  1. holy crap CLOCK!!!!!!!! how have you been?!
  2. Oh, no actually I was really thinking more on the lines of online multiplayer servers going down and didn't think much about subscription based or your example. And again, until Microsoft presents the FACTS, I'm not gonna wonder.
  3. I'm somewhat excited. As of now, I don't think there will be any release games of franchises I enjoy like Halo or Gears, so that kinda keeps me in check. But I am interested in all of the non gaming features that I know about so far. I'll probably preorder one from Bestbuy and when it shows up, it shows up. A little less ambitious than I was 8 years ago to wait in line
  4. Ah, so you see subscription based gaming. Ya know, with everything else going subscription based, it seems logical. I may be too old to care at that point
  5. Most of this I agree with. Although, I don't quite see an expiration date. I have tried making the point before that cheap games are no replacement for more robust games. Losing an online element has happened already so you may be correct. Time will tell.
  6. What information? Everyone is up in arms about the used games issue, yet I'm reading the same stuff as you and still don't know how it's going to work. Gamestop, who would be hurt the most business wise, is all for it. Yet even they have no idea how it's going to work. Please tell me, how do you? How do you know you will be charged 2 times for a used game? I need a link for this. Are you saying Mario 14 now used is $xx but Mario 15 will be $xx+$xx to activate? Or are you saying you pay $xx for Mario 15 and then another $xx for Mario 15 again so it can be played? Or are you saying you need to buy Mario 15 from Ebay or AA used for $xx and you get it and can't play it until you spend more money? Are you saying Mario 15 can only be bought new? I can see why you are up in arms about it with all that info. Internet connection a problem? How exactly do you post on this forum? Who cares if it's never been done before? Some chick had to be the first to get boob implants. Kinect? Never liked it, but I don't like working on Section 8 housing busting my ass all day, just to watch everyone there sit around all day with nice clothes and cool cars from my taxes I pay. It's a drawback to my decisions but I still sleep ok at night.Things kinda work out like that. So many entertainment options on a console? MS has been saying for 10 years they wanna be the center of the living room. It's clearly been seen with the 360. Where have you guys been? It is silly though, I mean smartphones are a flop. MS should have paid more attention. Convergence devices=fail. Did you really expect a cartridge based system with wired controllers, memory cards and a killer s video connection? Move up a few forums for that. 1984? Correct. Oddly, it seems everything is heading that way. I need my phone, I need the internet, and I need to step out of my house. At no point do I feel that I have privacy. This is what it is. I can sit around and moan about it, or I can adapt and deal with the change. I don't like it, but I don't make the rules. Backlash? As I pointed out, what doesn't have backlash? There is no way ever to keep everyone happy. Go with it, or walk away. You know EA, the company that ranks so high on list for crappy corporations? They have tons of backlash from all over the globe. Somehow, they still sell bucketloads of games year after year. Successful people and businesses stay focused on the goal, not the obstacles. A $60 Android game that cannot be resold is ok (your words, digital) but if you can display a $60 game for everyone to see on your shelf you should be able to resell it? Do you not own both? Technically, you don't own either. You have the right to the license of the software. In any case, MS has stated games could be traded. I can't trade my Android games. What if..........MS has determined a way to satisfy gamers, Gamestop, publishers and developers? Kind of like how Apple did with itunes? Nah, you're right. Right? My analogy works well. 3 different companies to find fault with and blame somehow no matter what. I bought it, I own it, why should anything cost extra ( a post here even included internet as an additional cost). A part that is old doesn't work with something new (backwards compatibility) uniformed consumers will get screwed (when MS announced 2 SKUs for the 360, it was predicted on this very forum there would be so much confusion, it was awful. Notice Nintendo and Sony both offer multiple SKUs now?) and I as a consumer, always know better than someone offering a service or goods. I was really trying to fit it with you guys. Honestly. Consumers always know what they want. Please, please, shoot apple an email telling them the ipod and itunes or the iphone were mistakes. Do you think I was right when I said nobody would by the wii? Often, these big bad evil companies make some great decisions about stuff nobody ever thought they wanted. Having the balls to take risks is what keeps this world in motion. I did not tell anyone to stop bitching. As you see, I enjoy bitching as much as anyone else. I don't find it necessary to start threads daily about the horrors of video games or evil companies or how the good old days were super duper. I really can't find reason to complain about things I don't understand. But I do know I like video games. I'll go stand in the corner now just being a little-dicked hypocritical bitcher.
  7. You do see the point of it all. Of course there's nobody dumb enough to act like that with cars. When you buy a car, it's there for you to understand, you know what cost will come along, features and shortcomings and bitch. Unless you buy sight unseen, then you roll the dice. But in this thread and a few others, apparently having pretty much no information is more than enough to totally understand what you are buying and bitch. To not be rude, I won't quote examples. Let me just say that I am on quite a few forums that are interest specific: cars, bikes, games, stuff like that. Using cars for example, a Corvette forum I am on is full of whack jobs. Same with a Mopar forum, a flatland forum, and here. It's obvious that people get so wrapped up in these interests that they all become "experts" and are more intelligent than multi billion dollar companies with huge workforces, ahem "average" consumers and most other forum members. Bigger dick syndrome takes effect and well we know where that goes. In every case that a new product is introduced, it's ugly, too expensive, not as good as before. These "experts" always know best. It's annoying. It's not discussing, it's a sandinmyvaginafest. These "experts" are the "average" consumer. They may have more behind the scenes info, but they sure as shit are purchasing the same product as those that are "inferior" to them. I'd bet both my nuts that 90% of the people that post in modern gaming section here go to gamestop, just the same as the "average" consumer. How many here buy from itunes? Steam? Android marketplace? How many of those things did you buy used? Wait, you can't, but it's cheap so who cares? Cheap sums it up. Obviously, as sales and popularity show, not being able to buy used media isn't the issue.Apple products sell well consistantly, so locked down, company control isn't the issue. It's the price. And that's what we've settled for - the lowest common denominator for everything. You know that dude that got fired from MS for his twitter stuff? I thought it was funny, I read it as sarcasm. The best part was the bit about people that don't have internet and he basically said who cares. He was right. The majority should be considered more than the minority. That's evolution. I don't speculate. Last time I did, I said "who the fuck would buy the wii?!" MS has done some crazy ass dumb stuff. I've enjoyed both systems from them. I'll be on board for the Xbone. I'm interested in seeing where things go instead of wishing they'd always be the same. As with most everything, I'll take the good stuff and enjoy it and figure out the concessions as I go. Seriously though, some of you are completely fucked up drama queens.
  8. So get this..... In 1997 I bought a new car. A Pontiac Trans Am. I got it for $26000 out the door. It was cutting edge for its time in that segment and I wanted one. After driving for a week, I ran out of gas. So I called Pontiac and asked them "I need gas when can you get it to me?" and the lady seemed miffed and replied "Sir, we don't supply the gas. You buy that yourself" I was speechless. Nobody told me that gas was an extra. So a nice guy helps me push it to a gas station and we started shooting the shit. He had asked how much my insurance was, how often I'd change the oil and commented that the tires look like they would be expensive to replace. Damnit, I just spent $26000 on this, that stuff all included for free. He looked at me like I was an idiot. After some research, I found out that all of this stuff wasn't included in my $26000 price!! WTF?! To add insult to injury, the thing had air conditioning and freakin power door locks. I didn't ask for that and I really didn't appreciate it being pushed on me. That was it for me, no more new cars. Screw GM. Liars. They lost a customer over this because they were out of their minds. They had no idea what their customers wanted. Gas Insurance Tires Oil Wax Water Brakes That all adds up and I didn't ever use my insurance. What a ripoff. I get a nice Jeep Grand Cherokee USED. Thing had all kinds of stuff I didn't ask for but it was cheaper. Screw that fancy brand new stuff it's too expensive and I didn't like where they were going with air bags and big wheels. Nobody wants that crap.Anyways, about 2 months after I got it, my transmission was acting up. So I called the dealer I bought it from and asked when they give me a new transmission. Guy puts me on hold and says bring it in Tuesday. So I drive there Tuesday and he says it will be done in 4 hours and will cost $2000!!!!! I said "Are you crazy, this thing is old, and you want too much. I'm just a driver not someone who loves cars. It people like you who screw up everything for me. I have this old transmission somebody gave me years ago from a Wrangler, put it in. He kinda laughed and told me this old transmission wouldn't work in a newer Jeep. WTF butthole, they are both Jeeps!! Why can't this 15 year old one work in this Jeep too? He kinda thought I was an idiot too. After he explained to me that the parts have changed and didn't work together after so many years, I was mad but got it done anyways. Screw them though. The bill said parts were like $1200 and labor was $800!!! Greedy. Thats all I can say is greedy. At least they also, free of charge, told me that my satellite radio didn't work because I didn't subscribe to it. Subscribe? Umm, I bought the car, why do I have to subscribe to get satellite radio?! Nickle and diming me all the time. I'm done with Jeep. That was it for me. I'm done with cars. I just walk. Some people call me Forest Gump but who cares. I'm making a stand against these greedy companies and businesses. Force it on the stupid people, get the suckers to pay for all that extra crap that should be free. They don't even care about the poor that can't afford cars. They make too much on them and should just give cars away anyways. I mean, I don't just randomly give away money I earn, but they make WAY more than me so they should.I showed them all. So....... I get this pair of Nikes.........screw Nike!!!! You know what happened with those overpriced shoes?! Let me tell you........
  9. They had already said last week that games would be shown at E3 and not so much at this event. I'm in for one because there will be some Halo
  10. Kinda douchey but still not seeing how it can be implemented. Then again, who cares because basically majority rules when it comes to this stuff. I'm wondering if it's along the lines that a profile (online/offline) will need to be signed in to start a game or apps? That would make sense and work.
  11. Late to the party, and I'm sure nobody missed me. While my personal list may not be the traditional definition of "franchise", these need to rest and are still applicable: 1. Online blogs complaining about the awful state of video games 2. Online videos complaining about the awful state of video games 3. Online discussions about the awful state of video games 4. Online news stories daily about the awful state of video games 5. Anything related to how bad video games suck all the time, any system, no matter popularity or sales, price, graphics, developer, publisher, or time to complete. These franchises would be a welcome return: 1. Online discussions about how awesome video games are 2. Online blogs about the variety of awesome video games 3. Online videos showing awesome video games 4. Online news stories every day about the awesomeness that is video games 5. Anything related to how awesome video games have been and will be no matter who makes it, publishes it, how it looks, what it costs, how many people like it, and how enjoyable it is even if only for a few short hours.
  12. While I agree with what you are getting at, it is supposed to be a game system first according to Nintendo. And it has no game support. From anywhere. Sure, sure, it's too early to tell, most systems don't have great games at first, etc, etc. But this things got less support than a EEE bra made of 2 socks and a shoestring* The only thing I can think of is that Nintendo had zero momentum going into the the wii U release. Technically, the wii really only sold well for about half of it's lifespan and for the past almost 2 1/2 years had month after month of declining sales. The 360, for example, has had steady sales and the most overall sales month after month for what is it, like 26+ months now. The PS3 has been doing pretty well for the last couple years as well. People were already losing interest in what Nintendo had on the market and I'm sure the overall crappy games available for the wii for the last 2 years didn't help. Combine that with snubbing online games and online social interaction for the last 8+ years, they have given no reason to be compelling aside from a few A+ Nintendo first party games and funky control ideas. Does anyone NOT see the lack of vision in the online aspect? I mean, you sell a gazillion wii systems, have a huge consumer base that could have potentially gone online and been a great carryover for the wii U. Instead, they now have the crappiest online infrastructure that can't even compare to stuff almost a decade old. Miiverse might end up huge, but now Nintendo has to get people to join socially, whereas MS and Sony have millions and millions already onboard. It's an uphill battle and striving to "be different" didn't have to come down to ignoring the future and it's possibilities. Like or not, online games and social interaction has been the future for quite a few years now. With the speed that everything evolves now, it appears, in many different markets, that lack of foresight puts you at the back of the bus. MS and Sony could not release new systems at this point for another few years and I still don't think that would improve wii U sales. I admire Nintendo for trying to remain a simple nostalgic company that tries to make new directions but it would behoove** them to not dismiss the market they are part of. * Attempt to get topic back to boobs ** I used behoove because it's a cool word.
  13. Not sure I believe you. See, boobs are like pizza, even when they aren't that great, they are still great. Realistically, whatever ones I can latch on to at any given time, would be the best in the world.
  14. The biggest issue with the wii u is What is the point of it? Is it a game system? Is it a tablet? Is it a multimedia device? Is it motion control based? Touch screen based? Traditional control based? I don't even recall Nintendo committing to an answer to any of those questions. It's possible that the goal was to achieve the same success Apple did with the ipad. A device that you kinda scratched your head and wondered why do I want this but after maybe a month and some great apps, you did want it. The wii u doesn't appear to have any clear definition of why anyone should want it. There is no hype. Nintendo had very little advertisement for it, and as much as I feel Reggie is a douche, he did no promotion on it whereas for the wii, he wouldn't shut up. It's as if Nintendo just said "Piss on it, we need to replace the wii now". They obviously put thought into it and have to have some sort of direction and some ambitious ideas but it's pretty bad that Sony had a press conference about the PS4 that basically said not much about lots of stuff and you at least know what the PS4 is about. Good thing is, it doesn't matter. We have all the room in the world for tablets, phones, ios, Android, PC, Macs, Steambox, Ps4, Xbox3, 3ds, Vita, small boobs, big boobs, etc. None of them can be the best, but all of them have their place. Except the boobs, bigger is better.
  15. It's all good. You never were good at the sarcasm but it's nice seeing you active again.
  16. Rootkit, expense, removing features are a few reasons. Others could be outperforming Nintendo for a long stretch and unwarranted blame for destroying Sega. Some would say arrogance. I have no issue with them generally, but it's still fun to pick on them for such an underwhelming PS3 experience, the network getting hacked, and just horrible slow firmware upgrades (or downgrades in some cases). There's always the Jedi view of the Sith - only deal in absolutes. We have that here quite a bit.
  17. thanks remo i also just read that the ps4 will be 4k enabled even though no media will be for a while. That is interesting to me and i hope it is supported at some point.
  18. Of course. Easy target. I did make fun of Sony too if that makes you calmer. My lack of emoticons is somewhat disturbing I suppose. Play nice. This whole thread has had so much sarcasm and you seemed to have missed most of it.
  19. They may have held this event too early in some aspects because it did raise more questions. On the other hand, intrigue does generate buzz. I am going to assume that streaming is going to be important for more than just one reason. Backwards compatibility is probably one, but Sony has done a good job on the PS3 for day 1 release games being available from PSN to download which I welcome as an option. I would be very happy with a system that wouldn't require physical media. My doubts are if Sony could have a safe and capable network to do it Edit: It does have a blu ray drive.
