  2. Great video. However I was really hoping that there would be "ADoom 1.0" available one day. Still no guns/weapons.. To me weapons are a key element of any Doom port. So maybe one more year
  3. The increased frame rate is immediately noticeable. Very well done!
  4. So max horizontal resolution would be 352. What is the meaning of the second parameter? 176? Mode E? Wouldn't there be a need to differntiate for PAL and NTSC too? I guess this would be for vertical resolution. PAL: MAX H: ? MAX V: ? NTSC: MAX H: ? MAX V: ?
  5. Hi everyone, it seems like "overscan" is one of the features of the Atari 800/XL/XE platform that is pretty underappreciated. I can only speak for my self. But I think it's the one pretty unique feature that I was not really aware of. In retrospect as an Atari 8bit owner I never had thoughts like "opening the borders" or "fullscreen". I simply used the TV/monitor as it was and didn't spend much thoughts. A few years ago I repaired an old Atari ST. Since then I'm using it from time to time. I really like the simplicity of this "early" 16-bit machine. I.e. it has a lot of nice games, but almost all of them are on strict fixed resolution: 320x200 and/or 640x200. To me this is a big disadvantage, because the usable "screen real estate" is much smaller than I was used to on the 8bit. On the 800/XL/XE you could max out the visible area of your PAL / NTSC monitor. There was no "hard" fixed screen area. It was no problem to put e.g. a player/missile object somewhere on the screen. You need one more text line for e.g. scores/levels etc ? -> No problem, simply define it using the ANTIC display list. Increase the resolution from 320x192 to e.g. 320x210 ? No problem, rewrite the display list. It's funny that it needed me so long to fully understand that. One reason must be, that I moved from the 130XE to an Amiga 500 in the early 90s. Again, no problem with overscan. There was even a nice simple utility in Workbench/Kickstart that helped me to adjust the visible screen area and adjust the "resolution" to whatever my TV/monitor was able to show. Since I'm using the Atari ST with an OSSC HDMI upscaler I had a lot of issues to get rid of these "mourning black borders". I finally found some good settings. But it was very hard. Something that I had no issues with the 130XE on the very same setup (VBXE, same OSSC, same HDMI Monitor). Yes a few later ST games and especially the demoscene later found ways to overcome the ST border restrictions. But it is very complicated by comparison to the 800/XL/XE. So many thanks to the Atari developers. Overscan is a great feature that many other computers of that era were missing.
  6. I can only agree with the others. This simulation is really very impressive and possibly even the best of its kind currently on the XL/XE. I wonder if it is possible to add day/night support to the game? It would also be nice to see the sun. (Sun is AFAIK in F15 strike eagle).
  7. This is huge. In the end, this is the only real way to fully preserve the actual outcome & spirit of a demoparty/event. I usually organize the executable demos&intros - but I almost always loose gfx and msx contributions because they are typically too different or need somehow additional tools to load. Well Done Jac! Really well done.
  8. Looks good to me .. Release it now
  9. Meanwhile I can confirm that Atari Basketball (400/800) is nice co-op game. I played it this afternoon with my son and we won against the Atari and also had sometimes quite some close matches. So despite the simplistic graphics, there is still something in that game that I would say makes it quite lovely.
  10. Adding: * Atari Basketball (400/800) * Bruce Lee - Return of Fury Air Rescue I (Microprose) Asteroids Atari Basketball (400/800) (2player vs. 2computer) Bacterion! 11. Atari Basketball (400/800) is a very good find! Thank you very much!!! Can you be more specific what 5200 version is supporting the 2player vs. 2computers? It seems like the 5200 unreleased prototype is in fact only 1p/1c vs. 2p/2c. So unfortunately unlike the 400/800 Atari Basketball it is no Co-Op game 😞
  12. Adding Space Dungeon (Atari) 5200 Conversion (Great game btw!!) Air Rescue I (Microprose) Asteroids Bacterion! Bruce Lee Cavelord (2nd player is gunner) Crystal Raiders (2nd player control jumping) Cyborg Warriors Dandy Dark Chambers Diamond Mine (Roklan) (Friendly Mode) Dropzone (2nd player controls smartbomb, cloak) Gauntlet Ghost Hunter Joust Mario Bros. 13. This is massive. I never thought that one day we would see a decent version of Bubble Bobble on Atari XL/XE. Another "Strike! Better late than never!"-moment for me (and remembering all my Amiga and C64 friends from school *g) I only wish we had all these wonderful commercial games (Stunt Car, Prince of Persion, Bubble Bobble, Bomb Jake, Bosconian and many more) back in the day.
  14. I hate myself commenting that I really would like to see a 130XE version of this demo. I guess the 1MB requirement is simply because of interrupt-free presentation which is awesome! Especially the music changes and transitions are wonderful. However it would be also nice to have this demo running with max compatiblity with standard systems and still make use of better memory configs for better presentation. I for myself have a VBXE 512kB RAM system, but unfortunately no 1MB config. My penalty should be a "commercial break" to load the other part .. More "commerical breaks" on the standard 130XE of course
  15. Adding Storm (Mastertronic) Air Rescue I (Microprose) Asteroids Bacterion! Bruce Lee Cavelord (2nd player is gunner) Crystal Raiders (2nd player control jumping) Cyborg Warriors Dandy Dark Chambers Diamond Mine (Roklan) (Friendly Mode) Dropzone (2nd player controls smartbomb, cloak) Gauntlet Ghost Hunter Joust Mario Bros.
