  1. Most folks first step is a degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Now they have vga cards for iigs, perhaps these updates should support higher resolutions
  3. Replacing U29 and U30 fixed it.
  4. Well that was a shame. I thought it was going to be about Adventure for VCS not a bunch of ivory tower virtue signalling. That old phrase saying you should never meet your heroes might be true in this case.
  5. I see there are hex inverter in U29 and U30 that buffer the address lines. I will pull the board and try replacing them. I don't think it is a trace problem just because the keys seem to work, they are just spitting out the wrong value on screen.
  6. After playing with it a bit, it is now behaving as if the shift key is pressed, even though it is not. I get " instead of 2 , # instead of 3 etc... Not sure if there is a common fail point I could check. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Was typing along fine. I restarted my Model IV and now they keyboard is acting strange. When I press the 'D' key, I get 'C' on the screen . When I type 'T', I get 'S'. This is all consistent. Could I possibly have done something or do I need to open it up and check connections? Regards, Adam
  8. If you are doing it for nostalgia, then use whatever setup you had back in the day...otherwise, you might find it better to use a cross compile with an emulator. If you are using a Mac, I would recommend Virtual ][
  9. I don't have the expansion module #1. When you plug it in can you use the Atari controllers with Colecovision games or do they just work when you are playing Atari?

  11. Place them in a large bag, remove the oxygen from the bag (like it is food you are freezing for long term storage). Cover in a box with no sunlight exposure. Enjoy!
  12. I use SDLTRS on my Mac. There is a Windows build and the source is available: http://sdltrs.sourceforge.net/download.html
  13. Have you asked him about perhaps doing one?
  14. There was a whole other stink where the 8 bit guy said he never heard of many games when reviewing the C64 mini and said it was a negative. The problem was that the games were in fact well known, but by him not having actually used the machine until well after the C64 had lost its popularity he did not know that. Many people in the comments felt that he should not be giving negative reviews on retro products when he does not know what he is talking about. As the above post stated, his age might explain the "8-bit guy"''s lack of knowledge about things that should be obvious to someone who actually used these machines in the 80's.
  15. I am glad I am not alone in noticing that there is something a little off about the 8bit guy. Not enough to get really pissed about or anything, but the fact that he was not born or really young when the 8 bit computers he is talking about were released might be an explanation for his noob like behavior. For example, when he says that he has never heard the term eaten by a Grue, or that he is interested in playing some game called ADVENTURE for the Atari 2600 because it was featured in the book/movie Ready Player One..... you can not help but think he was nothing more than a fart in the wind in 1978. None of this is a crime, and I could frankly care less, but it is amusing to see how much acting really goes on in these tech channels. I suspect his gun channel and iMac channel were not making enough money and the 8 bit guy just cashed in on the 80s nostalgia thing which is popular now rather than create another 90s Angry Video Nerd Sega/Nintendo/PC fan boy channel which would fit more with his age. I still subscribe to his channel, and overall I find it entertaining, but IMHO ...he is as phony as a 3 dollar bill.
  16. Its a millennial thing. Daughterboard assumes gender.
