  1. The power supply was changed a couple of times. My launch 360 Premium has a different PSU from the Premium I bought just before Premiums were retired. I think the PSU was redesigned at the same time that they added the HDMI port to the machine.
  2. If you dig the game, definitely hunt down the PC version. There were three sequels and one spin-off, all of which you could import your characters to. There was a great anthology that came out in the 90s called Forgotten Realms archives that had the full run of games. Dunno what it costs on the used market though. I've had great luck running them all via DOSBox on my Vista machine as well.
  3. I have a full run on Sega hardware now besides the Master System so after that I'd say not much. I have all of Nintendo and Sony's machines, plus both Xboxes. Nothing 1st gen/2nd gen besides my two Atari 2600s though I don't know enough about those eras to know what was popular besides the 2600. Colecovision I guess?
  4. I never have seen what was so great about it myself. Don't get me wrong I think it is a VERY GOOD GAME and I have played through it several times. Plenty of atmosphere and mood for me. I don't think it beats the classic Zeldas though which had more interesting worlds (I hate how there is a GIANT FIELD with just stuff attached to it...boo!) and better controls. I think the controls are really awkward in OoT, especially when similar games like Mystical Ninja starring Goemon got them just right (well Goemon is a little loose, but meh) I hate the camera, the way "jumps" work and really just laters and look around and stuff. The approach is needlessly backwards though that may be partly because the N64 controller is needlessly obtuse. It is definitely a great game but whenever people say "best game ever" I think, "hell it wasn't even the best game on the N64"
  5. Really? I LOVE TDU but the online is effectively dead in it now. Mayhaps I should check out the PS2 version. Its probably cheap.
  6. I'm looking at a Sega Master System, Turbografx-16, and an Atari 800 (thanks to you guys) as new additions to my collection. Honestly though, my real goal is to get my game room cleaned up and some old junk out (mainly old VHS tapes I no longer need) so that I have more room for shelves. I am out of shelf space and have some games just stacked. This is not good. I'm also seriously considering just forgoing the systems I have my eye on and going on a massive NES splurge to really bulk up my NES library. I've doubled it over the past year or so but I still only own around 30 games. I'm also contemplating completing my collection of Squaresoft published titles. I need several for the PS1 (mainly their fighting games) but only one each on SNES and PS2 (not counting Square-Enix games here). Beyond that I really only need to focus on the NES, but a few of those games were on my NES shortlist anyway. Though Square didn't publish all of those games.
  7. Got Bushido Blade and King's Field for my PS1 for X-Mas. Friends that are in tune with your interests are awesome!

  8. Got Bushido Blade and King's Field for my PS1 for X-Mas. Friends that are in tune with your interests are awesome!

  9. I prefer Asteroids and Galaxian on the 2600 to their arcade versions. Slightly prefer the look and feel of the PS2 Ghostbusters over the PS3/360 edition.
  10. Have you played NES Ikari Warriors yet? Not to shabby scoring Dracula's Curse for only $5. It gets overpriced a lot because it is a bit rarer than the others and also quite good. If you liked the difficulty level of Dracula's Curse, you should check out the Ninja Gaiden games for sure. Much higher quality series than Captain Skyhawk too. Now I feel kind of bad since I suggested it and you didn't like it heh.
  11. Well it uber sucks that Backloggery is closed to new registrations. I had to go read up on it because at first I didn't believe you lol. Sounds like whenever the site gets a redesign, current members are going to get invites or something. Gamespot and GameFAQs both have pretty deep databases. GameFAQs' interface is lousy though but if you already have an account with them it can be one way to do it. No easy way to quickly add games though. I've never bothered even trying to put my collection on my GameFAQs account. Gamespot's lists are easy to navigate but since its all point and click it can take awhile to dig through to find your specific version of a game. Their search function leaves a bit to be desired. Surprisingly though their databases do have older hardware. I ran a search for Donkey Kong and got 71 results with stuff like http://www.gamespot.com/intellivision/action/donkeykong/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B2 Stuffed near the back of the list.
  12. Heh most of the ones here are in total crap parts of town which probably helps keep their prices low. Though I definitely agree that they aren't what they once were. Their success has led to plenty of dishonesty. Oh well.
  13. Goodwill is actually a nonprofit organization so they're not as likely to price gouge as other types of retail stores might be. Its part of the reason why their stuff is so cheap (all their incoming product is via donation so they don't have to make up the cost via markups). If you're regularly getting old electronics that you can flip from them, you'll definitely be getting a good deal.
  14. Well I don't know if I can recommend it because I don't have anything to compare it with but I was quite pleased with the wheel for the Xbox 360. The only game I ever really used it with was Test Drive Unlimited though. Hoping to give it a good dust off when TDU2 comes out.
  15. Well I think I jumped the gun a bit buying my Dreamcast. I got the 'Cast and some games (Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, and Soul Caliber) but the machine itself had laser issues. Exchanged it, got another one that had laser issues though didn't really notice them until after the grace period on returns had expired. Sucks and from the sounds of things it will keep getting harder and harder to find a Dreamcast with a good laser. What I did get to play of Shenmue was really fun too...
  16. No! Don't fall into the trap and let them ruin it for you. It was called PSX back in the day before this number business started >.< And before they released some other thing that was also called the PSX. Fight the power man. Keep the original as PSX!
  17. Graphics don't look to bad. I like clean visuals, don't care about how detailed and that looks pretty clean. Were those tennis players speaking Simlish ?
  18. 2 generations after they're done so PS1/N64 are classics now h'yuck yuck. Seriously though Gotta agree with this. Heck, I'd argue that the PS2 has a lot of classic material on it and its technically still on the market. Kinda feel the same way about the Xbox and Gamecube. Though its still strange to think of anything after 2000 as classic. My main web hangout is GameFAQs. My account there is ten years old and a lot of the games that were mainstream popular titles then are classics now. Its a little strange to think of. That list is pretty interesting jaybird
  19. +1 for Backloggery There are other websites too, like Gamespot and IGN though their databases for older games aren't always up to snuff. The nice thing about Backloggery is that you enter the info yourself. This necessitates a bit more work on your part but ensures that your list is reasonably accurate. You can also include some additional data, like a brief comment on the title, your rating of it, and your progress in completing it. http://www.backloggery.com/games.php?user=algus&console=2600 I haven't gotten around to putting all my games on it because I'm lazy but my NES and 2600 (woefully small, aint it?) collections are near accurate.
  20. The Pack 13 thing hit me and I was also over on GameFAQs and noticed people at the Game Room board there talking about it. Probably some garbage that got uploaded by mistake. Hopefully it is a sign that there will be at least one more pack coming our way. I might have to get on and check out Food Fight, though I'm really only looking forward to Sunset Riders which I might actually buy.
  21. Captain Skyhawk is a weakness of mine though that may largely be from nostalgia as I played it lot as a kid. I think its a competent top-down shooter though the controls are a bit slippery and it is easy to die. It incorporates an altitude system that can take some adjusting to get used to and your ship is really big which makes it an easy target for this style of game. Its big problem is that there are other shooters that are much better but if you're a fan of the genre it is a decent game with an interesting graphical style. The number of enemies on screen never gets very high so it is relatively easy compared to similar shooters once you get used to how the game handles. By no means is it an A-List game but its not bad.
  22. Doesn't sound like something that is going to get much support from the mainstream gaming press (though I would have said the same about smartphones and look where we are) Its amazing how many gaming machines are out there that the "hardcore" industry neglects, both from the journalists that claim to follow it and major developers/publishers
  23. Yes, significantly so. It is actually quite hard to fid a model 1 Sega CD (the only listing I ever saw was for a broken one). The mechanism that ejects the tray (and a few other parts IIRC) is prone to failure on the Model 1. It also wasn't made as long. Pity as this is the version I would like to have. Can't go wrong with the Lunar games. Be warned you'll need the RAM cart to save progress and this can be expensive Eh, pickings here are a bit more slim. I am a fan of Lethal Enforcers and the Sega CD version is a decent port of the arcade game. I HIGHLY recommend Snatcher though that isn't a full light gun game. The list of light gun games is actually pretty small. Here ya go (via Wikipedia) * Bodycount * Corpse Killer (CD) * Crime Patrol (CD) * Lethal Enforcers * Lethal Enforcers (CD) * Lethal Enforcers 2 * Lethal Enforcers 2 (CD) * Mad Dog McCree (CD) * Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold (CD) * Monster Hunter (Unreleased) * Revolution X * Snatcher (CD) * Terminator 2: The Arcade Game * Who Shot Johnny Rock (CD) I highly recommend the CD versions of the Ecco the Dolphin games (the music is OUTSTANDING) as well as Sonic CD, argued by some as the best traditional Sonic game. I personally like it a lot more than Sonic 2 or 3 as it reminds me more of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. I'd also suggest Night Trap. Night Trap isn't specifically a good game (though it has its fans) but its a really fascinating curiosity, especially for a collector. I have the enhanced 32X version in mint condition and its one of the cornerstones of my collection. edit: I also backup the previous suggestion of Sol-Feace. It is a similar game to Lifeforce on the NES which, of course, makes it AWESOME Umm, well hate to burst your bubble but Sewer Shark is TERRIBLE. It is one of many absolutely awful full motion video (FMV) games like Night Trap. Its hard to tell what is going on in the game, the FMV is grainy, and the controls are a mess. Its games like Sewer Shark, which Sega wrongfully anticipated as the future of gaming, that gave the Sega CD such a mixed reception, which is a shame because there are some good games on it. On the plus side Sewer Shark is pretty cheap (in fact I'm surprised it wasn't included in your lot...it was a pack in) so if you want to check it out, you ought to be able to pick it up pretty easy. If you've got some friends, some of these old FMV games can be fun to play in a group because the FMV definitely falls into the "so bad its good" category.
  24. Oh man, I had even checked the links to see if someone had posted it already. I looked again and it turns out my adblocker was blocking some elements from that page, including the video lol. Oh well. @Atariboy - like the name myself, fits in with Morrowind and I hope the game is a look back to some of the things they did in Morrowind. Dragonborn would have been good too since that seems to be the theme for now. Still, I think this is part of the marketing strategy. The trailer didn't tell us much to be honest but the name tells Elder Scrolls faithful right away a lot about the game.
