the Bold and Spiderman:Shattered Dimensions
  13. Nintendo has confirmed that all of your old Wii downloads – including WiiWare games and Virtual Console classics – will be able to be transferred to your new Wii U. The confirmation comes to us via ABC News , and the report goes on to say that a restructuring of user logins and accounts will occur to help make the transition happen. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/05/e3-2012-old-wii-downloads-will-transfer-to-wii-u
  14. i've seen people complain about ms charging $$$ for patches, but you know what? if these publishers knowingly release shit, it should hit them in the wallet. publishers are lucky that these console manufacturers aren't playing hardball and making them pull the games but it sucks for consumers. these seem like problems that should have easily been caught with an iota of quality control before it went out the door.
  15. nintendo would need a far more secure online system before i'd play something like this. hackers have made virtually every online wii game unplayable.
  16. i just ordered xenoblade and i'll end up getting the last story. i usually hate rpgs but they just seem like something different from the standard jrpg fare.
  17. i'm honestly surprised that the term "vidiot" wasn't used in the story.
  18. why should people run out and buy a new game when they can set their watch by the release date of a newer, "better" version of the game that just came out? i really like assassins creed but jesus man, i don't need a new one every bleeping year. it wears out its welcome and i've already started waiting for them to drop to $20. even nintendo fell into this trap. i remember when a new mario game was a massive event. now they're released so often that i just shrug instead of getting excited. a sequel should be a happy event, not an annual expectation.
  19. recent rumors have the wii u pegged at between $300-350, which is a fair price imo.
  20. i think 2&3 are connected. publishers don't want mid-tier titles anymore. they want every game to be a AAA call of duty blockbuster and simply refuse to scale development costs accordingly, which leads to "well it didn't sell 5 million so its a flop. lets make a sequel to X instead". developers shouldn't be going bankrupt after 1 lukewarm game but they are thanks to "lets go whole hog and spend a AAA budget on our new IP/title"-itis, instead of spending a modest budget and hoping an audience grows. and it really doesn't say much for gamers when their interest in the hobby is dependent on flashy new hardware being released every other year rather than simply wanting good new games.people still enjoy films without having a hardware upgrade every other year to maintain their interest. i think that speaks volumes about the quality of the games that publishers are releasing. if i was getting a steady stream of genuinely good games, a new gen of hardware can wait forever. if you need to rely on gimmicks to keep people interested, you're doing something wrong.
  21. i just think that there is something fundamentally rotten with their business models when low to mid tier IPs are expected to shift call of duty numbers in order to survive. that's simply a clear sign that they're spending far too much goddamn money on development. they're trying to spend hollywood budgets on these games and it's killing the industry. i like darksiders (and dead space) but these mid tier games are never going to sell multi-million copies and they need to start scaling the development costs accordingly and let a fanbase grow, rather than trying to force a blockbuster.
  22. Can Darksiders II perform well enough on store shelves to warrant a third game in a trilogy arc? According to new THQ president Jason Rubin, that probably won’t happen unless the upcoming action title hits “four or five million” copies in total sales. Vigil Games’ lead designer Haydn Dalton was quite frank about it when talking to VideoGamer about a potential future for the Darksiders franchise, noting that a third game in the series would effectively shrink its scope in order to have a more polished game experience at its core. According to Dalton, a potential Darksiders 3 title is also up to the public, as he noted that Darksiders 2 would have to do a remarkable sales number in order to continue justifying itself as a core property in THQ’s smaller gaming portfolio: http://www.egmnow.co...rs-3-to-happen/ the unsustainable business model of modern gaming strikes again.
  23. watching the entire video i have to say that the wii actually had quite a few really good games, as well as some truly graphically impressive ones. i got myself another wii a few weeks ago and i'm truly pleased with it and definitely appreciate it a lot more.
