  1. Not going to make any promises here but I will look into the possibilities Originally the story is actually really dark, but I'm afraid that will be mainly told on the Jaguar in the sequel. Not sure how much of that will be possible on the Lynx
  2. Just to be clear... I'm hijacking the Delivery Parcel Thief game! Gave it a bunch of thought and this looks like a fun project
  3. Because I use a specific compiler with a specific template that was not made for 512kb ROM. It's not that straightforward (at least not to me) to update this. I've tried this in the past and failed miserably. Good luck with that the nightmare code is what made me stay away for years from the enging
  4. You can enter the photoshoot competitions that CD Projekt promotes on Twitter I guess it really depends on play style... I've spent the past 2 years playing the game in bursts, with most of the time just exploring without doing much other than watching some nice graphics while listening to music (not the ingame music btw, my own playlists) and trashing some mobs. I still think the world building is amazing overall, but it lacks that interactive component that pretty much all open world games lack as stated already I really wish they would just add some proper oldskool arcade games in there so you have some reason to return.. now its only 1 arcade game afaik.
  5. I had a look to see how much it would take to port the original code to a newer template and quickly closed my editor once I saw the hexadecimal nightmare I created in the memory layout again. Everything that you would flag for improvements have been done for good memory reasons in the past.. the background is scaled up for example to allow it in memory within the battle module. In retrospect, maybe some loading/unloading of sprite data while rendering the scene could overcome this issue (never tried this), but then there is the hard limit of the 256kb ROM size to which I'm very close to already in the original state. My aim is to first create the story/maps/sprites and then see if I can make graphics/sfx and other improvements.
  6. This is really great to read! FF6 is my all-time favorite and the others on the list are amazing as well. I could also suggest Tactics Ogre, together with FF6 are my corner stones for endless inspiration; they recently did a new release (Tactics Ogre Reborn) which is available on all platforms these days. Thanks for the excitement everyone! I'm looking forward to share more details on this project. With the years of experience I feel like its all much more manageable this time around.
  7. The early Final Fantasy games are some of my all time favorites. In terms of scope for the Lynx, I use the early Dragon Quest games as inspiration
  8. Coincidentally, there is another announcement here

  10. Greetings fellow Atarians! Today marks exactly 10 years since I announced Wyvern Tales for the Atari Lynx! The development took much longer than anticipated and due to hardware constraints the final game was shorter than I envisioned. As a result, the original story that I was planning never made it into the original game and I had to cut a lot of corners to create the final game. I am here to announce the official prequel, Wyvern Tales Gaiden! This game will be more story focused than the previous entry and will focus events leading up to the original Wyvern Tales. I'm planning to reuse the original engine with minor tweaks and hopefully it'll take much less time to complete than the previous entry. Thank you for your attention! Ninjabba
  11. I am here to announce the official sequel, Wyvern Tales 2! A classic turn-based JRPG for the Atari Jaguar! This will tell the full story that started 10 years ago and will be exclusive to the Jaguar. Together with Phoboz and Eternal-Krauser we have started this project around January and will show progress on this thread. We are building on top of the engine that Phoboz created for Kings of Edom. We do realize that the scope of this project is huge and will take some years before completion, but so far it's been a great experience. The knowledge that both Phoboz and Eternal-Krauser bring to the project from their past experiences makes development much more enjoyable and feasible. Thank you for your attention! Ninjabba
  12. I honestly don't know what you millenials have been up to lately.. I'll leave that challenge for someone else
  13. Probably related to the fall of FTX wiping out ~$billions worth (!!!!) of digital assets within a week.. cryptobros at it again Still $30k above the real value though
  14. Barely survived my first 24 hours in Tokyo, but it was glorious 😄 Great to see the packages arriving! It was a lot of fun working on this project
  15. Ohhh that's a shame... I was wondering about that picture
  16. Feels like its worth the shot now that you're that close.. but where can we find a cluster of Lynx players that big..?
  17. We did a few rounds of playtesting of LynxBlast by Sage at RGC2022. It's my second time to play this game which is made for multiplayer over comlynx. Initially we tried to hook up 7 devices, but due to faulty cables we were limited to 6 people "only" it worked like a charm! See the results here: Thanks @sage for making this happen! Hope to see that release some day soon
  18. @Fadest it was great to meet in person at RGC! Hope to be there again next year!
  19. Thanks for this! Really excited to dig through these protos!
  20. Hi James, thanks for the update the demo binary link is wrong though, it can point to the itch.io page
  21. Made it through the week! Those last two houses were my only subscribers for days in a row 😅
  22. I can't confirm this but I can imagine that certain newer games on the PS4 require the OS to be at a certain version, the same was true on the PSP but interestingly enough the OS updates came with the games themselves. Other than that, the PS4 can definitely be enjoyed offline.
