Balloon Kid (GB) I really had no idea how great this game was going to be when I bought it, I just wanted something for my Game Boy and knew this was supposed to be decent. Apparently, it's actually a sequel to an NES game called Balloon Fight. Midway Arcade Hits (N64) I knew absolutely nothing about this collection other than that it had Robotron and Joust, which seemed like a good buy in my book. This is now one of the few games I will never sell, partly due to several excellent memories of waking up early and playing Defender and Robotron.

I'm in for sure! This was a lot of fun on Pole Position, and doing it on multiple games sounds like a cool idea.

I very briefly considered getting a 3DS sometime, but the more I hear about it the more I don't like it. At this point Nintendo is going to have to perform some serious magic to convince me that this thing is anything more than Virtual Boy 2.0.

I got my first one in early 2008, but it was broken. I didn't get a working one until later that year. It worked for about 2 years, getting slowly more and more problematic until it croaked. I wish there was some way to play 2600 games on actual hardware without having to worry about reliability. 7800 is probably the best bet (being the newest), but I'm really hesitant to buy another old Atari system considering my 6 broken 2600s and the 5200 with totally busted controllers.

Oh heck, I'll join. I just hope I don't end up having to buy Disgaea 4, or something.

I got my highest score ever today, thanks largely to my clearing 86% on screen 1.

BTW, I think it's worth telling you guys that the next round is going to be Phantasy Star (not a common game), so if you don't own it now is the time to get it. It's available on GBA, Wii, PS3, X360, and PSP as well.

I've had the exact same problem as you with multiple 2600s. These things are just old, and it's starting to show. I stick to using Stella on my PC now.

I think that by worthless they meant least relevant, meaning that it's basically a list of the biggest flops around. And everyone knows that Lynx was a flop, no matter what way you slice it. Besides, freaking out and rageposting on a forum because someone on the internet said bad things about something you like is the ultimate example of immaturity and arrogance.

Once your letters are full and you've gotten into the van enough, you're basically invincible, provided you stay on the road. You'll know when the car starts flashing. Go just fast enough that the motorcycles don't whiz past you but the cars are still keeping up, and blast away. You can smack the motorcycles and knock them off the road when you're in bike form, then cars when you're in car form. Shooting is the best way to get anything done. Bullets are completely useless, once you get missiles you're set, but better not die (which is nigh impossible due to the cheap deaths in this game) and keep them. The shooting phase is incredibly difficult on the first mission. If you don't have missiles, don't shoot anything that isn't the small one-shot jets because you're going to get hit trying. Just bomb stuff until the submarines. The shooting part takes FOREVER and you'll probably die a ton. This game is a clone of Spy Hunter with added details -- as long as that clock is tickin', you have free lives to burn, so try not to die and keep it running but don't die too frequently. It's when it lists lives left you have to start worrying. I still haven't beat the first mission but came within 1 bomb of the last submarine. What, no 3DS version either? As much as I don't like this game (and that's saying something considering what a huge Sonic fan I am), plenty of other people seem to, and it would give 3DS owners something worth sinking their teeth into. Also, I heard someone say that Generations has no "3rd person, free-roaming, 3D BS". Actually, it does (sort of). Modern Sonic plays just like he did in Unleashed/Colours, so his stages are equal parts 2D/3D gameplay. Only Classic Sonic is totally sidescrolling.

My older brother was just telling me today how much he hates Valkyria Chronicles. According to him, the battle system is stupid as heck, the story is completely idiotic, and the difficulty spike that occurs once you pass the first few missions is so ridiculous that he stopped playing and has never touched it since (he mentioned a tank being the biggest issue). And he's actually pretty good at RPGs.
