  1. I haven't bought anything yet. I was just trying to figure out about what it might be. I must have screwed up when I was trying to calculate it at Australia's post office site. I don't have any experience with shipping internationally so I'm a little in the dark. Thanks.
  2. Maybe I'm way off base here, but are you trying different carts or the same one each time you power it up. I've got a few games that seem to need cleaned fairly often for them to work.
  3. I was just curious about what I would expect to pay for shipping something from Australia to the U.S. Am I right in assuming it would cost at least $15 (U.S) just to have one cart shipped to me? Would there be any extra import duties, taxes, fees, etc. associated with this? Thanks.
  4. Thanks, for the feedback, guys. I can't say I know the difference between Taito and Midway, but it must be the Midway because it looks like all the other SI arcade games I've seen.
  5. I came across one the other day and was considering purchasing it, but I know next to nothing about arcade cabinets. This one works, and while it's not in perfect shape, it doesn't look beat up either. Opinions appreciated. Thanks.
  6. I'm not sure about hardest, but Space Jockey can't be far from being the easiest. If you lose all your lives in Space Jockey you're either not trying very hard or you're less than 5 years old.
  7. Superomni, I am interested in trading, you have a PM.
  8. Okay, here's another part where I guess I was tricky. This Atari has been modified. The standard cable has been swapped out for a coaxial cable so I'm not using the switch box. Perhaps it's not getting a good connection inside where this new cable is attached.
  9. I should have been more specific about how the picture gets bad. It's not losing power, the game will still go on and you can still play, it just turns to black and white and gets very fuzzy. Once, I waited it out and the picture returned to normal by itself except it would twitch and flicker pretty often. The power supply I'm using seems to work fine if I hook it up to my Vader.
  10. I have the following Intellivision games that I would like to trade for NTSC Atari 2600 carts: Armor Battle Astrosmash Auto Racing B-17 Bomber Backgammon (American Backgammon Players Association) Burgertime Donkey Kong Golf Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack Lock 'n' Chase Major League Baseball NBA Basketball NFL Football Royal Dealer Space Battle Star Strike Tron Deadly Discs Tron Maze-a-Tron All of these are cartridge only. I do not have an Intellivision to determine whether these games work, but I have cleaned them and they look like they are in good shape. If any of them end up not working, I would be glad to work something out to make it right. I'm not looking for any specific 2600 games but there are still several rather common carts I need.
  11. I think someone posted a similar problem to this before but didn't have any luck finding it. I've got a 4-switch woodgrain I recently found at a thriftstore that will work fine for about 10 or 15 minutes and then the picture gets fuzzy and gray. If I turn it off and then back on it's good to go again for awhile. Any electronic geniuses out there with ideas of what might be going on here?
  12. Glad to hear the kids are getting a start in the right direction in life. BTW my 2 year old nephew loves Bowling.
  13. My favorites in no particular order are probably -Missile Command -Yars' Revenge -Combat, if I have a worthy opponent -Ms. Pac-Man -Atlantis -Space Cavern, yes I actually like an Apollo game, it's one of the first games I had as a kid and still like it.
  14. I know how you feel. My wife says the same thing and I've only got two consoles and about 100 games. I try to tell her that a lot of people have way more stuff than I do. To which she replies, "Do you really want to be like those guys?" What kind of question is that? Of course I do! She's not really against my collecting though. I think she's been going to the thrifts looking for Christmas presents for me.
  15. Hey, at least they weren't listed as "ultra rare"
  16. Hammering on them to launch games, eh? Perhaps that's why CPUWIZ has seen so many in bad shape.
  17. I realize they're probably not terribly rare, I'd just never come across one before. I was wondering how often other people see them around.
  18. I recently picked up a boxed one at the Salvation Army. I had never come across one before. I paid maybe a little more for it than I thought I should (I'm a cheapskate) but I'm still pretty happy since it came with 3 games I needed and several manuals, also a postcard to send to M-Network for a free decal.
  19. I don't know if this counts, but..... Once, I was cleaning some new purchases with alcohol and a Q-tip and had that little dust flap thing pushed back. It seemed to be staying open by itself so I looked inside to see if the chip was clean when the cover snapped shut and launched a little piece of black plastic that had broken loose straight into my eye. Cartridge safety rule #1: Treat every cart as if it were loaded.
  20. I usually hit the thrifts looking for Atari stuff on my way home from work. Depending on which route I take I can go to as many as 6, but I don't usually make that many stops. I've got to say that it must really suck to be poor around here because most of their prices on everything are way out of line. $300 for an "as is" 486 with a 15 inch monitor, what a great buy! Hey this ice cube tray looks like the last thing it held was human waste, but it's 25 cents cheaper than the new one I could buy at Wal-Mart. And let's not get started on the pre-owned undergarments. This concludes my thrift store rant.
  21. I had never played the arcade Pac-Man, so at the time, I actually kind of liked the 2600 port. I'm still trying to console myself with the fact that I was a youngster at the time and didn't know any better.
  22. What was your biggest disappointment from the difference between cartridge or box art and the actual game? I grew up on a farm out in the country so that didn't make for many visits to the arcades, and a 2600 was my first exposure to video games. I think my biggest disillusionment was probably Combat. Combat is one of my favorite two player games, but as a kid I used sit and look at the picture on the cartridge and think about how awesome it would be if the game was really like that. Of course, now that there ARE games that are like this it's my Atari that gets the most play. Go figure. Anybody else got any stories?
