my new (old) computer is working now, took out the new cmos battery that I bought for 20 minutes and, boom! it works. must of had some data in there that the bios didn't like, I was using it the night before it stopped working so I knew it was something stupid

  Glad it was a simple fix! I have a few motherboards that won't power up at all if the CMOS battery is dead. I was close to throwing them on the scrap pile before I tried new batteries.
