Don't forget Cotton - for whatever reason it is so expensive. Bonk 3 is expensive too but I can't remember if it's the HuCard or CD one that is. I have followed the TG since day one so I have quite a bit of knowledge about it. In my opinion, it is still one of the best systems ever. Any game from working designs is awesome too.

Funny this came up. I was just talking to my parents about the costs of my 2600 and 5200 that they had bought me for Christmas. the 2600 was right around $150 and the 5200 was $200. I still have the Hills price tag on my 5200 box. I asked if that was a lot of $$ back then and my mom told me that my dad worked overtime for 5 days a week for 4 months plus used all the money they had put in a Christmas club just to get the 5200. So yea, it was quite expensive to get either one back then. The thing that still amazes me is games have always been right around $50 - even today.

Model 2's have the round buttons and the red led light is in a different place on the model 2. The model 1's had bad problems with just dying. The power light would be on but the drive would not work at all and almost all of the time, it would just quit all of a sudden. As for modding, I am pretty sure that the model 1's were easier to mod at that time because the 2nd version was pretty much totally revised because of the faulty drives.

Also, the reset button will cause major interferance. I have had quite a few CV's and 50% of them had fuzzy pics and most of the time it was the reset button. I have no idea why, but it has been the case. Try holding it down a little when the screen is fuzzy and see what happens.

No problem. If you can get 2 xboxs, that's the way to go. If you have enough friends to play all the time, it's fun. And yea, Counter Strike is coming.

Yea, you have to have 3 copies(in my case). I actually had a Halo that wouldn't link with my original copy. I called MS and they sent me another one for free within 3 days Getting 3 copies of a game isn't too bad if you get it used/ on sale, it's the controllers that will cost you......

Well, I am looking for the 5200 version. I remember seeing some on Ebay over the past yr that went for quite a bit. But, I never have been able to find it yet.

I use a hub to hook all 3 of mine together. For just 2, you don't need a hub.

Yup, depending on the game, you could have 8 players at once. I have 3 hooked up so I could have 12 player Halo.......if I had about 6 more friends

Yea, that's a pretty decent list. I would say Devil May Cry, Contra, and maybe Ico are about the only killer games on the PS2. Oh and Red Faction 2. Yea, I am picky but if all of the console makers release new systems say every 5 yrs, they all claim that games are better, graphics are better, blah, blah, blah. Well, I for one expect that - in all areas including gameplay, graphics, sound.............Believe me, graphics aren't all I care about. One of my all time favs is WCW NWO World tour for the Nintendo 64. Looks like shit, but plays awesome. Now , JSRF for the Xbox looks awesome, plays awesome, has killer music so why shouldn't I be able to have that in all of my games? I mean, why do corners have to be cut? As long as people buy crap, they'll make crap. It's not the console manufactures faults, but I kinda like how MS has a guideline setup for all developers now. They don't want crap made for the system. Not saying it won't happen, but it is a step in the right direction. Hell, Halo was a release game over a yr ago and it is still amazing but some of the new games blow it away. That's the way it should be. Sony doesn't care what's made or how good it is and it shows. And nobody can deny that.

I've had mine for a yr and it really has never played movies too well. everything else is ok I guess but I do have games freeze up. But, I don't really use it that much - I'm always playing the Xbox. Screw it, get one and just return it to the store every 29 days That way, you'll always have a new one. And to be honest, I'm sure there are good ones. Just get an Xbox You won't be missing much buy not having a PS2

Vidgameking, Try a 30 day warranty on the PS2. I know of about 7 friends who have/had defective ones. I guess that's to be expected but the problem is, Sony won't even offer anything to help you out. Pay the $100 and they'll fix it. Or you can do what my friends all did. Go buy another one, swap cases with the bad one - so the serial # will be the one on your receipt - and take it back to the store Or, get an Xbox

I had one of the 1st ps models and I actually had to turn it upside down to play games . I'm so glad Sony makes such reliable products......

I'd have to say that if you are looking for complete, boxed games then Planet Smashers, Tank Command, Rampage, and Pete Rose. Pete rose is usually easy to get loose and the same with Rampage.

Nope - she's played a ton of games. In fact, I have to go get her Shenmue 2 next week. JSRF is her favorite game but when we play some Halo deathmatches, she can hold her own. What sucks is having to buy her games out of my game fund....

My girlfriend beat it ( the game! sickos) a few months ago. The ending wasn't very spectacular but it did take some time. I personaly didn't care for the game, but she loved it. She said it was one of the most fun games she played.

I was pointing out that my game likes/dislikes and comparisons are very widespread. Yea I do look very close. They are hooked up with high def pack, composite, s video. Never see em. Which kinda reminds me - PS2 can't support high def games either. We can go on and on and really I don't mind. I kinda like good debates.
