  1. I'm not a soldier but I did just that....a used one (I had traded my last one in towards the U). I'm kinda glad to say that MS has made almost no money off of me as a consumer this past generation. Other than a few months where I paid for XBL for Netflix, they've gotten nothing from me. I'll keep playing my used 360, and my used 360 games, and nod appreciatively at my financial savings. And for the record I've purchased 25 retail games for the U, every one of them brand new. I reward the decent companies.
  2. I have no brand loyalty to anything in life; I go where the cheapest price for a decent product is in everything from video games to cereal.
  3. Oddworld New 'n Tasty and Stranger's Wrath HD will also be appearing on the eshop- http://nintendoenthusiast.com/18728/oddworld-new-and-tasty-strangers-wrath-hd-coming-to-the-wii-u/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  4. Agreed. I think this is the first game to show what the console is capable of and certainly the first U game that had me saying ''holy crap, I need to play that''.
  5. I'm very pleased. A new Donkey Kong Country is always welcome. Mario Kart looked insane. Mario 3D land looks like a blast. And X damn near made me poop myself-
  6. Mega Man in Smash Bros?? Color me a surprised and happy boy.

  7. I already have a U and I'll probably eventually get a PS4.
  8. I'm still sticking with my U for the time being but the PS4 is definitely on my radar now.
  9. PS4-no drm, no mandatory online and $100 cheaper than the Xbone

    1. Gemintronic

      Gemintronic

Optional DRM. Which means any company producing the same game for the Xbone with DRM will do the same for PS4. Yucky.

The camera is not included so that makes it only $40 less.

  10. My future is Nintendo only going forward. Looking at how the ps3 ended up becoming a shadow of its former self as Sony kept snipping away features, I have little to no faith in the ps4. The U is nowhere near perfect but at least it doesn't kick me in the balls then demand that I pay for the privilege. I've said before that I thought that at the end of the day the U will end up being the least offensive option for gamers from a consumer rights perspective and it seems I'm proven right by the day.
  11. Here's some gameplay. It's taking me a while to completely understand what they're going for but I think it has potential.
  12. ''“With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies." ''Microsoft also spelled out its policies on game lending, trade-ins and rentals. "In our role as a game publisher, Microsoft Studios will enable you to give your games to friends or trade in your Xbox One games at participating retailers. Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers. Microsoft does not receive any compensation as part of this. In addition, third party publishers can enable you to give games to friends." http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/06/microsoft-details-xbox-one-used-games-always-online
  13. Got DKC Returns 3D from Gamefly. I enjoyed the game on the Wii but IMO it feels so much better on the 3ds.
  14. I never really got into online gaming, MMO or otherwise. I simply lose interest far too quickly.
  15. Modern video games have atrophied my skills to the point that it took me a dozen tries to get past the first red gargoyle halfway through the first level of Ghosts 'n Goblins. How embarrassing.

I'm garbage at Ghosts 'N' Goblins. I don't think I've ever cleared the first level.

  16. Here's a bunch more info about the game from IGN- http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/28/sonic-lost-world-taking-a-page-from-mario-galaxy ''“We wanted to create an all-new design for 3D Sonic games with Sonic: Lost World,” producer Takashi Iizuka told me via e-mail. “Ever since the first day of development, we were focused on creating new and unique levels to best fit this new style.” That ‘style’ basically removes Sonic from the constraints of a cohesive, grounded world design. Instead, players will find themselves twisting, turning and jumping along floating constructs suspended in mid-air. Levels are now informed by gameplay needs, with some stages focusing on slower speeds with more platforming, and others pushing players to run as fast as possible. Aesthetic ideas are now more free, ranging from the more idyllic, grassy settings of Wind Hill to something like Desert Ruins 1, which consists of cakes, cookies, donuts and all manners of candy. And just to throw a curveball, Desert Ruins 2 drops the sweets theme entirely, and features an entirely different gameplay style, opting for the ‘tunnel racing’ concept that Sonic games have used for decades. Of course, all of this works within Sonic’s typical level designs, which feature a wide range of branching paths and exploration options.''

  18. ''While Sony has already confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will allow consumers to play used games, to date the company has not detailed specifics of how second-hand software or any associated digital rights management (DRM) will be handled. Still unanswered is the question of whether or not players will be required to pay additional fees to activate a previously owned game. GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighley believes that Sony may be looking to follow Microsoft's lead by considering DRM for used games in the upcoming generation. "Sony I think has been seen as this kind of white knight so far that’s not going to restrict used games. Based on some of the things I’m hearing, I don’t think that’s entirely true. I can’t see publishers allowing one system to do one thing more than another," he said.'' http://www.gamespot.com/news/ps4-may-include-drm-for-used-games-report-6408925
  19. Rumor has it that they'll have a new 3D Mario, Mario Kart, and the HD remake of WindWaker out in the fall. IMO they should drop the price of the deluxe down to $300 and keep Nintendoland as a pack-in. A ''new'' $300 console with a game vs new $400+ consoles full of anti-consumer tech and no backwards compatability? I think they'd do fine.
  20. I've got a U and it's good enough for me. I've never really been a Nintendo booster but I simply couldn't care less what MS&Sony have to offer anymore. Stuff like Mario, Metroid, and Zelda are where my tastes and interests lie these days.

  22. I got my U at launch and I still haven't found a reason to justify buying the pro controller yet. Games that I thought would handle like ass using the gamepad like Ninja Gaiden, CoD or Injustice turned out to be no problem for me. Since using the pad I've played games using standard controllers and they feel simply too small and cramped for my hands now.
  23. I haven't been able to think of a more anti-consumer product than this new Xbox. I have yet to figure out a single thing that's been revealed about this console that would hold any interest for me whatsoever. I don't care what bloody games it has when it seems like I literally won't be able to own anything involved with the console and I shudder to think at how much things like XBL will increase in price in order to enjoy the ''privilege'' of ownership. This is pretty much everything that's wrong with modern gaming rolled up into one shitty package.
  24. D'oh, you beat me to it. ''The system will reportedly work as such: consumers can trade in physical Xbox One game discs only at retailers that have agreed to Microsoft's terms and conditions and have integrated the company's cloud-enabled Azure preowned technology into their own. The traded in title is then registered on Microsoft's systems as having been re-sold and the data files will be cleared from their Xbox One account. Such a system would explain Microsoft's position that the Xbox One must "check in" with its servers once every 24 hours.'' http://uk.gamespot.com/news/xbox-one-preowned-plan-revealed-6408850?tag=Topslot;Slot1
