  1. originally, my parents had one that i played alot so they got me a 2600 jr that x-mas. i recently got back into atari for a combination of reasons. i lost my brother, which made me reflect/ reminisce about my own life. i got almost completely burnt out on modern games for awhile and i got hooked on the classic game room on youtube. plus i have hobby a.d.d. and classic gaming was an avenue i hadn't explored.
  2. anybody get theirs yet? or haven't they started shipping yet?
  3. the only tweaks that are being made (so far) is fixing typos and glitches. yes, the game is hard. but its "old school" hard, not cheap, broken gameplay hard. i think it has this reputation because people raised on modern games are so used to the non-stop handholding. this game leaves you alone and requires that you use the block button, use caution and play smart. there are no checkpoints, if you get killed its back to the beginning of the "level". early on, you are required to "grind" for souls (currency) so you can upgrade your items and stats. i think anybody who played truly hardcore games like wizardy when they were growing up, would feel right at home with this game. or if youve played the ds game dark spire, this is the more action oriented 3d equivalent.
  4. meh. i already own mp3 and i can get mp1&2 at gamestop for like $20 for the pair. why exactly did nintendo bother with backwards compatibility? is this just their way of shutting up the "hardcore" for a few months? enough with the "wiimakes" already. that goes for capcom too, i can get the 'cube resident evil for $10. and you want $30? sorry, some added wiggle isnt worth paying the difference. and yet people get angry when punters suggest that the wii is just a reskinned gamecube....go figure.
  5. from a gameplay standpoint, mountain king. i got it as a present from a friend of the family when i was probably around 7 and it blew me away. it was definitely a far cry from the atlantis and laser blast i was used to. i can still hear the music when i close my eyes. the spider also freaked me out lol. i always panicked when i was nearing the bottom.
  6. you CAN jump. personally i love the game. so what if its linear? its telling a point A to point B story. they needed to hem in the level boundaries otherwise the game would be a focus-less mess. i enjoy its old-school challenge and everything from the capcom logo to the awesome remixed music is an absolute fanservice love letter. ign gave it an 8 and thats right on the money.
  7. the music is awesome, its literally almost identical to the movie.
  8. Gaming Union writes "Demons Soul's, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Japanese Action RPG, has just been confirmed for a North American release. It will be published by Atlus and will be appearing Fall 2009."
  9. 3do had some really good games. -street fighter 2 and samurai shodown (easily the best home ports at the time) -need for speed -road rash -doom -immercenary -killing time (fps that scared the S out of me) -2 ad@d first person rpgs (i forget the names) -wing commander -return fire (awesome game) plus alot more that i owned at one point and just forgot. i remember it being a solid system, i definitely enjoyed it.
  10. the 2 games are similar yet different enough. i loved ng2 and poo-pooed ninja blade at every opportunity until i actually played it. believe me, going in i didn't expect much. but right around the time i was fighting enemies while running/free falling down the side of a crumbling skyscraper, is when i fell in love. ng is a slower, more methodical game. this one is the non-stop action, insane scenario equivalent. theyre both 2 different sides of the same coin. its worth at least renting.
  11. anybody else think this game is awesome and completely underrated? i picked it up today and im completely blown away. imo its better than ninja gaiden. thats a controversial opinion i know, but this game oozes coolness.
  12. meaning a print newsletter, maybe some type of aa store discount card that nets you 10% off purchases and access to a truly limited edition "subscriber only" cartridge? i would pay up to $50 a year for this and im sure alot of aa regulars would as well.
  13. what decides if something will go out of print or not? since ive recently gotten back into atari (and LOVE the aa store) theres alot i would have enjoyed being able to buy, but unfortunately theyre out of print.
  14. pardon my ignorance but im fairly new to this board and only started playing atari again recently. ive seen this name many times on these boards, usually preceded by derision and i was just curious as to what its all about.
  15. ive been eyeballing this game for awhile and have been unable to find any reviews online. i bit the bullet and ordered it and i'm curious to know what im in for.
  16. did the power ever go out as you were just about to get a high score? spiteful sibling turn off the console just as you were about to beat the last boss? share your awful gaming related horror stories.
  17. id rather support this site and users thereof, when possible. ill contact him first.
  18. wow, are those legit? is gdg reputable? i am so far out of the loop.
  19. damn i have the exact same problem with my 7800 ( broken pin). the only 2 button 7800 game i own is double dragon but its irritating that i cant play it. (dont ask why i would want to lol). i have ZERO mechanical skills. would it be cheaper for me to buy a replacement than have someone try to repair it?
