  1.

I didn't think it was possible, but Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has topped Returns. It's an incredibly crafted platformer with an HD sheen and an insane attention to detail, and any fan of the genre owes it to themselves to experience it. With the addition of control options to the already proven formula, Retro Studios' rendition of Donkey Kong is pretty much flawless.

  2. They need fresh blood, pure and simple. The company is pretty much held hostage by Iwata and Miyamoto and their whims. I don't care if you don't feel like making and F Zero or Star Fox, Shiggy, put every ounce of tech you've got into these games as showpieces for what the console can do. Buy more 2nd and 3rd party devs because every generation your 1st party titles simply preach to the already converted.

They just need fresh and exciting games, games, and more games, and to finally break out of their dusty and stagnating Japanese business mentality.

  3. Oh is that the lava level with the rotating blocks that you have to stay on? I absolutely despised that level because I suck at mechanics like that.

Yeah, I'm figuring this out now.. At Bowser's World (the real one), and it's definitely picking up in difficulty. I lost 20-something lives and got my first game over on the "Grumpy Blocks" (or whatever it's called) stage.

  4. After a bit more time with the game I'd dare say that this is the Wii U's ''killer app''. While I've enjoyed the console since launch this is the first game that's made me think ''holy crap, I'm glad I have this console''. And next year with DK, Smash, Mario Kart, and Bayonetta methinks the fun won't end anytime soon.

  5. I played my parent's Atari but them buying me a Jr of my own for Christmas was the shit. I don't think it was a coincidence that a Jr was the first model I bought a few years ago when I got back in to Atari.

I wonder how many people here got a nice new atari 2600 jr for Christmas and have fond memories of that day? I mean, in that era you could have bought an atari at a garage sale for $20 with a pile of games. It was outdated, atari had better systems out, competitors had better systems out...but I bet plenty of kids that didn't have video games yet still got a new jr under the tree and probably loved it. Just saying, what Nintendo is doing here isn't some new idea or anything :P

  6. As for me it falls into the ''decent'' category. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a Sonic fan to begin with but I'm just not feeling this game. It's definitely a quality title with good production value but it really doesn't suit my tastes.

  7. There is also going to be a Skylanders Swap Force/Nintendoland bundle in November for $299, however it is the white 8 gig console.

A white Wii U Basic system
A Skylanders SWAP Force starter pack that includes:
Skylanders SWAP Force Wii U software
    A Portal of Power
Three Skylanders figures, including Ninja Stealth Elf (one of the Core Skylanders) and two SWAP Force characters: Blast-Zone and an exclusive color shift Washbuckler
A collector poster, trading cards and sticker sheets
    A Nintendo Land game disc

If you break it down though, that's $100+ worth of software included. Pretty good deal if you're into Skylanders.
