  1. No, I looked around for it, but didn't see anything else that should have been with it.
  2. This sounds like a place that needs badly to learn the ways of the bidcase, if only to show them how much things don't sell for in the Real World. So how does the bidcase work? I don't think any of the stores near me work this way. One of my stores takes anything they think MIGHT be worth something and puts it in the case with an outrageous price on it. Every week they knock a little bit off the price until it finally sells. Aside from some of their initial prices that can be really ridiculous, I think it's a smart system for the store. As a buyer it can be frustrating waiting for something to come down to a reasonable price, knowing someone else is probably watching the same item.
  3. Nice find on the Crazy Climber, plaidbrad! Had a few decent finds over the weekend. 1942 for NES - $3.00 Nights into Dreams for Saturn - $5, Unfortunately no 3D controller to be found Smurfs Save the Day for 2600 - $5, The label is pretty thrashed on this one, but for 5 bucks I can't complain.
  4. It's a good thing that's 10 separately tiled photos. I'd hate to think the universe ends because a 2800 decided to do some time traveling and met up with itself.
  5. Weird, I was trying to edit my first post and managed to quote myself in a new 2nd post. Anyway, I found this thread that indicates they were boxed.
  6. I believe that the Vader model my family got for Christmas '83 had a picture label Combat and Pac-Man as the pack-in games. I don't have any of my original game boxes, but I do recall a Pac-Man box around the house for awhile. I can't say for sure about the Combat box though.
  7. Oh yeah, I didn't think of Berzerk! It's also pretty harsh when you get shot by a robot at close range, and then that sadistic bastard keeps pumping round after round into your corpse until the game resets.
  8. RegalSin, if you're gonna come in here and talk smack to the programmers you'd better at the VERY least be warm to BASIC and have a hook-up at Kinkos.
  9. Space Invaders cannon + Chicken from Freeway = Phoenix Ship
  10. The frying sound coupled with your skeleton flashing inside you is pretty good in Space Cavern.
  11. Now I'm not saying his intentions are anything less than wholesome, but based on this post . . .
  12. Having a game be complete is nice, but I don't place that much importance on it. I like finding most of my stuff in the wild so I kind of just have to take it as it comes. Given the choice I'll take more complete over loose, but only if the price is reasonable. Ultimately I just want to play the games. I probably have fewer than 75 CIB games. I doubt I'll get rid of the boxes I have, but I don't see myself buying a boxed copy at collector prices just to replace a loose game.

    5200 Story

I wasn't even aware of the existence of the 5200 until well after its commercial lifespan ended so I don't have any personal "back in the day" experiences to go from. Was backwards compatibility REALLY an issue then? Sure there's the 7800, but I didn't think people really started expecting a system to be backwards compatible until after the PS2 came out.
  14. I don't have a Jag, but ignorantly passed on a really nice set-up about 5 years ago. At the time I was only interested in the 2600 and didn't know nearly as much about the Atari scene. At a small fleamarket I found a Jaguar system w/ hook-ups, 2 controllers, CD unit, memory cartridge, 5 or so cartridge games, and around 5 CD games. The price? $60. I wasn't making the greatest money at the time, and was afraid the CD unit would be dead so I passed. I thought about it over the week and decided to go see if it was still there the next weekend. The lady said she'd sold it last week. About that time a guy walked up and she told me that he was the one that bought it. He and I talked a little bit and he said that the Jag CD had worked fine. Evidently he has quite a bit of Jag stuff. I wonder if he's ever on these boards?
  15. Dammit Big Player, stop having a sense of humor!!!! There's been too much fun going on around here! :x
  16. Hey zonaps2, those are pretty good representations! Sometimes the requests are more like, "Well you're a spaceship, or a plane, actually it could have been a boat. And you're supposed to kill or possibly rescue these other things, eels maybe?" :D Your English is fine. You do a far better job with a 2nd language than most of us gringos. I know there are a few other folks on here from Uruguay, so one of them might be able to help you out if you end up looking for another Atari.
  17. I think you could do better, although it's not completely off the deep end for a nice boxed system. If you just want a system to play and don't care about the box you can certainly get a cheaper one.
  18. Yeah, play with channel selections for color. Did the guy claim it was completely tested and working, including the controllers? Pretty much any 5200 controller you get, unless it's been cleaned very recently or rebuilt is going to have issues. If he misrepresented it you should hit him up for a partial refund and put that money towards a rebuild kit for the joysticks.
  19. Agreed, I'd also like to see what you're working on!
  20. Neat project! How robust does it feel? If you're looking for portability you might also check into the Amiga Power Sticks.
  21. I believe you meant, "DO NOT WANT!!!"
  22. Nice article. Thanks for posting it. Interesting that U.S. Games was only around for a year and managed to put out 14 games. That's really cranking them out. I knew some of the third-party game developers died quickly, but I guess I never really thought about the timeframe being less than one year.
  23. Here are my recent finds over the last few weeks. Q*Bert for Intellivision - $5. According to DP it's somewhat rare. w/ box and instructions, unfortunately no overlays. Dreadnaught Factor, Space Shuttle, Q*Bert for Atari 5200. $2 each. Taz, Flag Capture, Sears pic Missile Command, Sears pic Pac-Man for 2600. 99¢ each. Wico Command Control for Colecovision, boxed. $5.
