  1. I bought two carts and adapters for myself and a friend's Fountain consoles (my friend also has a Tunix (Arcadia compatible)). Bloody awesome piece of kit! A couple of the games weren't released here - the Winter Games and tech demo really wowed me - I didn't know the machine was that capable!

Thanks @Rolo - super happy with out carts!

Guys, I'm so grateful for all the help, stories, and technical data on this console.

Finally, I was able to speak with Mr. Laury Scotty who confirmed that the project really was from Signetics and that they spread them all over Europe and Asia.

I would love to get some info/quotes from you for my article! Happy to plug the book too, of course!

I'm looking for a really cool photo of the Radofin 1292 and I'd like to know if any of you have it for me.

EDIT: I just realised you're looking for the Radofin one in particular. Oops!

Are you still looking? The cover feature in issue #4 of NZ Retro is all about the Fountain game console (New Zealand 1292). I'm going to be shooting mine and all of the games (I have every game title boxed (the hobby module and three dual-game carts that were NZ only). Happy to send you shots - I have a pretty much brand new system in box.

I teased the magazine with this and hardly anyone got it. Jesus, people were guessing Mario! Haha. I was kinda surprised as the Fountain was REALLY popular here - more so than the Atari 2600.

He threw newly graduated musicians under the bus putting them in legal risk and potentially jeopardizing their careers for a crime he committed to save his own arse. He's used musicians and then not paid them multiple times. He lied to get money from people. He's taken the credit for work other people have done for the last 20 years. He's publicly attacked and mocked people. He organized hate mobs to attack, harass and dox people....

I would say that your original assessment of him was completely spot on and shouldn't feel bad about expressing it.

WELL WHEN YOU PUT IT THAT WAY... !

That's the one thing I believe now. They have the same legal surname, at least. If Tommy was going to fake it he would have been dumb enough to call himself Tommy Tyler.

I can't believe I fell for Tommy's bullshit. I thought he was a genuine guy who wanted to make a console and he just stuffed things up. Nope, he's a blatant liar and a right C$%T. I wish I'd never given him the time of day.

I'm thankful that the Amico Development team never got back to me, though (I had even signed an NDA)! I mean, I lost my initial deposit for the Founder's Edition Amico but that's nothing compared to not being paid to develop a videogame.

I was a wee bit angry and I take back what I said about him being a c$%t. He clearly just has issues - I have struggled with an unwell brain as well, so who am I to judge? It's clear that he's very insecure and that's really sad but there is one thing to consider - a lot of people worked with Tommy for a very long time and none of them have come out and said anything negative about him (as far as I know, at least), so he can't be that much of a horrible person to be around.

I think we just have a man with some serious delusions of grandeur who thought he'd be the next console king and he went completely the wrong way about everything. I don't believe the Amico ever started out as a scam - he's WAY too vain to destroy his reputation on purpose.

In saying all that, I hope there are repercussions for his (and other Intellivision members') actions. They done @$#%ed up, man!

  6. Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd let you know that issue #3 of my little gaming magazine is available now. International orders welcome (or you can order directly from you 'local' Amazon).

I know I say "magazine", but it's really a full colour paperback book. The quality is super nice - really sturdy cover and nice, thick paper - perfect for collectors!

You can grab a copy from www.nzretro.com or Amazon, as previously stated.

Of course, issues 1 & 2 are also available (digital versions are FREE) if you want to catch up and issue #4 will be out early January.

    Cheers!

  8. Hi everyone,

I launched NZ Retro Magazine in April and I have just released issue #2. The response has been overwhelmingly positive!

I know the title has NZ in it but there's plenty of content suitable for overseas folks. In fact, there's really only one local feature (plus a collection tour) each month - even then I think you'll find those pretty interesting, too!

In issue #2 I go over the Road Rash series, review the Evercade VS, check out a massive Sega collection and much more!

If you're in New Zealand you can grab the magazine from www.nzretro.com or you can pick it up from your local Amazon if you're anywhere else in the world.

Both issues are available in print and PDF forms (the latter from www.nzretro.com) and I'll upload the Kindle edition of issue #2 shortly. Issue #3 will be available on July 1.

    Check out some covers!

    Thanks folks!

Glad you've got past those difficult times.

There are so many great mags about these days but it's always good to see more if you ever change your mind?

    Where are you working now?

Aaaand it has finally happened. The mag is official, 13 years later ?

  10. Hey folks,

Blatant self promotion time! I have started up a new retro gaming magazine - NZ Retro. Not too sure how many folk here would be interested, as it focusses on Kiwi gaming history, but hey - we played a lot of the same stuff - and I ship internationally (PDF versions also available).

I have a Kickstarter running that ends in a week. Feel free to check it out here, if only to get bit of a laugh from the video:

    Cheers everyone!

    Karl.

Hello I am looking to buy complete and mint copies of Hobby Module, Backgammon, the Tank War bundle, Spiders Web, Bowling, Planet Defender, and Sea Wolf. I would also be interested in a complete mint set if anyone is just looking to sell theirs off. Please let me know if anyone has any mint complete copies of any of these, or the full set. I am a serious collector, not just a tire kicker lol. Thanks

    Hi there,

Bowling and Sea Wolf don't exist. They were never released. I have Backgammon and took me forever to find. Not mint either. Sadly I missed out on the only boxed hobby module I've ever seen. Never even seen Tank War. It'll be tough getting the lot! Good luck, though.

I did see a complete set on eBay but doesn't look to be mint...

My wife was a massive fan of Shortland Street in the 90s and early 00s, then they took it off the air here in the UK for whatever reason. She was gutted about that.

    Subscribed!

Haha awesome. I was supposed to go to the UK on a promotional tour for the show but I got myself in trouble with the police and it involved a strip club. True story. Suffice to say I was no longer considered the right person to promote the show ?

Anyway, thanks for the sub. I won't be posting regularly until we're out of lockdown, sadly ☹️
